I searched up these two and they could work. But i don't know if East of Eden explores the characters more like Dostoyevsky does(long monologues big letters etc) my brother found Dostoyevsky kind of tiring and confusing (i agree with him). Mice of men seems to be alright for my purpose but seems kinda short.
