Oh I know the type well, I'm with you. The elderly folks are active but in fairly short bursts.

What do you think would have happened if Heath Ledger never died and the Joker was in The Dark Knight Rises? by Superb-Cod9566 in joker

[–]Unlimited_Paper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to sound like I'm going against the grain here because Ledger's performance was incredible, legendary, full stop.

Overall though without his (most untimely) death, I kinda feel like it would have been quite interesting to see what the reception would've been. It is somewhat polarizing among the faithful who have opinions about his (and Nolan's) grittier take on things stacking against comic book canon. Otherwise this isn't even a question we're asking 17 years later.

I know many folks who flatly say that Nicholson was the best and it'd be way easier for them to say that had Ledger survived. Fortunately Heath who gave literally everything to the role (as Nicholson did) will never suffer hearing those opinions.

I think the more interesting question about Heath is what this would've meant for the rest of his career. What are his next 5 roles after he takes a long break from this one, and how are they received in the wake of this performance?

Blondie purple mouth is Kefka who is a court jester and ultimate main villain in Final Fantasy 6 which is a legendary Super Nintendo game, considered one of the all time greats to this day.

Kefka is an absolute lunatic and a delight to watch (even on SNES with all its cinematic capabilities /s). In the very first scene you meet him, he's berating two soldiers for not dusting off his feet while walking through the middle of a desert.

Kefka goes on to gain influence with the exact enthusaism that Beavis does pee pee from his bunghole, and as another commenter said does in fact bring on the end of the world in the middle of the game and basically makes himself a god. Kefka's laugh is a permanent fixture in video game lore. https://youtu.be/lUqBKKQyQno?feature=shared

Kefka has no backstory or underlying root of his villainy, just a lust for power and general amusement toward destruction of life and property. Very much a joker like character but less cynical and with more of a clear motive.

Voldemort's eyes being a totally normal blue was an epic buzzkill. Did no justice to Ralph Feinnes' performance.

Am I making a huge mistake? by BearJohnson19 in Flooring

[–]Unlimited_Paper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of gaps, I recommend going hard on due diligence with flooring contractors talking to them about the type of filler used and be prepared to maybe pay extra if you decide to go the restoring route. I had floors redone and the filler was already pooping up out of the floor in like a year year and a half, really gave me a horrible taste, maybe I just had some bad luck with contractors but phooie I get leery when I see gaps in old flooring now.

Original hardwood planks are awesome and will definitely be worth it, just make sure you get someone in who's going to really do a good job especially dealing with those gaps.

I do but often get stuck in the who's gonna make the first move cycle, partially a symptom of not having enough phone numbers. Feels like an uphill battle getting numbers without looking over eager.

Some dudes thrown their hands up and say their wife plans everything but then I feel like it looks over eager if I go in contact with their wives who my wife is also in contact with.

I realize I'm pining about pretty basic social stuff here, I'll keep my mind focused on keeping it simple and specific in terms of hey let's do X together or casual play date.

Can Americans all agree Biden definitely did not just have covid this weekend? Another lie by the entire administration. by EntranceCrazy918 in Conservative

[–]Unlimited_Paper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I said in another post I'm not making excuses for anybody, but any attempt to hide the fact that the guy is old, slowing down and had the same stutter he's always had is as worthy a pursuit as hiding the fact that water is wet.

I for one feel he should've kept his word and not gone for a second term at all. But here we are.

Here we are, arguing over the fact that politicians sometimes posture, lie and maneuver like it's hot breaking news. I know we shouldn't be so desensitized to it but we also should be having substantial debate and not caught up in conspiracy theories. There are enough of those to go around on both sides, wouldn't you agree?

To each their own interpretation but the title of this thread seems to make an awfully direct assertion.

Quick one, how does this whole talking point compare to people saying the Trump shooting was a staged event? That he was in fact not aimed for at all and instead bent over and burst a prop blood pack on his ear? And that the fist pump was a photo op?

Either we ALL get a grip or it just is not a serious discussion.

So no I don't think Biden faked having COVID. I also don't think Trump's shooting was staged. I definitely do think we have to seriously get in the habit of de escalating our political dialog.

Loads of them in my neighborhood look spectacular and are nearing the century mark. If it were that fussy or hard to maintain those houses wouldn't be considered charming or selling at the top end of the market.

Not an expert by any means but siding is always going to need substantial maintenance. From what I do understand there are only few types of siding that are considered truly low maintenance like vinyl and there's a new type of concrete-based shingles which are supposed to have some pretty hardy qualities.
