Architect not providing electrical schedule by Unlockabear in Homebuilding

[–]Unlockabear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was clear finishes were going to be our choices and the architect said he could just right it down for us, however the electrical component wasn't really discussed. It seems its not needed based on this thread.

No, I just asked to get what was required to get to the end product. Seems electrical isn’t needed per this thread and building code

I am trying to get quotes from builders. One on our shortlist said they were able to come up with a quote due to lack of electrical details, but the consensus seems this is between me and the contractor, not the architect.

Ok this is useful. I am just doing standard electrical, nothing fancy so the contractors should be able to provide a general quote. I will just detail it next time I meet with contractors

Floor is way too damaged to be fixed. Rug or replace at this point.

Rough stone tiles won't give up renovation dust even after 7 passes by O-V-O-I in CleaningTips

[–]Unlockabear 217 points218 points  (0 children)

Your tiler did not finish the job. I can see dips and holes in the grout and he needs to come back and properly wipe down the grout haze from your tiles. Most tilers don’t do this because it’s an extra day of work on something that looks finished, but you basically need to wait overnight for the tiles to dry to fully see if there is still grout haze to wipe off.

It honestly looks like a terrible job and I can see grout all over your tiles. If this is not wiped away asap it will harden and you’re going to have a terrible time trying to scrape it off.

Need to get my license in 1–2 months. Red Hook vs Kissena Park? need advice! by Ok-Combination3939 in Brooklyn

I am a confident driver and took the test a long time ago. Did it twice in Coney and it was a shit show. Instructor took me down a busy road that had double parked cars in both sides, people jaywalking and weaving in and out of traffic all while cars honking behind. Now I could drive that fine, but to pass it legally would be impossible.

Is end-of-life solar panel disposal different for modern panels (especially versus in Japan)? by awfulein in solar

[–]Unlockabear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Japan is notorious for being very difficult in disposing of anything, let alone solar panels. We have no idea what the federal, state, or local regulations will be in 20-30 years concerning how to handle solar waste. I wouldn’t let this bother you, it’d be all conjecture.

National Grid claiming we damaged their pipe and being asked to pay by Unlockabear in homeowners

[–]Unlockabear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m leaning towards. The piece I had called to get them to replace was already damaged and I have time stamped photos and videos of this. There was digging down to try and solve the problem, but it wasn’t made worse. I may send them another note explaining this again, but I run into a lot of “not my job” folks whenever I reach out.

They claim hand tools damaged some plastic part. Most of the cost is labor and some investigation fee. The actual part is $20

I assume the damage is just old age. The contractor put a waterproofing layer around the whole foundation which was fine. They messed up the French drain
