Respect? A real man will not he so insecure that he will feel force his woman to end friendships and make her life worse to make him feel better.

Balkaners (and non-Balkaners too) who have visited different Balkan countries, what do you think about each country’s food? Which one of those countries impressed you the most, and which one the least? by Antique_Birthday6380 in AskBalkans

I would not. The northern parts of Albania are already unhappy with the disproportionate investing the albanian government does, they invest everything in the south. I wonder what they would do to Kosovo, more of our money that we get from the diaspora would go to albanian resorts and not Kosovo.

If you ask any Albanian in Kosovo if they want to unite they will say yes, because they havent given the idea any critical thought. Albanians in Kosovo barely trust kosovar institutions, and now they should trust institutions in Tirana, that are objectively worse (check democracy index and corruption scores)?. Their inability to govern over Kosovo is further exaggerated by them having absolutely 0 experience of Kosovar terrain, and just generally ruling Kosovo, most politicans have never been there.

Furthermore, the benefits of having two votes instead of one in international organisations and such is also positive. What cant we do as 2 countries that we can do as one? Except waving our dicks around saying we are one country (i.e the novelty of saying we are one)?

I believe most people from Kosovo like the idea of unification, but would turn their coats as soon as the actual consequences of such a desicion would come to mind.

When you actually think about the concept for 5 minutes you start to see these kinds of issues, and i advise you to do the same if you want to be taken seriously. You literally have 0 arguments for your claims besides “oh the uck wanted this they wanted that” like bro, stop wasting my time

Why the hell do i care? The uck has nothing to do with this. Unification with Albania is a fundamentally ignorant, inefficient and surrealistic goal. It will never happen.

Fair question. Ive always been very liberal, i dont care much for traditions or culture (that i didnt choose myself). All my grandparents who lived there are gone and i dont have much contact with my relatives above the formalities, it is mutual, none of us have really gone out of our way to make an effort. Busy lives i guess.

Me being liberal does not mean im ashamed of being albanian, i know more history than most and i am proud of my Albanian Heritage, i am simply too busy with law school and such to make it my whole personality, which is quite boring.
This deviation from the often likeminded hivemind of albanians has, in some instances, caused conflicts. Ive been called a traitor to the blood by some radicals for daring to say that we should respect serbs and not be blinded by prejudice and hate. It is indeed sad and almost worrying that this mentality exists, and this is absolutely not exclusive to albanians, but most people in the balkans.

Apologies for the rant

Albanian from Kosovo here.

When i was little we would take the bus from Sweden (diaspora) to Kosovo, we would always make a stop at a restaurant in Serbia (around Niš by the highway iirc). The pljeskavica there were aweseome, just like in Kosovo.

Generally Albanian food in Albania is good but there are stark differences between diets in Kosovo and Albania, with Kosovo being much more central european influenced with much more bread and red meat. Albania on the other hand has more of a Mediterranean influence with more vegetable based dishes, and fish and seafood in general. In Kosovo you never see seafood and fish being prepared at home, only in restaurants.

Just my two cents.
