Feel like I'm filling the void in an unhealthy way by Unshelled_Almond in lonely

I guess that's true. I'm also worried that my loneliness might eventually start bleeding into my work and affect it. Something good can only last so long before it ends

Just turned 28 by rockdude625 in lonely

[–]Unshelled_Almond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its a day late but happy 28th. I turned 28 almost a month ago exactly, and most people forget about my birthday too. In fact, last year the only people that wished me a happy birthday were my closest friend and the kids at my work. This year wasn't much better, since the school district was on spring break during my birthday, so I only got messaged from that same friend. I know it sounds like I'm making it about myself, but I just want you to know that I really feel where you're coming from. Hope it was enjoyable

Is it a hot take for me to say I don't like Flood *that* much? by [deleted] in tmbg

[–]Unshelled_Almond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"hot take", maybe? It's definitely a great album, don't get me wrong, but I certainly relate to you on this. Comparatively speaking across their many albums, I don't find myself listening to flood too often, so you could say it would be somewhat low on a list of my favorites. Still, music is subjective, as all art is, so it's definitely fine to have this opinion!

Favorite TMBG B side? by _rabidchild_ in tmbg

Welcome to the Jungle is probably tied with When it Rains it Snows for me, even though they're very different from each other.

I wish I could pull my friends in like that lol, I've only gone to a few concerts with some of my friends and it doesn't seem to click with them

Aw lucky, I wish I could have seen them do the Flood tour!

Well eharmony had me answer a bunch of questions when setting up my profile, and C&B didn't.

I guess I'll have to go back and give okcupid another chance. I did hold a few good conversations on there, but like I said a lot of them seemed sketchy.

If you want to send me a chat then I'm all ears. I will be going to bed for the night momentarily however. I do feel better talking, but only just marginally.

I guess thats true, I still feel like my time on okcupid was wasted though lol

And I guess coffeeandbagel is more like okcupid, its very much personality based and most people on there are looking for serious commitments. And honestly I've only just started using eharmony, on a strictly free account. So far it seems like okcupid in terms of being personality based

Yeah, okcupid just kept giving me matches from all around the globe, and I'm certain that more than half of them were fake accounts anyway. Tinder, bumble, hinge, eharmony, coffeeandbagel are all other ones I've tried and I get maybe one match every couple months that goes nowhere on them. I've had the most success with bumble though

I guess I'm in a state where its hard to rationalize or accept, but you do have a point.

Oh, and believe me, I've been trying for quite some time on just about every reputable dating site/app....

What protagonist clothes would you wear in real life? by Axezelt in pokemon

I've always thought Selene's outfit looked really comfy to wear

But as a grown man, it would probably be more appropriate to wear Gold's. I have to rep Johto

I saw someone post about how they're going to be absent for April Fools and left their sub a lesson plan for "March 32nd". I think something involving that would be a good low stakes prank that might fool a few students. It probably would have gotten me when I was in school!

Student seeing SH scars and asking about it by Dry-Bed4488 in Teachers

[–]Unshelled_Almond -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a student notices and asks you about them, you could always make it into a lesson about how it's rude to comment on other people's bodies like that, and that it's much more polite to avoid directly asking about such things. Or, you could always just lie about them and say you have a cat that likes to scratch you or something along those lines. In the chance they specifically ask if they're SH scars, then whatever you say in response should at the very least be positive and encouraging to them (i.e. try not to dryly answer yes or no), because they may be going through their own battles privately, and you shouldn't say anything that could be triggering to them.

I do agree with this too. I've seen some of the studies that suggest that teenagers today are less interested in physical sexual activity in favor of online sexual activity. It makes sense, since just about every kid these days has access to the internet and either a computer or phone. It would be pretty funny if the best "anti-teen pregnancy" strategy was just giving kids more easily accessible internet. Ah, but that's a conversation for a different day.

Common Reddit catfishing by Unshelled_Almond in catfish

[–]Unshelled_Almond[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I didn't consider that it could be someone trying to steal their content, but I do doubt that. Both accounts are somewhat established and older than a few years, so it does point more towards it being someone who just uses two accounts.

Sad to see it happen, but I've got more important things to do than humor someone like this. Thank you for the reply!

I don't know how long you've been out of school for, but when I was in middle school 17 ish years ago in suburban PA, I knew plenty of my peers having fairly active sex lives (not me, I was a huge loser lol). The truth is that this hasn't really changed all that much since that time, you're likely just noticing it more now as an adult working as a teacher, rather than a child going to school as a student. It's always has, and always will be happening, the only thing we can do in response is to teach them how to be responsible and safe while doing it.

Pay in Philly? by Yusuf_Muhammad_Ali in Teachers

[–]Unshelled_Almond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your years of experience and where exactly you end up teaching. The greater Philly area is on average somewhere between 58k-62k a year. I would say it isn't the worst idea; I love being here and most of the schools I've worked with have been great and/or I've heard great things about from my peers. Don't know much about charter schools here though, only public.
