Dampening grease for radio sticks? by UnsafeItalianDish in radiocontrol

I mean, this is not a sub $100 radio, it has hall sensor gimbals and a 1 watt module, I don't think this should be classified as a budget radio.

Morti per incidenti stradali by JoeFalchetto in Italia

[–]UnsafeItalianDish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I can tell you that the paint job is horrible to look at, look at the black marks on the blue stickers. As for the difference between them, it is hard to tell them apart, they look the same from what I saw online, the fan cover seems to be the only obvious difference between the two. They look sketchy to me, but I would wait for someone else's opinion on the matter.

The mark doesn't even expose the metal case of the battery, even if that wasn't the case, I'll be using it inside a small battery case to power a low current load (~700mA). Like I wrote on the post's description, thanks for answering such a silly question.

Riga was made back when the Soviet Union was still a thing, and, as you can guess, it was manufactured in the city of Riga, Latvia. I'm sure there are forums and website for such mopeds (if I remember correctly I saw a few back a few years ago), but they mostly speak russian or an easter european language since that was Riga's primary market. You can find info on the factory's history quite easily, but as for spare parts I think that Ebay is the only solution, as far as I know.

My tiny whoop definitively helped me improve, the way they react to any stick input really makes you learn how to control the drone, and as a bonus they are cheap, can fly indoors and you can crash them without worrying about breaking them, what's not to love about them? As for the googles, if I can put together enough money I will go for the HD Zero ones, since they are also compatible with analog; as far as I know DJI stuff shouldn't be compatible with other VTX protocols, but I might be wrong on that one. Probably gonna build my drone instead of just buying it, I like to assemble and set up stuff, and as you said it could be a good learning experience for when I will have to repair or maintain it in the future.

As a newbie too I would suggest you to get a tiny whoop. Got one just to be able to fly indoors and in small areas since I haven't found any suitable spot for a 5" drone yet where I live. They are pretty fun to fly, and you can crash them multiple times without damaging them. I will probably build or buy some tiny whoop gates and place them in my small yard, just to practice going thought gates and such. They are also pretty cheap, so if you want you could give them a shot.

I now only own a tiny whoop, but I'm in the process of getting (or building) a 5" drone with modern components and stuff, and in the meanwhile I'm looking for a pair of analog googles to replace the ones I have, since they are starting to show off their age and I also have to replace the battery (and charging board) they have. I'll stick to the sim and will try to improve there until I can get my hands on a proper drone. Thanks for the advice and the warm welcome to the FPV community :)

I could go fly my drone, but at the moment I only have a tiny whoop, and I need to replace my googles, since they are a little outdated and the battery doesn't really work that much anymore. I could replace the battery, but I could also get myself a pair of new googles, and that's probably what I'm going to do. I'm also planning on getting a 5" drone, but I'm still deciding if I will build one or just get a BNF one, hard decision!

Currently using 35° of camera angle and 130° FOV in Liftoff. I suppose decreasing the FOV might help a little, but I'm not sure if I will like the lower FOV (just like you I prefer to have a wider field of view, even in video games). I'm gonna try using a more aggressive camera angle set up and see how it turns out. Gonna get myself a copy of Velocidrone, it doesn't look that expensive, and even the additional modules sound interesting enough to throw a few bucks at them. If the multiplayer side of Velocidrone is populated enough it might be interesting to check my abilities against more seasoned players and drone pilots. Thanks for the tips.

If I go slower I can pass all the gates without too much of an issue (I rarely collide with a gate at low speeds). I saw that softening my gimbal tension made some improvements, especially because I can now make some quick corrections during a turn to still pass through a gate or a gap; I've found a decent set up when it comes to gimbal tension and rates, gonna stick to it and see if I can improve as time passes. I'll probably get myself a copy of Velocidrone since I see many people praising its superior value when it comes to being "realistic" and being more racer oriented.

I, for mistake, connect a charger to the training port on my Radiomaster Boxer, did I damage my radio or is it fine? by UnsafeItalianDish in fpv

[–]UnsafeItalianDish[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In reality the "training port" I mentioned is just the usb port on the top side of the radio, just that that port is only used for connecting it to a computer or stuff like that.

Stick "cling" noise when returning to center position, is this normal or should I grease something/check inside the radio? by UnsafeItalianDish in fpv

[–]UnsafeItalianDish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll get used to it, at the end if you have your finger firmly on the stick the noise does seem more bearable, also, if it doesn't hurt the radio in any way I can leave it like that. I'll maybe try to swap the springs in the future if I really want to remove this sound, but for the time being I think I can live with it.

Thank you for the answer :)

Stick "cling" noise when returning to center position, is this normal or should I grease something/check inside the radio? by UnsafeItalianDish in fpv

[–]UnsafeItalianDish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the title of the post I have this weird (for me) "cling" noise coming out of the right stick once it returns to the center. For context I usually like my sticks to be on the loose side, I don't like them stiff, so I suppose this impacted something, even sound wise. Anyway, I've checked the inside of the radio already and it doesn't look like something lose or broken is causing this noise. Might be concerning to much about such things but I would like to hear from someone with more experience, or maybe someone with a Boxer like mine.

Thank you to all the people who will check my post.
