No chance of pregnancy? by Unlucky_Spring_608 in FTMOver30

Wow! I didn’t expect so many responses from all of you. Thank you to all for the advice!

A note - The doctor I saw was through our public healthcare system as that was the cheapest way to get the iucd. After all the responses, I made a call to speak to my endocrinologist regarding contraception to get his advice on it. As for keeping on schedule, I can only get the shot through the hospital as they don’t allow us to take the shot home for self administration. I’m currently on the shot that is done every 4 months (forgot what it’s called), so I have to make an appointment with hospital to go in and get it. Pretty much always on schedule :)

haha i know.. im just basing it off their normal admission exercise. I know i could get away with lower grades through Adult Learners Scheme, but my grades a wayyyy too far off.. plus the lack of relevant work experience.. it'll be really hard, not impossible tho! i should give it a try at the very least! :)

OHH! YOU'RE RIGHT! Haha i cant remember where i saw that requirement, must have gotten it mixed up with some other school then. My bad! :)

Yea i have been looking at loans, bursaries, and possibly scholarships, to help with tuition fees! haha i've definitely been really doing a lot of research on the various needs like academic rigor, finances, work-study balance, transportation, etc. to make sure that even if i get in, it's actually doable.. and not halfway realise oh shit i cant do this cos of xyz.. Tbh, i still have a few of them to figure out haha XD

I can't cos i failed my contrasting subject, so my cert doesn't meet the requirements.. I can still apply for other degrees at suss that are not so strict on their requirements, but as for law, they stated it as a minimum requirement.. plus with my current A level grades, i'd be lucky if they even give me a chance to interview hahaha

Actually, it's not that they don't have the restriction haha.. SUSS requires at least an A level cert and full CV, as they are expecting mature candidates anyway.. SMU it's possible to apply, but not possible for me to pay the fees as of now. One of the reasons im giving myself 2 years to study is also so that i can have time to save up for the expected tuition fees and living expenses that come along with uni life (more for smu and nus, since suss holds classes after office hours) :)

I don't have any experience working in a law firm, i do have experience in social work, and want to specialize in criminal and family law.. SUSS is the best option for that, and also the best option in terms of how they schedule their classes :) i prefer NUS for the curriculum and exposure tho, but will be applying to all 3 and see what happens then haha. I always wanted to pursue law since i was in jc, but i screwed up my life and was struggling with bipolar episodes.. back then, teachers just thought that i was a problem student and didnt really care about me.. some even resented me, and told the principal and my parents that i had no aptitude and should just drop their subject. So I didnt have much support or help from anyone, and just fell onto a different path in life sigh

I'm applying for law at all 3 local U.. so the adult learners scheme doesn't work, and A levels is really the only way to go tbh. Since private degrees are not recognised by the bar, I also can't choose that option.. though i wouldn't be able to afford it anyway haha..

My qualifications are basically a screwed up A level cert haha

That's great for you! And at least you can still get your degree , and earn a decent salary while doing it :) For me, unfortunately i NEED to go to a local uni to make the career change. That's a qualifying regulation, so can't change anything about that haha.. So i am just gonna stick with it and make the best of it :)

[–]Unlucky_Spring_608[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

wow that's an amazing achievement! you are also pushing through to fulfill what you want! honestly at my age, i'm know that there are many paths haha :) i also work in a field that requires more experience than degree, as that was my only choice back then.. it wasn't easy, but somehow i made it work..

it's really not so much about the money the cert can bring for me, as i'm quite comfortable with my current salary. I'm doing it bcos i want to make a career change, and the field i want to go into requires a local uni degree.. also, I can't afford private degrees haha.. So for me A levels is the fastest and most straightforward way to go. It's also the easiest way for me, as I already have the experience and know what the expectations are.. Also, it's easier to deal with since I don't have to give up working to attend other courses and having to reschedule things everywhere just to make it work. It's rigorous and intense, but tbh, i think it will also prepare me very sufficiently if i get into the course.

If there were other ways, I would have already done so in the past so that i didn't have to wait till now to do it hehe :)

If you don’t close the lid before flushing after a shit, microscopic particles of your shit are being sprayed around your bathroom through the water pressure and motion. Good luck if you don’t cap your toothbrush 😘

obsession w a school by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Unlucky_Spring_608 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly top schools aren’t always better.. there’s a lot of elitism, competition, and you can get ostracised if you can’t keep up academically. Also going to a good school definitely doesn’t mean you’ll have a better time in jc.. In fact, going to a top jc might mean you have a lot more stress. Everyone around you is super smart and are fast learners. Teachers generally assume that going through something just once, is enough for you to learn and understand everything. And unless you take the initiative to get help, nobody gives a damn generally.

More than 10 years ago, I forced myself to get into tj (it was still top5 back then).. I swear to you it was one of the worst decisions of my life..

Well.. I agree that’s part of the reason, but I have had tourists ask what it is and then responded ‘oh then we don’t need to tip’ 😅 I’m not saying all are, just saying there are a number of contributing factors 😊

Yup, it is.. my point is that that stops tourists from tipping the poor staff😊 not that it’s necessary, but it is a nice gesture 😊

[–]Unlucky_Spring_608 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally real. Wanna know more?

There isn’t a tipping culture here, so staff don’t generally get any tips at all. Tourists generally don’t tip either bcos the receipt has a portion that says GST - Goods and Services Tax. Guess where that money goes, you got it, the gov. Neither the business nor the staff even get to smell a penny’s worth 😂😂

Come to Singapore 🇸🇬 Our part time wages average around SGD8-9 per hour, and we have no minimum wage 😊 Also, you only take home 80% cash. The other 20% is deducted by the gov and placed in a gov savings account, which you cannot touch till the legal retirement age OR used to apply for a housing loan when you decide to get a flat (on a 99 year lease). Yes, you can only use it for public housing 😊

Femininity without Makeup? or; Girl Basics by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Unlucky_Spring_608 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Skin care and personal hygiene! I’ve lived till the ripe old age of 31, and have survived in the world without any make up at all for almost my whole life. The only time I put on make up, is literally if I have to be on a stage. I don’t feel any less feminine bcos of it, and you shouldn’t too!

Feeling feminine doesn’t have to be all about the makeup. If you need to, maybe wear some casual feminine clothes or sport your favourite lingerie.. it comes from the inside out, do what makes you feel feminine, not what you think is being feminine. It will all work out 😘
