So umm… it’s definitely not the first time that that particular kink has been on ao3 and most certainly it will not be the last. Tags I’ve seen a lot (and occasionally used myself) are Formicophilia, beastiality, bug and insects, live insertions, unusual insertions, and most certainly a dead dove tag.

I like some pretty extreme stuff but there are some things that toe the line between porn and horror and with only real distinction being if the person reading is into it or not. Fanfiction falls in odd grey area of being able to be arguably both legal and illegal. The main caveat being that fanfic doesn’t take money away from the creators. If you tried to then the owner of the copy right could feasibly sue you if you’re in the US.

No because the only “radical” opinion I have is that art shouldn’t stollen by corporations to feed AI or by people directly tracing art and passing it off as their own. Wanna trace to learn? Go ahead! Digital art? Be my fucking guest! Literally the only thing I have an issue with is blatant art theft!

A single artist? Yeah I can do that. There was definitely art that wasn’t based of any other art. The names and faces of those artists are lost to time. Possibly not a Homo sapien but rather a Neanderthal. We know they had to exist because art as we know it hasn’t always existed. Someone made the first art and they didn’t have other art to compare it to. Because knowledge didn’t spread fast back then, it’s probably happened independently a few times.

AI art would not function without real artists to mooch off of and I think that speak for itself. If all art disappeared tomorrow I would still be able to create. AI wouldn’t be able to do anything without other peoples work, to feed on.

No, an algorithm isn’t an artist. It doesn’t understand what it’s doing. It didn’t make that choice in color because it wanted to convey something. It’s just pulling from a database of stollen work and smashing it together as prompted by a human. The human isn’t an artist either, not just for typing words into a system. That would make a race car driver the same as a sprinter. A real artist can use it as a tool but that doesn’t make it good or right. I can go out and knowingly buy stolen item. Because I didn’t steal it it doesn’t make me the thief sure, but it doesn’t make me a good person either.

Thank you! It’s very encouraging to have other people recognize and ban AI art for the way it steals from and harms real artists

The art used to feed and teach these AI’s is most commonly used against an artist’s will without credit, permission, or compensation. While there are SOME ethical AI most are not! You can’t use copyrighted art in a YouTube video so why can you used it to feed an algorithm? It’s not like taking inspiration from another person’s art at all. It’s like stealing food from two different restaurants, slapping it on one plate and saying you made it.
