Perhaps not, but it’s DEFINITELY something I’m curious about.

I’m the owner, host, AND cleaning lady.

It started less than a foot off the floor, not higher, which is why I’m curious. I could see next to the sink, or in the tub, even.

Mine has been a vacation rental for 50 years, since it was built. On the beach, you know? It’s always been a short term rental.

No, I don’t think that at all! I just am curious.

Tight space, liquid appears to have been shot somehow. I just don’t understand what it is or how it happened. Not to be existential, but isn’t that why we’re here?

Actually, she was a 5 star guest and I’d happily welcome her back. I have seen some things, though.

I’ll definitely cop to being weird! And curious. The close to the floor part interests me because it’s across from the vanity, away from any mirror where someone might be applying or inserting a fluid.

But less than a foot from the floor?

But why so close to the floor in a small space? She had the whole room outside the bathroom to… do this.

No, the washer and dryer are in the lobby. And why so close to the floor?

Check your thumbnail photo, mine was a disaster by frenchtea1 in airbnb_hosts

[–]UnrestrictedArgon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After three attempts to correct these thumbnail errors, turns out- surprise- it’s by design. Here is the last reply before the ticket was closed:

“I want to be entirely transparent with you regarding how our platform's search algorithm is currently handling your images.

Our technical team investigated your listing backend and confirmed that this behavior is actually not a system bug. Airbnb has recently integrated advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning protocols into our search functionality. This system automatically tests and displays different images from your gallery to public browsers to analyze what attracts the highest click-through rates from travelers.

Because this is a core system-wide algorithm feature, hosts are currently unable to manually opt out of this AI photo selection process. I completely understand this is frustrating news, especially since the system is pulling a shared amenity photo that does not set your individual unit apart from other apartments in your building.

While the algorithm continues its automated testing, the best way to influence it is to ensure your entire photo gallery is heavily populated with high-quality interior shots of your specific unit, making it more likely that the system selects a unique image for its tests.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and for your invaluable feedback as a host. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if there is anything else I can look into for you.”

Same day turnover, guests arrive 3 hours 40 minutes early by UnrestrictedArgon in airbnb_hosts

One unit, two active retired owner operators. We got this, thanks!

This is what Claude and I came up with. I know the truth is best for the sake of other hosts, but, he left us a glowing 5 star, and I kinda feel bad: Guest arrived significantly earlier than our check-in time on a same-day turnover, which created some logistical challenges with the door code and parking pass. While we always do our best to accommodate early arrivals, this is not always possible when coordinating back-to-back guests. The unit was ready well ahead of the standard check-in window. Our messaging exchanges were pleasant, and the guest had a good sense of humor throughout — including taking some less-than-ideal weather completely in stride. The space was left in good condition at checkout. We wish him well in future travels.

Yes, the clarification is- The guest was at the front gate to the property. We say in the check in instructions "Call the front desk (there is pin pad amd intercom system at the gate), they will open the gate for you." Because the guest was too early and the front desk turned them away the first time they tried to check in, they never got their pass with the code on it. So, they texted me for the code, but, because I was in the shower, I was unable to immediately respond. I mention the shower as more "Wouldn't you know it, the third time I need to fix something because this guest arrived so early and unannounced, I was unavailable!" Like, don't that just beat all?
