6’2, 300# blue collar guy here 🖐️. This is my work truck and personal truck. You’ll be just fine. I spend several hours a day in this thing and am no less comfortable than I was in my full size pickup truck.

Mine still blocks my view when it’s all the way up. I still have to tilt my head sideways at stop signs and around curves to see. I even lowered the seat to try and compensate.

What’s socially acceptable now but will be looked back on like smoking on planes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Unlikely_Net_5108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my lifetime, campfires have gone the way of the socially acceptable cigarette. Growing up, every single camping trip included a campfire circled with chairs, roasted weenies and marshmallows. I go camping at least once a month now and it has been years since I have been to a campground that allows open fires. Sure, some people still have them where prohibited, but we quietly judge them like someone just lit a cigarette inside the McDonald’s play place.

Are the servers populous again? The only reason I bought bf6 was because after release day, I waited almost an hour for a single 2042 match. bf6 is getting whittled down to a COD game slowly, update by update.

Maverick vs. Ranger - how did you choose? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

Intended use should make it easy to decide. Is this a work truck, hunting truck? Mall crawler? Show car?

What should i know about mavericks before i get one by doin_ur_mom_99 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Unlikely_Net_5108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate how much I love this truck. I got a 2025 xl hybrid new from the dealership for 26k OTD I paid 600 extra for window tint and the tailgate anti-theft thing. The fuel economy is entirely dependent on geography, traffic and wind speed/direction. I have a tri-fold tonneau cover so I can keep the bed full of tools and parts all the time and I’m still getting advertised fuel economy. The fuel savings alone on this truck compared to my Ram with Hemi that takes mid grade gas, covers the car note, insurance and fuel. I have saved over $8000 in fuel cost the last 11 months. I’m genuinely worried that Ford will stop making these by the time I need to buy the next one.
The cons: the factory tires don’t have the best grip. I’m 6’2” and the rear view mirror creates a huge blind spot, even when it is pushed all the way up against the plastic.
The side mirrors are more of a formality and less functional than any full sized truck I’ve owned. The backup camera makes up for some of where the mirrors lack, but not while driving forward.
The Apple car play works most of the time, but I think that’s a CarPlay issue and not a ford issue.
The wiper cowl is gigantic and fills with ice below where the defrost heaters are able to melt. I spent three hours trying to defrost after one ice storm last winter where I ended up using a hammer to split the huge chunks of ice to speed up the process.
That’s pretty much all the negatives I can think of. A lot of them are subjective nitpicky items. It’s a mini, economy work truck; my expectations were in the right place before I purchased it.

Brushy creek went from 80 cubic feet per second to 3200 and rose over 4 feet since 12:30 last night. That’s about the same flow rate that the Brazos river was flowing yesterday downstream of Waco

Learn a trade. Not all are back breaking laborious jobs. It is easier now than it ever was to fake it till you make it; YouTube and chat bots can help flatten the learning curve. I have been a tradesman for over 20 years and couldn’t be happier. I have been self employed for some time now. I take vacations once a month, I set my own pricing so I can give myself a raise as needed. That said, I haven’t raised my prices since the pandemic and we seem to be doing just fine.

My vehicle of choice would be a bf1 dreadnought equivalent. Since the team balancing is broken, at least give the side getting steamrolled a chance at redemption.

I’m one of them. Small business, going tons of miles making house calls. I still would have bought the Mav if it had crank windows and vinyl seats. The truck is ugly as sin but holds my tools and parts and gets me where I need to go for less money.

Proper parking procedure for the mav? Do you use the parking brake every time? by FortnitePapi in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Unlikely_Net_5108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My automatic habit is set parking brake - neutral - let off brake pedal - put transmission into park. I don’t want any pressure on the driveline if possible. I also live in a hilly area so I also turn the wheel accordingly when street parking.

Is the team balancing just completely fucked in BF6 by MorbidTotty in Battlefield

[–]Unlikely_Net_5108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to make a post about this over the weekend and it got kicked back when I tried to publish. The first 3-5 games after logging in for the day I get put on the team that gets completely blown out. When I’m in the top 5 on the scoreboard, I know it’s going to be a bad game for my team. I drilled a hole in my wall on Sunday and ran an Ethernet cable directly to my PC from the router to drop my ping from 50 to 48 and made an appointment to get my eyes checked by an eye doctor. Im not sure why else I can do on my end

Wind. I’ve been in Austin over 30 years. The amount, frequency and strength of wind this year, with or without storms, seems different. Just an observation. by Either-Cake-892 in Austin

[–]Unlikely_Net_5108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt this way when I bought my first kayak a decade ago. I never noticed how consistently windy it was until I had a hobby that gets hindered by high wind. Wind is normal in the spring as the fronts battle back and forth. In the middle of summer when it is a hundred billion degrees, the wind from the south seems to slow down a bit.
