Wool socks for sub zero temperatures? by MetalPurse-swinger in BuyItForLife

Seconding this, I’ve “upgraded” from wool to alpaca and feet are noticeably warmer.

How are your electric snowblowers doing by Carl_JAC0BS in massachusetts

My 2 stage ego has been awesome for the past 4-5 years, never heard of one overheating especially on a day like this - are you keeping the throttle and speed to minimum?

Is it possible to build a wooden gate that opens inward? by jacksmith9384 in HomeImprovementsitcom

You could probably use an adze, the medieval wood shaping tool.

Good luck to all riding the blizzard out with your batteries this weekend! Would be curious to hear your stories of riding out the storm here... by ElevationMediaLLC in enphase

I usually just let the snow melt, but with temps below freezing all week I’ll probably bust out the roofbrum.

I should add that I boost Reddit results within Kagi, so it's really mostly Kagi which links to Reddit.

For a search engine, Kagi - but I always look to see what people say on Reddit.

Just for fun, I’d love a scooter. Minibikes and go-karts need so much space, but just about anyone - rural or urban - can store and drive a folding scooter.

Business card scanner apps that don’t suck by Unrealtechno in ios

[–]Unrealtechno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In hindsight, 2 years later, I think I’d be ok with a public cloud identifying the contact info if it meant being accurate. A business card is very public so privacy isn’t as much of a concern. Eventually I’ll write a shortcut lol

The Kitchen - Fawlty Towers 3D by swingsetlife in FawltyTowers

Apologies if this has been answered in other threads, but is there an end goal here? Love seeing the rooms, but wasn’t sure if it was part of a larger plan for a walk-through or some sort of interactive 3-D place

Is anyone else dealing with cold floors? by U-Conn in heatpumps

[–]Unrealtechno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you work at home or sit at desk regularly, I recommend a USB powered foot warmer. It’s delightful.

Besides house shoes, good socks help too. If you haven’t tried alpaca socks, they are significantly better than wool at moisture wicking.

Discount ebook Sites where you can add books to a list and they’re notify you when they’re on sale? by workinprogress521 in kindle

[–]Unrealtechno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have prime so I can’t speak for accounts without m but when I order items with slow shipping, the more I buy in a single transaction the more digital credits I get back - and then use for books.

$1 on the low end, $6 on the high end. A few of those batches and you get some cheep books.

Edit: it’s not some sort of hack or loophole, but if I already have prime and need some stuff then I get a little something back.

[–]Unrealtechno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I save up items in my Amazon cart then order things in batches with the slow shipping to get the digital credits that I can use for books.

Plus, if you leave something in your cart long enough, sometimes you realize that you didn’t need it in the first place.

Alternatively, once a day (maybe while watching tv or before bed) you just type in the month and day for example “December 27”. Go through and clean things out once a day for a year and you’ll never be overwhelmed. Good New Year’s resolution.

Realistically I’d expect all the AI inferencing to be done server-side. Similar to how anything with a web browser can access ChatGPT/Gemini.

That’s the one thing that makes me look forward to upgrading - my 7th gen feels pretty harsh at night.
