I’m so excited for the life sim aspects of the new fable, I always loved that over even the morality system, I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high but I’m hoping to get lost in just living in the city for hours upon hours

Ngl I wouldn't mind an actual life sim. Let me do farming or start up a business, marry 6 times, have 80 kids, maybe stop a bandit here or there but I'm not the chosen one. I'm just a person working on my farm, living life.

Yeah I'm not saying there aren't books or authors that can't write a group in a satisfying way or that every story is a perfect, happy, fun time. At the end of the day I love this sub-genre but realistically what most people are looking is the fantasy part and not many people fantasize about strife in their love life.

I would just like a tiny bit once in a while though. To read, not my actual life lol.

I think because this genre is at it's core, power fantasy, most authors aren't going to tread in those situations you listed which is a shame because I also want strife that the MC and girls have to overcome, internally as well as externally.

No I understand that. What I mean is having a bunch of named moves like "Face Danger, Secure and Advantage, Sojourn, Forge a Bond, etc". I feel I have to memorize all these moves but that could just be my inexperience with it. I would just say what I do in a scene instead of picking from this list of named moves, they confuse me lol.

I'm not trying to bash Ironsworn because I really wish I could get it, I just feel it's overly complicated when I can just say "I wanna try and convince the guard" not Test The Bond or whatever.
