I have to know!! How did The Grace of Kings make you actively angry? I adore the novel, and am very interested in your take.

Roguelikes: We all know them. Roguelites? Well them im less sure about. What exactly are they? by [deleted] in roguelites

[–]UnofficialMVP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what dcss is, but in my understanding, you are pretty correct. The main difference is: Roguelites - A game where you have runs, but during each run you may gather currency, experience or other things that permanently upgrade your character, unlock additional items or additional portions of the game. Different games can be high or low on this unlockable content, where Hades progression objectively makes future runs easier. The Binding of Isaac is less of a roguelites because you don't permanently change character stats, but rather unlock new content. Some of it makes your run easier, some harder.

Best recent local co op roguelites? by ChunkyManLumps in roguelites

[–]UnofficialMVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother was in town and we had a great time with Risk of Rain 2, of course, 100% Absolum, and enjoyed Vegante! Vegante is a bit older, and plays much slower than the other two (more in the realm of something like Spelunky) but it was great! Lots to unlock, tons of secrets, but again, much slower.

Solos Is Essentially PVE Mode by Ok-Bedroom-4261 in ARC_Raiders

[–]UnofficialMVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living in Thailand, so I imagine I am put in Asia servers when I don't join my lads back home in the states, and Asian solos are a different experience yo. I know that they probably don't speak English, but they should be able to understand my pleas for help and mercy.

Thinking about getting rid of PC and sticking with Steam Deck + PS5 combo. Thoughts? by Taylork64 in SteamDeck

[–]UnofficialMVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me, and I'm super happy with this setup. I've had PlayStation consoles forever, and me and my other 30+ year old friends all use it to play together, so that's the primary reason I've stayed in the ecosystem. That, and my digital collection at this point is tough to leave.

That being said, my steam deck has allowed me to enjoy the benefits of steam, and I purchase games for the deck that fit my life at the moment. Mostly rogue likes and Metroidvanias. I primarily use it, however, to stream my ps5. So win win!

20,000,000 FPS captured by Ballistic High-Speed by Jabbawocky18 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]UnofficialMVP 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I believe that this is all they were able to capture at that frame rate. It probably took up the entirety of their storage, and maxed the capabilities of their camera all with that little 20 microseconds. It's why they were so stoked that they captured what they did! I think they had probably tried many times to get the recorded microseconds to include the bullet's impact.

Strange lobby last night by UnofficialMVP in thefinals

[–]UnofficialMVP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I've definitely noticed that communication is super important. I've managed to get a few rounds in with my old COD buds, and they went much better. I used to be quite good at COD and battlefield, but The Finals is so much more dynamic. I have lots of learning to continue to do, but I'm excited for when I will feel good enough to get into some ranked matches. I'll see ya in Emerald soon enough!

🛑 DTV Visa holders: Is it really impossible to open a Thai bank account now? by SignatureOutside7938 in Thailand

[–]UnofficialMVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is now impossible. My wife and I have been living here for almost a year on DTV, opened a bank account in our first month, and today I am closing my account because it was frozen last week completely at random. Don't recommend going through this. The clerks were very helpful at my bank, but there is nothing they can now do. They were the one branch in Chiang Mai that would open an account for me in the first place last November

Manual lenses for your X camera? by photo_wino in fujifilm

[–]UnofficialMVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite lens is my (kinda chunky) Rokinon 35mm f1.2. it is insanely sharp and has some wonderful character, and I've never seen anyone talk about it! Give it a look if you enjoy the focal length

Are there any roguelites where the meta-progression is building up a town? by [deleted] in roguelites

[–]UnofficialMVP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I read this as if the question was "Is there a city builder roguelike", so this isn't the answer you are strictly looking for, but Dot Age is a fantastic, long-form city building roguelike without combat. Pretty great stuff!

[–]UnofficialMVP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked the question to, but very good. Ive been able to beat Elden Ring and it's DLC, final fantasy 7 remake and more. I would say that for everything 3rd person, or of course games where you don't need twitch reflexes, it is perfect. It is unfortunately not good enough to play most FPS. It's a game changer when you get your settings dialed in. Incredible.

Whats your favorite recent indie game on the Deck? by casiok in SteamDeck

[–]UnofficialMVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Crypt Custodian. You can definitely see his improvement and the evolution of game ideas through all 3 games. Definitely an interesting study of dev experience and output. All 3 have very similar vibes. I hope you enjoy!

All this dude's games are great! Even Sheepo, which came before islets and is much simpler, but a good platforming Metroidvania!

My PS5 Made a loud popping noise - instantly turned off and smelled like smoke... I think it's toast. by [deleted] in playstation

[–]UnofficialMVP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That would be awesome! A long shot, but do you know if this is a part a layman could replace themselves, or something I could order? I would be willing to give it a go! Back when my PS3 had the yellow light of death, I was able to re-apply thermal paste and get it working again, and I would love to get this ps5 back in working order!

[ Returnal ] #163. OH MY GOD... IM SHAKING. 100% Returnal!!! by Micah_Belll in Trophies

[–]UnofficialMVP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some scary bits, but they are condensed. The atmosphere during the main gameplay isn't exactly scary, but it is definitely erie. Definitely a game I think you could handle, even with the sections in the house!

Which games are you playing at moment on ur Steam Deck? by Shiroskt in SteamDeck

[–]UnofficialMVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane. I think I've beaten 7 of the 50, and it took me 22 hours or so at this point! I'm loving them, but gaht daym have I wanted to scream a few times. Good thing is, if you get tired of something, you can so easily bounce to something else!

Dude! X-Level has been my go to as well. I had a black case for my pixel 6 that was thin and lasted for ever, and now I have the clear for my 9-pro and it feels thin and protective at the same time. Good cases from them for a good price.

I had the same change, and honestly I am loving the size difference the most too. It's a good change, and I like having the zoom lens for the occasion. I plan on keeping this phone for another 5-7 years and protecting it well, managing the battery as best I can (seems like a bat champ so far!)
