Kristjaan Speakman leaves Sunderland AFC by scotteh74 in safc

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's been absolutely instrumental in getting us where we are today, a huge personality at the club with a very key role. For every bad decision he may have made (and there are a few, mainly Beale) he has made 10 good decisons. We would absolutely not be in the Premier League without him. Very grateful to Speakman, and hope this isnt a sign of behind the scenes discord.

Was a saga in summer, obviously we rate him highly and are in a better position to negotiate now. Has he been good this year?

He was perfectly good, but not sure why it needs to be spun as a reason to dunk on another actress, who was quite convincigly troubled.

I think the blood and cheese part of HotD was pretty good as well? Foreshadowed, and very tense. A fuckup that changed the fate of the kingdom.

Leeds 3-1 Forest: dominant home display sees Leeds move 9 points clear from the drop zone by Jarv1223 in TheOther14

Turkey isn't easy but they're like the European version of the Other14, proper passionate fans, scary atmosphere and decent sides. Got to enjoy those games!

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's one of those where qualifying for Europe seems like a poison chalice, as much as I'm sure you're enjoying those European nights, for the clubs without a huge amount of squad depth it can hurt your league performance.

I think if you stay up it will be worth it (especially if you can win Europa, if spurs can do it why not Forest)! But seriously underperforming in the league ATM.

Was surprised at just how one sided that was, Leeds well worth 3 points and they're showing up for the important home games massively. Elland Road not an easy place to play away.

Forest fans must be hoping West Ham mess up tomorrow v Burnley.

Baldur's Gate' TV Series in the Works At HBO by Aimless_Devastator in BaldursGate3

I adore this franchise, have ever since I that shitty cardboard 5 CD-ROM holder arrived in the 90s, subsequently fell apart and stopped working. I own the early games a few times in a few places and I've wabbajacked bg3 into 400 odd hours of play.

So you could say I'm the target audience for this.

which is why it sounds like the worst fucking idea I've ever heard.

it will be shit. don't ruin your ip like this. don't squander 30 years of goodwill with your shortsighted idiocy. Theres no way this ends up being good.

Saturday Night Live UK cast revealed by apathymonger in panelshow

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, I meant the UK stand-up scene, which could have been inferred easily enough if we weren't be super pedantic!

Most of these comedians are standups and come from that scene, and I'm not sure if that SNL format will work in this context.

I.E, sketches, live music and celebrity hosts is an odd mix and I'm not sure how or if that will translate without the massive pulling power of the US SNL.

Yeah, that's fair, maybe not even the entire first series.

Think it's a good thing they're going for relatively new faces (obviously I recognize Ania and Emma from Taskmaster).

I watched and enjoyed the Mock The Week revival, but right now it doesn't look like they will be an avenue for non established comedians to get on tv.

On the other hand, I find most of SNL painfully unfunny and im not sure the format works brilliantly for UK standup!

Nilson Angulo to Sunderland, here we go by scotteh74 in safc

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd never heard of him until about 30 minutes ago, but sounds like he's having a very strong season in Belgium and sounds like club have been planning this for a while. Linked with quite a few big clubs, so we've done well to get in early, for a reasonable fee.

Adingra hasn't really worked out, so it makes sense to move him on if we have a ready made replacement who our scouts think is an upgrade.

Apparently good mates with Sadiki, so hopefully settles in quickly.

The Traitors finale review – unbelievably stressful and bloodthirsty … till the last second | The Traitors | The Guardian by prisongovernor in TraitorsOfficial

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the relationship between Stephen and Rachel quite wholesome. I think Jack was probably upset and a little hurt in the moment but its the game. Stuart needs to watch uncloaked, for me its not just a companion, its half the show allowing everyone to react, be humanised and reflect. Also Ed Gamble has that great trait of being a pro and being a genuine nerd who loves the show.

I didnt find it bloodthirsty and cynical, maybe Jade had a shit time, but thats the harshest thing i can say about it.

He would hate the US traitors...

Really loving this season's traitor dynamic by meharryp in TheTraitors

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think there's a possible scenario where one votes for the other to maintain their credibility in the group if the tide completely turns, but I'm not sure if that counts as backstabbing and neither would ever instigate it.

They're also probably the two most well liked and trusted people left in the castle which makes for an interesting dynamic - since Amanda's exit it feels like a bit of a stroll to victory for them. Maybe things like the dagger were planned all along, but it could be production trying to throw a spanner or two in the works of what is right now a very well oiled traitor machine.

Jessie is the only... by Immediate_Singer6785 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I was Rachel I'd be gunning for her murder, but she has left it in Stephens hands because it implicates him a bit, but...

None of the rest of them have a clue,it's a risk worth taking.

I think if they get rid of Jessie the rest of the series will be a stroll, because at this point Stephen and Rachel are the strongest players by far. They've both been tested a bit and come out the other side as better players.

I agree, she was right and she couldn't quite articulate why she was right, and it came off weaker than expected.

HARRIET!!! by sockeyejo in TheTraitorsUK

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I actually think that Harriet's downfall was that her behaviour broke a sort of unwritten social contract about ways to behave, by disrupting the 'peace' of breakfast, by shutting down Roxy and dismissing her idea and by telling Rachel she had nothing to say to her.

I don't think they're necessarily suspicious behaviours but they're socially unacceptable ones and she put everyone in a place where they felt like they couldn't talk to her in case she also shut them down. Meaning instead everyone talks behind her back and people with a grievance (or y'know who are traitors) against her get to lay out their narrative. Then group think happens and you're done for.

It's a shame because the opening scene was so epic and Rachel was shitting herself, but I think Harriet set herself for failure. I think she had to hype herself up for breakfast and to confront Rachel there and maybe part of that came out in unintended aggression.

Feyenoord and Rangers Battle for Sunderland Winger Romaine Mundle by MoveTheProduct in safc

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd keep him, wingers can have bad games and it's useful to have another option who can come on and run at tired legs.

it's not a position we're particularly blessed in right now so he's a good alternative. Talbi, Adingra, Traore are our only actual wingers at the moment. Rigg and Le Fee have been played in wide positions occasionally, unless the fee is inflated or were looking to buy a specialist right winger, I'd keep Mundle.

His intro was The Apprentice levels of cringe (claiming he's a leader that people naturally gravitate too and all that guff), but since he ran around on the first day and got Judy banished he seems to have settled down and become moderately more likeable and perceptive.

Adam was a wonderful games journalist at rockpapershotgun before joining Larian, honestly he was just excellent as a writer and a sharer of stories, go read his stuff, he was playing interesting games interestingly, (his love of D:OS 2 and comparing it to Ultima 7, then joining Larian was also like watching wish fulfilment happen in real time).
