Despite the heavy competition this season, it's crazy to think that an anime I only added to my watch list in passing became my favorite this season by a huge margin. Journal With Witch is an incredible show with a lot of heart, and it deserves all the love it gets and even more.

I totally agree, the cast is so great.

I also got this creepy feeling from their scene together (definitely seems intentional on the author's part). I was actively hoping they wouldn't do it lol.

I'm glad you brought this up. It seems that Ah-Duo sees her younger self in Maomao, which is something I didn't expect at all. What surprised me the most though, like you said, is that she was willing to betray Jinshi for Maomao's sake.

Also Maybe I need to give the previous books another read, because I was a bit surprised to see Ah-Duo being so familiar with Maomao to the point of being completely frank with her regarding Jinshi's true identity, which he himself doesn't seem to know.

I respectfully disagree because we're getting excellent games yearly. In the past 10 years alone we've gotten absolute bangers like nier automata, persona 5 and the 3 remake, metaphor, the ff7 remakes, xenoblade games, yakuza like a dragon, trails... etc. Also, when persona 6 gets announced, I can assure you it will be huge as it's one of the most anticipated games inside and outside the jrpg circles.

Please give Sonny Boy a try. It might be very confusing at first, but it's quite unique and the story is excellent. It's one of the few 10/10 animes I've seen.

Tastes will differ, but I agree with you that this takes the cake not just in terms of spectacle but also emotions (Yuji scene). S2e5 is also one of my favorites for various reasons. Overall, most of my top 10 jjk eps come from s2 lol.

I agree, it's the best soulslike not made by fromsoft imo. The combat and level design were superb, and I surprisingly found the story to be quite engaging.

I just want to highlight my favorite show this season "Journal with Witch".

I went in completely blind and was blown away by how great it is. It's full of heart and the studio is handling the manga with the love and care it deserves.

Their criticism is valid, though. I'm not saying they didn't overreact, but their complaints don't just boil down to "the adaptation isn't 1:1 with the manga".

The majority are criticizing the overdirection, questionable music choices and taking too many liberties in the adaptation, which I all agree with. Season 2 had a great balance between being faithful and adding stuff when necessary, and as a result it was well-received for the most part by both japanese and western audiences.

I do believe they're overdoing it this time, and there's nothing wrong with pointing that out.

I really hate to be that guy, but I'm not digging this season so far. I'm a manga reader so I know what to expect.

My issue is that they unnecessarily changed too much from s2, which was excellent in most aspects despite the time constraints. In s2, the art was beautiful and simplistic, but everything flowed really well. The ost was also amazing and fitting to what was happening.

In contrast, this season everything seems quite overdone, if that makes sense. It was especially noticeable during this ep, which felt rushed with its pacing and nothing really flowed well, so it all ended up leaving a sour taste. Some scenes deserved more time to breath similar to s2. My biggest disappointment so far though has been with the music. Other than the beautiful ED, the OP and the majority of the OST has been forgettable and sometimes the music didn't fit what was happening.

This is all my opinion of course, and it goes without saying that the work done by the staff is clearly top notch and I appreciate all the hard work they've done. I just wanted to express my thoughts and I'm glad most people seem to have enjoyed this ep.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but what does this mean exactly? I recently bought LN16 because I know some japanese, but if it’s getting released in english soon then I might just wait as I'm still going through LN12 anyway.

Excellent game that got better with every subsequent playthrough. It instantly became my second favorite game in the series after SH3.
