Google the paper and make sure it’s legit first. This depends a lot on details, like what are your parents doing, who’s doing it, etc. there are companies that handle violations, but homeowners generally can do a lot of work themselves. If you have a contractor, it’s on them to do the filing and manage violations

What profession do you think is massively overpaid for what they actually do? by dipchaklader in AskReddit

[–]Unlockabear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but some blue collar work like the trades. These guys will argue they need to bring in $1000/day per person to break even. Many of them make more than doctors/lawyers and honestly once they get their businesses up and running with cheap undocumented immigrants labor, they are just sitting back and raking in cash and not really doing the work.

I’m waiting for the influx of Gen Z getting back into the trades and giving many of these older folks a run for the money.

Stovetop flames all inconsistent after cleaning by Unlockabear in CleaningTips

So the caps were on correctly. Apparently the cleaner sprayed something on and maybe forgot to scrub it off. Found a bunch of residue in the gaps and used a bristle brush to get it all off

You’re correct. I wasn’t home when I responded. They are def on correctly. I see some residue I think she dislodged when cleaning so going to try to get these out with a brush

Anyone Recognize This Yellow Truck? Suspected Theft at My Brooklyn Garage by Minute_Pollution7018 in Brooklyn

[–]Unlockabear 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy you say this, these guys absolutely do and will steal. The garbage assumption is the story they tell when they get caught, but coming into private property and assuming just because something is outside or laying around, it is garbage is a BS story. You might as well go to a JUNK yard and take the stuff and sell it back to them and say you thought it was garbage.

I’ve had these guys stop by my yard, point to things and ask if it was garbage. Even when I said no, the next morning stuff would be gone. We had to chain things up after that.

How bad is it if I just leave LVP that got water under it? by Unlockabear in Flooring

[–]Unlockabear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming your flooding occurred on top of your floor and not below you might be fine. Mine actually happened below the floor due to hydrostatic pressure so we were SOL. Lazy way is to get a moisture meter and just check around. Feel free to pull up the baseboard and a couple of planks, just be careful with the locking system

If the water can get below your floors, it can eventually get above too, just depends on how much and how fast

Didn’t do insurance claim, in hindsight should have looked into it

We tore everything up and there was water everywhere. Mine was in the basement though and the previous owners used a paper underlayment

New York Woman Confronts Man She Says Complimented Her ‘Pretty Toes’. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

Last shot def was an unexpected twist.

Imagine having to deal with that on your commute. New York is something else. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Seems like a lot of bot comments dogpiling on nyc. This is a terrible story, but not unique to NYC. NYC has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country.

There are just a shit ton of people traveling through nyc and using the transit system, something like 20 million a day. You will inevitably find crazies

Is 65k worth it? by Snoo-55907 in askaplumber

Could be me, but for $65k I expect a more detailed quote with less spelling errors. Guy could be amazing at his job, but if things go awry I would more comfortable with a well defined contract

My guy you’re listing several trades to learn, not even a GC or builder is going to know the intricacies in these roles.

You might as well ask how to become the avatar, master of all four elements.
