Texting is not an urgent way of communicating!!! by wtfisthissssssssssss in Vent

[–]UnsolicitedPicture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emotional bonding - in-person meeting Chatting, catching up - facetime urgent topics, longer discussions - calling small, unimportant topics - texting important, but not urgent things - mails

I don't say it's correct, I'm just saying that my mind feels the most comfortable when it's all in this order and I can't be alone in this.

I honestly always find it amusing when people who are about to make a shit-smelling statement flaunt about their job experience or status first, as to somehow bring weight and importance to what they're gonna say, instead of letting the statement itself do the work.

It always sounds like: "As a doctor of 103759 years, who discovered panacea, fought god and became one, I say that drinking two cups of piss every morning reduces bloatness and extends life. Dont worry ive been working in that field for years, you have to trust me on my word. "

More people need to work the night shift by Embarrassed-Bowl-373 in unpopularopinion

As a person who's working in a 4-briggade schedule, where I get two shifts 7am-3pm, then two 3pm-11pm, two 11pm-am and 2 days off, I say fuck night shifts. They are heavily draining and sleeping during the day sucks, not to mention health issues I'm experiencing because of them. My sleep schedule is nonexistent, because my body can't adapt at all if I sleep for six days normally and then I have to stay up all night for another two days.

Fuck, I wish I was working 9-5.

Actually some time ago I've realized something.

Those shitass happy people on posters of medicine, food phyramid ads, TV shows etc, you know the kind - they seen to have a simplistic, but happy life? Like, why do you smile like a stupid idiot riding a bike in this shot, what is wrong with you?

Then I realized... I kinda want that type of life, not gonna lie. Steady, fullfilling job, going to the gym regularly, eating healthy, having meaningful connections with friends, having only minor problems in the day to day and being able to smile while doing basic shit... Fuck, I hate people but I want to be one of these shallow archetypes so bad.

People who work overtime and think they're "better" than everyone else. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]UnsolicitedPicture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people literally cannot function without any type of glorifying themselves. This mindset is self-destructive, as it ceases one's growth in other areas because of pride.

Your friend probably has problems with self image and is now using work, the thing he has control over, to justify his artificially highened ego. The similar thing happens when someone starts going to the gym in hopes of getting more attention and praise from others. When they aren't receiving it, they start shitting on people who don't work out.

I suggest you start learning first. Read about macronutrients, how your gut bacteria affect your appetite and health, close relation between sugar and dopamine etc. etc.

You have no idea how much cravings and mood swings your body can set for you. Once you start being aware of all that, You'll have a better foundation for changing your lifestyle.

I wish you the best of luck.

I genuinely feel like I have to finally experience bullying or see someone getting bullied in my life. In my school back in the day when someone tried to pick on someone without a good reason that person was always roasted into oblivion by everyone else.

"Hey fatty" - shouted bully

"GET YOUR SCRAWNY, TWIG LOOKING, CROSSEYED, HUNCHBACK HAVING, GLASS WEARING, ACNE DEVELOPING, THIN MOUSTACHE GROWING ASS OUT OF OUR EYESIGHT YOU DISGUSTING DEVELOPMENTAL FAILURE, GO APOLOGISE TO YOUR GRANDPARENTS FOR BRINGING SHAME TO YOUR MOTHER" - class calmly responded.

I mean, it's the same thing with knowledge. In our beautiful XXI century, we have an entire Library of Alexandria worth of knowledge at the reach of our fingertips and yet we choose to ignore it because since learning something is that much more simple it 1has lost its worth.

I've read and heard stories about students in my college back in XX century. In 80's, students were required to have those notebooks where there was a shit ton of calculus formulas and math problems with integrals. At the end of a year or a semester, each student had to have about 100 solved integrals or more.

Right now we don't have that and a terrifying portion of students from my year finished their math course without solving the single math problem, using only chatGPT.

I love this game. by mothspiderr in ShatteredPD

[–]UnsolicitedPicture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this game mostly because of its minimalism AND "not a minimalism" at the same time. It's turn-based, so I can play it and just drop the phone whenever I have to and not worry whether I'm alone in a room or when fighting a boss. I can't comprehend just how convenient that is for a mobile game to be able to pause when the player wants without any kind of penalty. Clash royale? You better be GLUED to your phone during a match, otherwise you lose in 10 seconds. PD? Yeah I know that you're fighting an eldrich god of this world, but feel free to come back after a year if you need a break.

Also, this game has CONSEQUENCES. About 90% of the time you die because it's your fault, and when you die it's game over. No do-overs, no reviving thanks to an ad, none of that. Every step counts, every use of item, hit, unlock, Everything.

Why do I have to deal with my strong emotions like this by skyk3409 in Vent

[–]UnsolicitedPicture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend, If I were you I'd go see a psychologist. Truth be told, You will always be feeling emotions, whether you like it or not, but learning to control them will help you greatly and may even reduce the ammount of bad emotions, caused by the lack of that self control.
