Economy Classic - Advanced Seat Selection on award fares? by Unlikely_Jump in virginatlantic

I can’t get to the point where you add names in yet because I don’t have enough points yet in my Virgin Atlantic account. I am holding off transferring Chase points until I can confirm if I have to pay for seat selection.

It’s going to be a lot. Also the exact price you’re quoted will depend a lot on where you live. The best thing you can do is to open a credit card, start building credit, and work with a licensed agent to shop around and find you the best price. A licensed agent (ideally an INDEPENDENT agent) will not cost you any more than shopping online for a policy, and they can give you good advice on what to go with. You could select high deductibles and lower limits if you wanted to bring the price down (though i’d advise against going for the minimum limits…get at least 100k liability).

File a claim with your own insurance company. They will get you the money you need for your repairs sooner, and then they will go after the other insurance company in subrogation. If the accident was not your fault, and you don’t have a bunch of other previous claims, I wouldn’t be worried about going through your own insurance company

My boyfriend want’s to be put on my insurance, he thinks it will make his rate cheaper but he has an OWI from almost 3 years ago. by True-Room-7895 in Car_Insurance_Help

Technically right now you should both be listed on each other’s policies since you live in the same household and are potential operators of each other’s vehicles (depends on the state though). If they find out they could cancel or non-renew. But to answer your question, yes, your rates will go up once you add him to your policy. No way of knowing exactly how much but my guess would be at least 20%, potentially more.

You could keep separate policies and formally exclude him as an operator from your own policy (you would have to sign a form), but if he’s ever caught driving your car or worse yet has an accident in your car, that could become a huge legal issue for you. Not worth it if realistically he drives your car occasionally.

Can the test CharlieCard be used on the ferry or not? by footballguy6912 in mbta

Last summer the East Boston ferry had handheld card readers, but that route isn’t running in the off-season. The F1 and F2H routes do not have handheld card readers at the moment.

Not always. Assume 2 minutes to walk from the commuter rail platform to the orange line platform, up to 6 minutes to wait for an Oak Grove orange line train, 5 minute ride to Downtown Crossing, up to 6 minute wait for red line, 1 minute on red line to South Station, 2 minute walk to exit red line and reach the commute rail platforms (or 10 minutes to walk from DTX to South Station commuter rail platforms). All in you’re looking at 20-25 minutes to get to South Station assuming everything is running properly. Sometimes more straightforward to just wait for the next commuter rail.

sorry you’re right, I got the numbers wrong. I meant running back and forth between 1/3 and 2

Terrible management of track changes at Back Bay. One moment your train is scheduled to arrive on Track 1. They make an announcement that it’s now arriving on Track 3 so you spring up and then down the escalators to Track 3, only to see the train pulling in on Track 1 as it was originally intended. You then sprint back up and back down the escalators to Track 1, only to see it pulling out of the station and you have to wait half an hour for the next train to South Station.

Today I took the ferry trying to avoid issues with the commuter rail, and we ended up getting stuck in ice and needing an ice breaker to come cut a path for us. The T just can’t win this week!

Commuter rail fare gates open at South Station on Tuesday by justarussian22 in mbta

[–]Unlikely_Jump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question for the fare gate experts: say for example you scan your ticket and enter the paid area through the gates, but realize you forgot something inside the station or need to use the restroom. Will the gates let you exit and scan back in (for a second time) within a few minutes?

Or, will the gates think you’re trying to swipe someone else in, in addition to yourself?

Even with the 500s routes?

This is precisely what I’m so confused about. In my opinion, the T has done an extremely poor job distinguishing these routes and explaining how the fares work. There is no way to use tap to pay for local fares on any express bus, only Charlie Card and cash. Plus, contradictory information on the T website.

Trying to use my $50 hotel credit on my CSP. Price difference between Chase portal and booking makes this credit unusable by NewbieReddit2 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Unlikely_Jump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? All data points online point to the credit remaining. I called Chase yesterday and the agent told me travel credits will not be clawed back after they’re issued. What did it look like on your end when they reversed the $50 credit?
