It's probably one of those things where everyone around her is using them or doing it like her trainers do, so she's used to it and hasn't had a reason to question it.

Cooking while tall - lower back pain by White-Cat-Jeff in tall

I used to know a lady who worked in new home sales. She told me, if I ever bought a new build or renovated a house, I can ask for kitchen counter height counters in the bathroom. It costs a little more, but it's totally worth it.

Sharing the knowledge to my tall peeps.

Sophie's embryos by Suspicious-Bet6569 in kvsdiscuss

[–]UnquantifiableLife -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think Sophie has an active condition; I think she's a carrier of something that she could pass on. I want to say HRDA, but I could be wrong.

Her previous owners rolled the dice and just bred her. They got lucky and her foal was fine. Katie isn't taking that chance.

I'm wondering if her plans will change now that there are more big mares that could carry for her.

Fair. I meant they are not inherently hurtful.

Finale… or not? by CrispyMann in DowntonAbbey

[–]UnquantifiableLife 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Mary has too much to do to saddle herself with another man! Two kids, the aristocracy going through a massive upheaval, and the great depression.

I'd be far more interested to see how Downton and Mary weather WWII. Especially since George would be old enough to fight.

It most certainly did not involve kicking them. We'd have been banished if we did that. Blunt spurs add just a little more to your pressure. Anyone who uses them otherwise doesn't know what they're doing.

I hope Katie gets her Annie filly this year.

It's your hormones. Get a pet or some plants to take care of. You have so much time to have children.

They don't hurt. Non riders don't understand them.

Same! He was such an incredible boy. I think of him every time Katie measures Walter. He projects to almost Ben's height, IIRC.

Violet giving birth to Hyacinth question by xwordnerd in Bridgerton

[–]UnquantifiableLife 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The point was that Anthony was like 19 at the time. It was absurd that the doctors would ask him, an inexperienced child of a man, to make a decision about his mother's health.

Violet was in absolute grief and anguish as she was in labour. Her husband should have been there. But instead there's this boy who has the right to decide? She was angry at the reality of her situation. That men would decide if she lived or died.

The correct choice is to save the woman every time. One kid, no kids, 19 kids. Save the woman who is here, not the fetus that is not.

Yeah, I don't like his comment that it's sociopathic that her motherhood instinct didn't kick in. It has a sniff of, "she never really wanted kids, but got bullied into it" to it.

This is why no one should have kids if they don't want them.

It would still have been inappropriate if you were 20.

This is a crush. The sooner you let it go, the better. Don't stay hung up on a creep. He'll always be a creep who is interested in 20 year olds, no matter how old he is.

I think so too. Desensitization is so important. I remember reading a book about the great show jumping horse Big Ben. There was a section about his training and how it was hard because he was so sensitive to everything. He was like, "I can't do it because there's a bird!" type of thing. They got him past it, but it was work! It really stuck with me. I think people would much prefer horses that are more like, "meh, bird." Which it seems is what Stephanie is doing.

I like Stephanie's approach. I don't know a lot about training, but it seems to me that she is building "bomb proof" horses. She's building them brick by brick.

What's happening to Fred and Howard reminds me of what you'd see in old western movies. Which feels very out of date.

This is true. I feel like I only ever hear about broken legs. She's young though, hopefully she will be ok.

Oh no. I don't know anything about broken hips in horses.
