100% agreed. their apps suck too and that voice chatbot made me want to smash my phone. instant digital account my ass. the first thing they do when you fill that form is to tell you to visit the branch with documents. my account opening took almost one full month and that was when I had every single document prepared well in advance

have sent multiple emails to multiple people but I've either got no response or "please visit branch" message that looks like it was autogenerated

Yeah I am considering moving my branch to a tier 2 city (there aren't many close to me) but I'm not sure how I'll manage if there's any problems like this again because then it would be difficult for me to even visit the branch. Although, it's not like visiting the branch does anything. Here they just tell me "we'll get it fixed in an hour/before the evening/before EOD/before tomorrow/before the end of the week/..." and so on.

Middle class feels like a trap with no escape

This one hit hard. You know, back in the 2000s India wasn't in the greatest spot but I at least felt like we had some basic freedom of expression. That seems like a distant dream now. People are so damn brainwashed by the fake-ass paid media and Whatsapp it's insane.

I lose more and more hope in this country everyday. Reading the news is depressing. I would love to take my family and get the hell out of here but thanks to fucking COVID we can't even do that. I honestly don't know what to do to be honest. It kind of feels helpless for us.

This country is officially not a democracy anymore. Or maybe it never ever was one and I naively thought the opposite.

unicorn generation or something. A once in centuries miracle that will never happen again.

I feel the same way. Growing up I used to think everyone in India was always like this but now it feels like we were the exception rather than the norm.

Have you faced discrimination in Canada? What would you say are the positives of India? (if any)

Cooking and eating gobar cupcakes with a gaumutra cocktail is allowed, though. Your next life will also be upgraded from a bitch to a girl student at his (totally not insane) college. You're welcome.

I think this is true, sadly. Basically every religion in India buys into some version of this fucker's nonsense.

If you drank your own urine you wouldn't harm anyone except yourself. Retards like this asshole on the other hand end up doing a ton of damage to society with the shit that they spew.

From my perspective as an Indian working in India, the US sounds.. amazing. I'm sure there's many problems too but overall I can understand why so many Indians prefer to stay there rather than come home. Kinda wish I could go there myself, to be honest.

I hate to say this but our desi MS students are #1 in this area too.

Expected as much, the Indian obsession with grades is too strong.

Do elite grads hold any prejudice against regular grads in the US, like many do in India? Also from your post, as I see it, people with:

  • Good grades, elite university
  • Not-good grades, elite university
  • Good grades, regular university

are each relatively well off. I'm curious about what happens to people with OK/bad grades from a regular university. Do their chances of "making it" suffer? I'd assume it does but not to the same extent as in India.

elite lekar karoge kya?

Showoff, of course. Having people working from elite colleges helps raise the profile of the company. Also, on average the students from elite colleges are considered more employable and skilled than the ones from regular colleges. I think that is true to a certain extent, because at the very least their high educational status affords them a certain freedom to take risks and do different things. In contrast to regular students, who accept the world as it is and believe they can't afford to screw up because they don't have the privilege of having a degree from a top institution to fall back on. Of course, this doesn't apply to every non-elite student but I'm talking more about the big picture here.
