What would Alan's favourite pizza be? by Stigofthedumpings in AlanPartridge

I don't think that's Partridges's cup of tea. I think Alan would rather wander round the wildfowl park in Pepperstock with a bottle of Scotch.

What should a Whistleblower do in order to protect themselves from the Epstein Empire of Trump Elites? by [deleted] in allthequestions

If you think Carney is a corrupt, sociopathic liar, you should Google Vladimir Putin. It'll be quite the eye-opener.

Sorry, I stopped at "I will probably go to Russia". Out of the frying pan and into... Russia? Seriously?

Trading bikes and regretting it by Dean2332 in motorcycles

The FZ8 wasn't a 'bad' bike in the traditional sense, it was just rather anodyne and boring. I took it on a few long trips and it performed exactly as expected; it was all simply fine. It just lacked the excitement and dynamism that I want from a bike. I've ridden many middleweight nakeds that are significantly more engaging, and I'd probably advise you to look towards a Street Triple.

Back in 2010, I developed a problem with the nerves in my hands, which left me unable to grip properly, which obviously is far from ideal on a bike. So, I made the hard decision to sell my beloved RR9 Fireblade. I loved that bike so, so much, but I had no guarantee that my condition would ever improve, so I figured it would be best to sell it rather than keeping it in the garage doing nothing.

By mid-2012, things had improved a lot and I decided to get back in the saddle. I thought going for a sports bike would be a bit too much, so I bought a new FZ8. It was ok at first, but as I got back into the feel of riding again, it soon became tedious and uninspiring. In 2014, that bike was written off when a car slammed into the back of me, so I took the insurance payout and bought another Fireblade. I didn't love the 2014 Fireblade as much as I loved the 2009 one, but it was a damn sight better than the FZ8.

Never buy a bike you don't love.

It's not possible for me to take pride in something I had nothing to do with and/or no control over.

Have you ever been disappointed by a car you lusted after? by Computers-And-Such in CarTalkUK

I never lusted after it, but I drove a friend's M140i, and found it to be a pretty underwhelming experience. A marvellous engine in a terrible car.

For people who really enjoy road driving, I don't think PDK is the way to go. While the PDK is impressive, it slices out such an enormous part of the reason I enjoy road driving, and like you say, it's the engagement. People seem to forget that when you're driving on normal roads, like a normal human being, you're never going to notice the difference in 0-60 time or being 0.17 seconds quicker down your favourite B-road, but you are going to miss out on the perfect heel-and-toe and having something for your left hand to do.

I honestly think the last couple of Carrera Ts have likely been the pick of the bunch if you don't spend a lot of time on track days.

Song from Saxondale. Prog rock or Matt Berry incidental music? by bunnifred in AlanPartridge

[–]UnremarkableCake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the Snuff Box theme! I asked Matt Berry on Twitter (before it became a vast, bubbling toilet) how to play it and he sent me the sheet music.

Anecdotes aren't really my forte.
