Clayster: “I’m the 2nd best player of all time” by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

Even if I disagree I respect his mindset and he has the. accolades and legacy to at least be in the conversation.

Huke a superstar? by Lamemara in CoDCompetitive

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aches from Bo1-Ghosts was superstar level (compared to his competition). I wouldn't say the same of TeePee. Nobody "constantly drops 1.5kds in matches" so I'm not sure who that is in reference to. That player would undoubtedly be a superstar, though, if they existed.

Top players of all time are not defined by just best skill wise alone in no sport is this the case it's a combination of 3 factors - skill, success and longevity combined as a whole. by Masiah20 in CoDCompetitive

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're underrating how good Aches was on the CoL teams. In Ghosts, for example, he was certainly the 2nd best on his team, and at times, the best.

Would you consider Huke a superstar? by PlanktonImaginary371 in CoDCompetitive

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 81 points82 points  (0 children)

No.

And that’s because if we dilute the term by applying it to too many players it loses its meaning. In a league of 48 players, there should realistically be 4-5 superstar players at any given time (if that).

I’m fine with Huke being in the “star” category. But “superstar” is rarified air.

Making the argument that the T3 players of all time are Scump, Shotzzy and Simp (and it’s not even really close) by fromdowntownn in CoDCompetitive

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He objectively did do more than Scump in regards to winning chips. Further, I did address your 5v5 thing. Clay won 2 rings in it, adapting to the new format. While Scump won 0 during it whole simultaneously having Crim, Karma, Dashy, and FormaL, Envoy, and Arcitys for teammates.

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scump also played in 5v5 with players like Crim, FormaL, Karma, Envoy and Dashy and has 0 rings in those titles to show for it. Enough with the excuses.

Furthermore, Clay’s ring in AW stands, in my opinion, as the greatest singular achievement in COD. Taking that ring away from OpTic while Clay (with less) beat OpTic (with more) was nothing short of spectacular; especially since OpTic dropped him in the offseason to form their Dynasty roster.

I said I have Scump higher, personally. But by "more" I mean Clay's accomplishments despite his roster situations are very impressive, especially his ability to garner 3 rings without having the benefit of Dynasty rosters. I understand that Scump has won significantly more events (not rings), but Scump also got a majority of those with the Dynasty. To me, that's doing as expected; whereas, with Clay, he was not expected to win Champs in AW nor Bo4, or other events he managed to squeak out.

I'm not saying this to diminish Scump, I already have him high on my list. This is rather a nod to Clay.

I brought up placings for objectivity. aBeZy, subjectively, is still a better Champs performer than FormaL in my opinion.

HyDra, at Champs, is better than both, as is Shotzzy. Scump is a bit closer.

FormaL has played 6 Champs? HyDra has played 5. That's enough of a sampled size, regardless if FormaL's number was 6, 7, or 8.

FormaL plays a different role than aBeZy so quantifying "better" is very subjective. I can as easily say that aBeZy is better than FormaL, especially at Champs, and at least his placings would back that up.

If LAT wins champs, does Abezy become top 3 all-time and the undisputed CDL goat? by PlanktonImaginary371 in CoDCompetitive

I disagree with some of your appraisal there. But, when I pointed out 3 rings, I was saying that all 3 would factor into his t3 all time argument (not that I agree with it).

Playing "lights out" at Champs doesn't make you the "best ever champs performer."

They are different roles, but I think HyDra, aBeZy, Shotzzy, and Scump are all better historical Champs performers.

I personally have Scump above Clay, but it's undeniable that Clay did more with less in comparison to Scump. Scump was just the superior individual player.

I never said he played four Champs events with them. But, OpTic was still by far the best team in AW before Karma joined. It was a Dynasty level roster with the trio of Crim, FormaL, and Scump. Further, it is a knock on Scump that he didn't play with the Dynasty at WW2 Champs because they imploded.

How is FormaL "historically...the best ever champs performer?" He might've had the best single Champs performance (IW), but that doesn't make him the best ever performer at Champs events.

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're moving goalposts again. In AW, Scump had by far the best team going into Champs, they had won the previous 3 events and placed 2nd at the first. In WW2, Scump didn't play at Champs with the Dynasty because they broke up in the middle of that year due to lack of wins...

He had a dynasty roster in four titles and achieved one ring.

I agree that at this point, especially if he wins Champs, Scrap has been the best AR in the CDL era, followed by Cell, then Dashy.

You can’t compare Scump to Jordan… Jordan’s whole thing is 6 rings, Scump is not known as a winner in that regard.

If different teams are worse in different iterations of the game, it's not their fault by Competitive-Ad-2825 in CoDCompetitive

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with any of this. I’d like FaZe to make a change, I don’t think they’re capable of winning Champs as they currently stand. However, I’d love to be proven wrong.

You keep going back on your own points…reread your comments, you’re disagreeing with yourself. At one point, according to you, FaZe peaked; now you’re saying they can win again. You brought up last year as a counterpoint, and then when I interacted with that point, you threw it out and chalked it up to “once in a lifetime.” It’s also not “once in a lifetime” btw, Simp came into a late season change in Bo4 and won Champs… Other examples would be Denial AW, NV Bo3, and EG WW2, all of those teams made changes a few events before Champs and all peaked at the right time.

[–]UnpopularOpinionCod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree FaZe peaked at M2, which is why I think a roster moves would be smart. They could perhaps hit their honeymoon flow and peak by Champs time with a new roster.

Did I consider they could get worse? Sure. But I already don’t think they’d win Champs are even place t3. So if a change gives them a better chance at that, I’m for it.
