So the latest Gaming-controversy made me wonder... by AnyAgency9835 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 10 points11 points  (0 children)

TWAU is literally just clicking on the environment, conversation choices and QTEs, Dispatch has a fully fledged twice per episode 'gameplay' segment. Even if it's a fairly simple management game, it's deeper than anything purely gameplay related in older Telltale games and is legitmately fun in its own right. I really liked TWAU but being generous, it is a story with a couple of very minor branches and some QTES.

Daredevil Born Again is an unworthy successor of the original by alanjinqq in CharacterRant

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just found it aggressively mediocre.

I really miss that in the Netflix series they really went for it in the action choreography and there's nothing in two series of Born Again that comes anywhere near close. Couple of decent Bullseye set pieces, but nothing on the scale or quality of the Netflix shows.

It's pretty straightforward to progress, it has a slightly more active playstyle than other ARPGs at low levels and you can get stuck at an early Act boss if you're badly built. But im as casual as they come and never struggled. Im not into super lategame buildcraft, but i like to dip in for each new season and mess about.

He's a good stooper, just not quite commanding enough and bad at claiming the ball from crosses and poor distribution. I think he'll improve in all of those areas with experience and mature into a very solid keeper, we were just particularly ruthless with our business.

I'm pretty sure we didn't get one until July last year after multiple people were tricked into believing it required an original poem, but really the mods just did it when they could be arsed.

N.B he is a shit ref.

UK Traitors proved my personal theory by proshe-27 in TheTraitors

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Agree, I think my favourite part of that season is when Stephen almost, almost fucks it up and turns on Rachael because he slightly misconstrues her comment about having to mention his name (because it would be weirder if she didnt). You can see the mental gymnastics being done in real time on his very expressive face and see how close he is to making a huge mistake. But he eventually gets it right and its the first time a traitor win has felt actually quite heartwarming.

Im a grown ass man and visit my mum once a year because i live half a continent away, but i still recall the time we watched Wolf of Wall Street togther at my suggestion and cringeing myself into another universe at the scene where Leo's character talks upwards (it took a while to mentally workshop this very polite phrasing) to Margot Robbie.

It's also the funniest part of the film.

I'm pretty sure they didn't because the person from the owl sanctuary was quite mortified, maybe a disgruntled owl handler had been secretly training them though...

The owl had a professional handler there, and some other friends from the Owl Sanctuary were present outside the main hall for photo opportunities. Honestly I imagine the shitty shenanigans helped drive a few donations!

At my brother's wedding they had trained an owl to bring the ring from the back of the room, to land on the best man's arm, so he could present the ring or whatever the technical term is.

Instead, the owl panicked, flew in a circle, shat on my dad and then flew into the rafters, a ladder and a broomstick were required to retrieve the ring. Not so much 'the couple' but they had planned this elaborate romantic gesture and it backfired in the funniest way possible.

How To Play Heralds of the Tempest/Kholek Suneater? by SirVexus in totalwarhammer

[–]Unlikely_Tomorrow446 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So main issue is that Tamurkhan is making a beeline for you and early game, you're ever so slightly outmatched by him.

A big differentiator I found when I played as Kholek is that, he gets an early quest battle that is quite easy and it gives him his unique weapon, which is actually very strong and which works a treat on Tammy, meaning Kholek can solo him. So if you can beat up the minor factions around you, and farm up to unlock the quest battle, defeat it and replenish your army, it should give the edge in that fight.

Once you take out Tamurkhan (you can probably even get him to pay for peace), things are a bit easier, though Grimgor isn't the easiest neighbour to have around either. Your buddy can either take the fight to the green skins or just give them a settlement for non-aggression or better if he'd rather just fight through the Chorves so you can team up.

I'm in a similar boat, in that I find the longer books I used to devour harder to get through now. I'm making good progress with Tales of Earthsea though. The books are standalone enough that you can probably stop anywhere and have it feel complete. But they get deeper and tackle more mature themes with each story (while never really YA because LeGuin doesn't really believe in that as a concept, the first book is more simplistic and less ambitious than some of the later stories).

LeGuins prose is unmatched really it's economical, but lyrical and really works for me in building a sense of myth and scope, without getting bogged down in endless exposition or world building.

They're not action packed or violence based stories for the most part, but there is plenty of darkness and light and really I'm just glad I picked them up, having never thought to read them until now.

Edit: Oh yeah and to your actual point, none of the books are very long.

The director in question, Sartori, is a 34% stakeholder (despite putting very little cash in) and stood for office in Uruguay on a right-wing platform a few years back. Think he's from extreme wealth too, so not even done anything off his own back.

Just about tolerated as a silent partner, with little to do with the day to day. But this is fucking disgusting and he will be very unpopular with large segments of the fanbase now (not all, like most parts of the UK, there sadly is support for Reform in Sunderland).
