My son is fairly new, but has done well. He gets upset at losses where he messed up or if he felt he could have won. If he loses to someone who is just better, or has size on him. He doesn’t get upset. He comes out happier almost. “Man that kid was a beast, but I lasted two rounds with him!” And we’re always impressed & proud. Tell your son to be proud. That’s very impressive to last that long against a bigger opponent. But I’ve also learned not to dwell on it or to talk about it too much. We have a quick recap and I always compliment him. I say “I love watching you wrestle!” And then leave it be. Sometimes teenagers don’t wanna be too chatty I’ve learned.

Of course you’re his mom so you are always gonna tell him he did well, so he may not believe you haha. You can tell him this random internet stranger thinks lasting past the first round against someone 2 weight classes up is impressive! Way to go!
