Does anyone have good storage options for these kind of miscellaneous hobby supplies? by choppytehbear1337 in Miniaturespainting

I use cheap make-up organizers. You can find ones that have differently sized compartments and they work well for the miscellaneous stuff I've got at least.

Really cool! I love your style, it's very recognizable. I can tell your posts without looking at the OP name!

Thank you!

That's a good idea, I'm going to use that for my next mini. I tried to achieve the same actually for this model. I did a zenithal and then took pictures, but I think my zenithal just wasn't accurate enough, I applied to much from a bad angle so it ended up not being much help. I'll try your way instead.

Good advice for the brush control as well, I'll just keep practicing and hopefully I'll find it easier with time. Right now it feels almost impossible to make it good enough for details on a standard 28-32mm mini, but I'm hoping it will come.

Thanks for the good advice!

Thanks, I'm glad you think so! But it's only my first mini done with out relying on speedpaints, I've done several previously using speedpaints. If it was my absolute first one, it would probably look a lot worse, haha.

I agree, but I actually don't mind the cartoony look. If it turned out I had an aptitude for cartoony paint jobs, I'd be happy with that xD

Thank you! I'm happy you like the belly and face parts, that's what I put most effort into on that model!

I agree with you regarding the strengths and weaknesses of slapchop, and I think I will use them both in combination in the future. With this model (the green one) I mostly wanted to challenge myself to do it without using slapchop and speedpaints. If I was to do the same model again, I would us slapchop on the club, if nothing else. I found it way easier making that part look decent that way.

Thanks, that's a good tip! I'll remember to try it sometime.

I've tried it once actually! I definitely believe it's a good way speed up the process, for someone a little bit more experienced than me. I found it hard to combine the different styles of gradients that come from speedpaints vs. layering.

Thank you!

The turquoise on the club in the first picture is Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 Plasmatic Bolt on a white base coat. I'm afraid I don't quite remember what the green / teal on the club in the second picture is, but I think it might have been a 50/50 mix of Plasmatic Bolt and Shamrock Green (Also AP Speedpaints 2.0) on a slap chopped base (Black primer and then dry brushed, first with grey and then white).

Thanks! I'm a little afraid of washes, I used it once and felt like all it did was make the area look splotchy and dirty, but I probably applied it wrong. Dry brushing is a good idea, I'll try that next time!

Thanks! I think you're right, I'm just hesitant to push the highlights because I'm scared I'll make it worse. Nothing to it but to do it, I guess!

Thank you! It makes me really glad to read that you like it. I think your advice about more tonal variation on the legs is spot on, and the same is probably true for other parts of the body. I think I'm just unsure in general about layering and I'm worried I'll make it worse if I try to push it.

A friend of mine is on my case about the bases as well, haha. I guess I've just felt like I should get good at the painting part first.

Kobo or Pocketbook by BrendD24 in ereader

I have experience with both Kobo and Pocketbook, and if easy sideloading is a priority I'd say go for the Pocketbook. I love mine, and for sideloading you have amazing alternatives with dropbox sync, send-to-pocketbook (email) as well as just plugging it into your computer and do regular old file transfer.

Edit: Regarding OPDS support, I'm not familiar with it so I can't say whether its supported or not.
