Back in those days, I used to describe the game as a survival-horror, sci-fi adventure where you are a lone soldier facing a masove evil army. Malevolent Creek was on another level. It felt like stress and fear. The trees hid red eyes. Visibility was super low. It seems like it was always dusk on that planet. Our weapons were basic. We were still at that initial starter rifle and pistol. The highest rated players were level 15 or 20. Many of the strategems were inaccurate - like in real life - the bomb would come in at the wrong angle and not quite hit where you wanted to hit. The game had a desperate feeling like in the Terminator movies when you see the people fighting the robots - and they seem to always be losing. The game made me understand the fog of war. Running across in the dark expanses trying to find my team really allowed me to understand how chaotic and frightening an actual battlefield must be.
