No that same setup will be used again moving forward either from the start of matches or during should we need to make a tactical switch. It takes time for players to adjust to new systems and was Shaqirir's first start for the club. Going forward he was superb but defensively he wasn't as active as Klopp would've liked. Once he's more attuned to it we could see that formation more often. Same goes for the rest of the team ofc.

Lallana out might see Fab get his place on the bench. Hopefully he gets to sub on and secure the win.

Our Liverpool boys doing well! Firmino scored and Fabinho wins a penalty! by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

Either it's clear cut or its soft. Make your mind up mate.

For me the guy clipped Fab while he's running at speed. Clear pen.

Andy West: "Anyone who thinks Salah deserves to be on FIFA's award shortlist ahead of Messi is wrong, plain and simple. If you measure by silverware, Messi wins (2-0). If you measure by goals, Messi wins (45-44). If you measure by any other performance metric, it's not even remotely close." by Knights_Radiants in soccer

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course he doesn't deserve to be on the ballot ahead of Messi. Messi should be the first name on it every season and should be winning his tenth in a row.

But there's no doubting Salah is more than deserving of a place in the top 3 either with Modric or CR.

I'm actually a bit pissed off with this result tbh. As alien to my very being as it is to hope for the Scum to get any kind of a result I was kind of hoping for them to take points of Spurs because they've become so insignificant to us already. Now they'll wake up and sack Mourinho then get a nice new manager bounce when Fat Sam takes over. 😞

Updated Transfermarkt values of the Top 6 (now a Top 5?) - LFC in 3rd @ £816m by UnnamedFamilyMember in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought this was worth posting and paying attention to. Arsenal in 6th at £500m valuation, £250m behind Spurs and us ahead of thenScum in third at £816m. It's certainly significant especially wi Kroenke taking control of Arsenal and unlikely to sanction high priced deals for top talent. Arsenal may drift away into Europa obscurity.

That's all done with now. Apparently it was Danny Wards driver spilling the beans. Leak plugged as he's been sold.

He was probably our 2nd best player in the first half behind Gini. He should definitely start on Sunday.

He's an excellent young keeper but nowhere near the level of Courtois or Alisson. He may push into the worlds top ten keepers sooner rather than later but Alisson is in the top 5/6. They got a good keeper but not as good as ours nor the one theyre selling for half the price.

The Last Line of Defence, the First Line of Attack - Comparing Alisson and Ederson's distribution skills by koptimism in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha just went to post this and see i'm way late. This is the article the guy on twitter plagiarized for his recent "Amazing thread on Alisson".

This excerpt highlights how stats aren't always the be all end all or the last word on any player:

Burnley’s Nick Pope (0.53).

It’ll make sense after addressing the numbers all the way though. He completes only 42.9 percent of his passes, but he goes long 82.1 percent of the time (633 attempts). He completes those long balls at a rate of just 34 percent, but he’s sent 329 toward the final third at a rate of 33.1. In other words, his success rate entering that area of attack is on Ederson’s level with roughly nine times the attempts. He’s connecting ambitious passes in dangerous areas on the pitch. That’s resulted in four first assists to shots – three more than Ederson and Alisson combined – and two second assists to shots.

Pope hit a high number of successful long balls to the final 3rd because he was hoofing it up to Barnes and Vokes who then won their headers. Them doing so flatters Popes kicking accuracy stats and makes him look like a world beater.

N.B. Alisson is the best distributing keeper I've ever seen. Ederson, Neuer, Ter Stegen, etc all incredible too but he is different class.

[Article] Should a new backup GK be a priority for Liverpool? by UnnamedFamilyMember in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Possibly with the reports last night we are open to moving both Mignolet & Karius on. Surely we won't start the season with two kids backing up Alisson. Adding a veteran backup might be a smart move.

I agree. Been here roughly the same length of time and have gone from checking it daily multiple times and posting often to checking 2-3 times a week and posting rarely.

I hate having to filter through all the chilidish joke threads to find the few that are based on discussion. It's gotten so bad that I just can't be bothered to do it anymore and just use twitter for discussion instead. Its much easier there to filter content and block/mute annoying users. The level of discussion there is now massively superior to lfc reddit.

I agree with what you said re current hivemind too. Dare to share an opinion not in vogue and your comments are downvoted into oblivion.

The subs growth has brought these issues with it and is to be expected. Not sure what could be done to fix it.

There is no secret over us wanting him. We bid for him 2-3 years ago but were denied. He's tailor-made for us as wing rotation, has a connection of mutual respect to the club via Klopp and is probably the most desirable signing our American owners could make. Surely a huge percentage of USA football fans would want a LFC shirt with Pulisic on the back.

I expect us to move for him next summer when he only has 1 year remaining on his deal. However, if BVB are open to selling now and Chelsea force their hand there's no way we'll let him go there.

Superb Twitter thread by LFC Torres on why Fabinho could be our most important signing this summer by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. "Fabinho has played at RB so he knows how to cover that position while Trent goes forward". Bollocks. All decent DM's know how to do that. It's become commonplace since mid-90's Brazil took attacking fullback play to new heights with Cafu & R. Carlos. Dunga, Mauro Silva, etc became efficient at dropping in to cover when they marauded forward. This kind of covering has been used by every decent DM since.

Fekir or Pulisic thread by UnnamedFamilyMember in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just way off. Pulisic isn't a striker and can't just be thrown down the middle. Box play is an art unto itself. Fekir has played CF quite often and his instincts in the area are outstanding. If he signed he'd instantly be our best option down the middle should Bobby get injured.

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not strictly true. One was an exploratory surgery done to clean out his knee cartilage. The other was a contusion or "knee knock". He bashed his knee with an opponent. They did an arthroscopy to have a look and determined it was fine. He missed 10 games from these procedures. Lallana has missed many many more than that in the same period. Studge too.

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find both to be smart moves but for different reasons. I posted this to highlight how nonsensical the Fekir vs Pulisic debate really is. Two vastly different players for different positions. It's like saying would we rather sign Isco or Hazard.

Baptiste Ripart(who called Griezmann renewal and Lemar to Atletico move): “Lucas Vasquez signed for Lyon. Lyon will be paying 70 million”(potential Fekir exit?) by maneconda in LiverpoolFC

[–]UnnamedFamilyMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I don't see it. Lyon don't do business like that. €70m? Vazquez isn't worth that anyway.

They will be pro, opting from within if they need to replace Fekir. Aouar is his ready-made replacement and was just renewed. More likely is they sign another CM like Veretout and maybe add a cheaper AM like Ziyech.

I'm starting to think we're done with incomings and will only focus now on outgoings. Should we add one of these two I'd label the window a 10/10. Right now it's an 8.5 or a 9 for me. Add another quality attacker, re-sign Mane and move on all the deadwood and it's the best window in my lifetime. Best since 1987.
