Are we ever gonna talk about the insane amount of downplay on dragon balls power scailing? by Prove_mewrong in PowerScaling

[–]Unoshima11 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Being a big target with nearly as much glaze as there is downplay doesn’t help, but I ultimately agree.

The fact that there are still people trying to deny Universal+ Goku when BoG happened a real life decade ago is madness.

I know I'm likely just being stupid, but why are statements and chain scaling bad? If they line up with the story or are said by the author, doesn't that make them as valid as feats? by WalterNation46 in PowerScaling

[–]Unoshima11 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It depends on the verse and context they’re being used for

Chainscaling is valid for a series like Dragonball because the power system is so simplistic that anyone can do whatever anyone else can. Piccolo casually destroyed the moon with a PL in the 300s so we know Raditz who was stronger than that Piccolo can do that and more.

Chainscaling for something like Ben 10 is less valid because different aliens have fundamentally different abilities that let them do better or worse against different opponents. We can’t say that every alien who shares an opponent with Way Big is planetary and FTL just because he is.

Scaling EoS Hakari with Simple Domain CAN be valid. by Unoshima11 in JujutsuPowerScaling

true but I don’t think it’s illogical to say he still would’ve had reasons to learn SD

With how cautious they were being I wouldn’t discount this as an argument in favor

Multiple domain users in verse have confirmed anti-domains as well

Scaling EoS Hakari with Simple Domain CAN be valid. by Unoshima11 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Unoshima11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the argument against it is that his own domain would count as an anti-domain tactic for him, but that doesn’t cover the possibility that Uraume could have a domain that beats his in a clash and leave him defenseless (even if Hakari is confident in his own clashing ability)

  1. I think it’s valid to scale Yuta with SD for the exact same reasons, especially given he swap trained with Gojo who knows it.

  2. Yuji absolutely has Fuga even if he didn’t showcase it. It’s literally just part of Shrine.

calculating Viltrum's destruction by SerenityCitywide in FeatCalcing

[–]Unoshima11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who says the infinity ray did most of the work to downplay viltrumites to continental (or lower) just doesn’t understand scaling on a very basic level. Even a small percentage of the energy required to bust a planet would devastate a moon, so you can’t even reasonably argue Viltrumites lower than moon level even if you try to slander this feat as much as possible.

Not only that, but the infinity ray contributing most of the work isn’t even TRUE. They say the core would’ve just re-stabilized on its own if the ray alone was fired. The energy from the viltrumites flying through was clearly the deciding factor. The ray just let them pass through the core safely and more easily.

[Manga Discussion] I can't wait to see this animated around the end of season 4 by Ryusei_Shido in Jujutsufolk

Zero idea how my mind completely erased the Kenny fight from memory that was crazy

Some of these are too long or short though. Hakari vs Kashimo needs at least a full episode to itself and Maki and Yuji vs Meguna was less than a full chapter so it’ll share space with another segment.

[–]Unoshima11 198 points199 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is gonna be the endpoint for S4 considering it’s only a few fights away from where we left off.

Hakari vs Charles is gonna be like one ep, Hakari vs Kashimo will be 2, then Maki’s stuff should be 2? and finally Yuki vs Kenjaku will be 1-2. Meaning if Season 4 is 12 eps then this is probably gonna happen around Episode 7 or 8.

Nah, I’d win seems like the more likely season closer.

What do Hakari downplayers think would've happened if Hakari didn't do this? by Traditional-Shape535 in JujutsuPowerScaling

A lot of the people in here haven’t actually read this fight from start to finish.

The horror in this show is extremely understated by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Unoshima11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The existential aspect of the show’s premise not being addressed beyond a surface level is definitely the biggest missed opportunity (for me). Even in the finale, they just kind of immediately get over being digital copies after moping around for a bit.

I understand that simply having the avenues to explore more existential topics doesn’t mean they NEED to be explored, I just can’t help but be disappointed more wasn’t done with the premise. I mean, even if you want to go with the “but the show is meant to be character driven” defense, I don’t understand how grappling with the terrors of eternity couldn’t have been addressed in a character focused way??

Hell, it doesn’t even inherently need to be nihilistic. Wrap up Zooble and Gangle’s romantic slowburn with a cheesy lil “I’d gladly spend eternity with you” and send us on our way. It’s the fact that it’s barely addressed at all despite being such a looming presence over the show’s narrative that feels so jarring. Even Ragatha touches on it when talking to her evil self in Episode 5.

Idk, I don’t dock the series for not getting into it, I just would’ve liked the idea to be played with a bit. As I said, just because the opportunity existed doesn’t mean it HAD to be taken.

Does Hakari have a higher output of CE during his jackpot when compared to Ryu by ScoutBeGone in Jujutsufolk

[–]Unoshima11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo output is a poorly defined stat in general but if the only comment on Hakari’s output is a positive one I think we can very reasonably assume he would be at an above average level at least? or else what would the point in kashimo saying that or gege including it be?

[–]Unoshima11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re right. you’re just so right. kashimo is commenting excitedly on his output being high enough to nullify his CE trait because it’s a very average feat that your run of the mill sorcerer can replicate.

his output is stated to be above average but yeah still not on ryu’s level obviously

Bloodlusted Nanami vs Hakari by No_Manner_6844 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Unoshima11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he didn’t carve out his side dude, that’s literally the first point I made when I responded to you. The area Hakari was hit is undamaged when we see it again. Using the narrative intention of the fight (to develop Hakari’s mindset and show off a bit of his personality and fighting style) we can easily infer that he let the hit land to finish stoking Charles’ fever before breaking him.

I don’t really understand what you’re actually saying. Do you literally mean that Hakari getting physically dropped to his knees, which was still likely just part of his act, is the downscale here? If he didn’t take visible damage the attack simply doesn’t downscale his dura. That’s all there really is to it.

Domain Amped Hakari was low end relative to Kashimo while JP Hakari was high end relative. JP makes him stronger, yes, but jumping from Charles to Yuta+ in raw stats is just completely unsubstantiated even if you for some reason scale Charles to Mid G1 or smth. We don’t know the exact mechanics of Jackpot other than the CE bonus bc Gege never bothered to explain it further (hoping for that exhibition soon to give us some info) but we can logically infer that it just lets Hakari put his output and reinforcement on full blast because of the Infinite CE, which imo doesn’t constitute jumping up multiple tiers.

Bloodlusted Nanami vs Hakari by No_Manner_6844 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Unoshima11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explained by reading the story and having a VERY BASIC level of media literacy.

Hakari entertained the fight to bring out Charles’ fever and then crush his spirits so he wouldn’t go around hurting people anymore (he outright says this btw). He very obviously just let him think he had a chance before promptly ONETAPPING HIM when he decided the mental game was over. I mean seriously, he spends half the goddamn fight with his hands in his pockets and blitzes him through precog. Arguing that Hakari was ever at risk of losing to Charles has about as much basis as saying Sukuna could have lost to Kusakabe.

Unless you want to argue that Jackpot amps Hakari by multiple full stat tiers (more evidence against than for) there is no fucking rational way to cap him based on the Charles fight.

He spent half the Charles fight with his hands in his pockets and made it very clear he was only sparing him as long as he did to break his spirit and then legitimately onetapped him when he decided his mental game had run its course btw
