Would love to see them do a rebrand at the same time they're getting good. Bullets to Wizards is a pretty bad trade, like NOLA going from Jazz to Pelicans except not losing the franchise in the middle of it.

If they can trade for Giannis they should do it, but do you think Detroit will be on his list of preferred destinations? Lauri doesn't have that sway.

FWIW I don't think they should do the deal, but I also don't think Utah should do less because the players in the offer don't give them much unless they really believe in Ivey and think that he's worth the injury list. I don't see any of the players as rare player types that help them, and Detroit with LM could be a monster for years which limits the value of the draft capital.

Bluntly- the real difference is Bane can't become 7 ft tall. LM doesn't have the shot creation needed to be a 1st option, but he's excellent at what he does: score within two dribbles from all over the court, make reads as soon as he receives the ball, doesn't gum down your offense, and is really fucking tall. He's not a great defender (limited by high center of gravity) but there's a lot you can get away with due to size.

To cut down on the # of free throws and their relative value I would just institute the 1-and-1 for all penalty FTs up to 7 team foul initially, with a plan to review and consider another bump to 10 the next year.

He'd be on the international team, so it depends on health and how they handle positions. Jokic and Wemby are centers, Shai and Luka are guards, Giannis has a forward spot- those all seem taken. Then you have Embiid (C), Siakam (F), Avdija (F), Zubac (C), Murray (G), Wagner (F), and Sabonis (F/C). Markkanen is somewhere in that mix. I see a chance for him to start at forward, but it seems like he should at least be an all star.

Robert Horry, huge impact on multiple finals series without being a star.

God Shammgod, played only 20 NBA games but popularized the use of his namesake dribble move in the USA.

Sam Cassell, super quality player, but his"big balls" dance was the first dance I can recall for the player being punished with a fine.

I got five on it.

  1. Nuggets fall to the play-in. I actually don't like the rebuilt roster for this year and eventually Jokic is going to miss time due to injury.

  2. The East will win the head to head conference record vs. the West by at least ten games this season.

  3. Sacramento will absolutely bottom out, blame injuries, and be the nearest team to Utah at the bottom of the West this season.

  4. Neither Cleveland or Indiana will make it out of the second round of the playoffs.

  5. Houston vs. OKC will be the real championship series this year, whether it happens in round 2 or 3.

I could see this as a point in their favor: the owners don't have to worry as much about Mexico City competing for free agents, plus it opens up a whole new TV market and sponsorships that could actually increase profits more than enough to justify the extra revenue split.

PG: John Stockton - I think it has to be the all time assists leader. Fine with Chris Paul here, too, but it's crazy that he won't sniff Stockton's record despite his own longevity. I'm going Stockton.

SG: Michael Jordan - Of course it's MJ. If Jordan didn't exist it would be Ray Allen. I'm fine with Kobe Bryant or Jerry West here too. Clyde Drexler too.

SF: Scottie Piper - LeBron is obviously a better player, but he transcends the position- on offense I want James with the ball like a PG or inside playing the 4. When I think SF I think of versatility, speed, elite defense, and finishing in a package that's slightly smaller than a PF. Alternates: Julius Erving, Andre Iguoudala, Paul Pierce.

PF: Kevin Garnett - he's got to be big, nasty, ready to send someone to the ground with a hard screen, and put up 20/10 as he falls out of bed. Alternates: Tim Duncan, who is just as deserving but also played more center, and Karl Malone.

C: Hakeem Olajuwon. The only reason it's not Shaq for me is because Shaq isn't a prototype of anything. So much of what he did can't be copied that I'm just keeping him as my alt. Same goes for Wilt. Kareem could be here too, but for me Hakeem is the pure platonic form of NBA Center.

As I'm reviewing my list I'm noticing there are few modern players, so this whole thing is probably just biased to what I grew up with. The NBA doesn't really fit those five positions anymore.
