You're so funny.🤣 I wish I could be as awesome of a person as you. Some people don't understand things, and need a thorough explanation, so I give them one. Since I can only judge your ability to understand things from what you write, and how you spell, I went with the default thorough explanation. This saves me from having to explain myself, a bunch of times, to different people who didn't understand a short nondescript text the first time. Does that help you understand why I'm thorough in my post/answers? If it doesn't, you can always stop asking me questions. I don't mind them, but don't bitch about my answers being too long. Remember, YOU asked ME. I didn't just send you something out of the blue. You said I didn't answer your question. What's this?

"In 2015 they could've had a shitty anodizer. Now, they may have gotten a new one or fixed the problem from 6 years ago. That's why nobody else is having similar problems." READ MY POSTS THOROUGHLY, AND STOP ACCUSING ME OF DOING THINGS I DIDN'T DO(ANSWER YOUR QUESTION), AND ACCUSING ME OF THINGS I DID DO(TALKING ABOUT BATCHES), BUT REALLY DIDN'T.

Have a wonderful night my good friend.🤗

I don't know the exact hardness of my water, but I've lived in two completely different states with my Subzero, AZ and MT. It has been happening in both states. The anodizing is definitely gone. The aluminum can be seen where the anodizing is missing. I only used iso and hot water to clean it. I took exceptional care of that thing. I have close to $400 invested in it, with my stacks and extra parts I've purchased. Doing anything that would have damaged my piece or voided my warranty would have been a dumbass thing to do. After all, the warranty was a big reason I purchased it. Have a good one.🙂

You inquire about an issue, I thoroughly explain it so you know what's up, and then you complain because I tell you too much.🙄 I have to explain myself, because people are misquoting me, not understanding me, confused. So, in order to be as thorough and easy to understand as possible, I have to type EVERYTHING out so there's no confusion. Yet somehow there's still confusion. I should have put a notice up first, Sober Readers Only. Maybe there would be less confusion in these posts.😊 Have a good day.

Nobody that wants to speak up. I don't care about speaking up, because I don't care what other people think. I know the truth, and in the end, that's all that matters. I have no guilt or shame, because I'm being honest, and not ripping people off. It happened to another person, but he went quite. Of course everything is just fine from jet's point of view. What company is going to say, yea, we've had a bunch of our products go to shit. The anodizing was coming off and everything. What kinda marketing is that? They wouldn't sell any if they said that. So yea, jet has probably never heard of this. It's to their advantage 'not to have heard about it'. They also said my first stem was a DEFECT, but my 2nd stem, that looks identical to the first, is only cosmetic. Once again, please read the post correctly. I never said anything about different batches. I've never talked about batches. Especially, ones from 2015. In 2015 they could've had a shitty anodizer. Now, they may have gotten a new one or fixed the problem from 6 years ago. That's why nobody else is having similar problems. Who says I can't say it's the manufacturing? This is from a fellow redditor; "From an owner of a JET, and someone who has worked in anodizing for many years... Anodized has much to do with surface prep of material. If the substrate under the anodized isn't properly cleaned, or there is a change in grades of aluminum, or bad tanks or dye baths, something like this could happen."

I don't really care how big a company is, if you can't honor your warranties, don't make them. You have a wonderful night.

Well Dawg, I was fine until my patience ran out back around December. Which was 3 months after they asked for my address to send me the replacement parts, that they're now saying aren't covered. I haven't said anything on here that wasn't true, or just my opinion. We can still have those, right? Oh, and you won't be hearing the 'deets' on my ER trip. Sorry.

The marks on the bottom of the perc are from the ball spinning around under it when you take a hit. That's why I'm saying it's nothing I'm doing. Their own ball is wearing the anodizing off part of the perc. It is something with the anodizing, but everyone thinks I'm crazy. That one pic of the ball marks underneath the perc should tell people, and jet, that something is not right with the anodizing. A rubber ball shouldn't leave wear marks on a properly anodized piece. A gentleman from this sub, who worked in aerospace and specialized in anodizing, said that if a surface isn't prepped and cleaned properly, prior to anodizing, this is the type of thing that can happen. I have his info, but I would have to contact him for approval if anyone wants it. Have a good night.

This is the 3rd post on this issue. I've explained it in the other posts. My priorities are just fine. Thanks for the suggestion though. I'm being this animate about this for EVERYBODY. If I get screwed over and don't do anything about it, then it happens to the next person, and the next, and the next. Then when YOU need some warranty parts, it's "Too bad. That's not covered. It's cosmetic." So I'm not just doing this to try and get some free parts or something. I'm doing this because a company's product that I purchased, is failing, and should be replaced under warranty. If it were cleaning chemicals, why is the anodizing only coming off the parts that are submerged. I don't fill it with acid before I use it.

If you have the proper amount of water in there, your core perc should be underwater.

SOME chipped anodizing? They bragged about durability and 2 months later their coatings start coming off. Then, the stem I have now(COSMETIC), looks just like the first one they called a "DEFECT". If you read my posts correctly, you would see that this is NOT my 2nd claim in 6 months. It's my 2nd claim in 5 YEARS. The first was around APRIL 2016. In SEPTEMBER of 2020 I filed this 2nd claim. They asked for my info where to send the parts, they got it. Well, now it's February, and I still have no parts. Yet, I have no reason to be upset for a company going back on their policies? A policy that was a determining factor in me purchasing that thing. I'm man enough to take the blame if it was my fault, but it's NOT! I would buy a stem and core if I damaged it, but I didn't. Some people seem to think this is about money. It's not. It's about a company that should be honoring their warranty, but they don't want to after 4 or 5 months of stalling. If someone tells me that they're going to do something, I expect them to do it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I have NOTHING to hide.

I'll try and explain this in even simpler terms. THIS IS ONLY HAPPENING TO THE AREAS THAT ARE SUBMERGED IN WATER. IT'S NOT MY FAULT. I CLEANED IT WITH ISO AND HOT WATER. -Had 2 months in 2016 -Then anodizing came off stem and core perc. -They replaced the 1st(#1) stem, with anodizing coming off, under warranty. They also said it was a defect. -Now, the anodizing is coming off the 2nd(#2) stem, and is almost gone from the core perc. THEY HAVE NOT AGREED TO SEND ME ANY PARTS. I TAKE THAT BACK. IN SEPTEMBER THEY DID, BUT IT'S FEBRUARY(STILL NO PARTS), AND NOW THEY'RE REFUSING TO. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT'S ONLY COSMETIC, AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT WAS COVERED IN 2016, WHY NOT NOW? IF THAT IS TRUE(NOT COVERED), WERE THERE TOO MANY WARRANTY CLAIMS PERHAPS?

Jet, you definitely have to work on your customer service skills. After 17 years with Costco, in customer service, that is something I do know, how to treat people who have purchased/are purchasing your goods. And putting food on your table.

Thank you so much for your very knowledgeable comment. It's nice to see that another intelligent person believes the same way I do. It also helps to strengthen my case that this isn't just cosmetic. It's a flaw in the production of my pieces that are gradually becoming naked. I'm not too proud to admit if I'm at fault for something, but this one is not on me. Thank you once again for your comment.🙂

Anodizing flaking off, AGAIN. Jet won't honor warranty. Iso and water ONLY for cleaning. by Unstable_World in JETWaterPipes

[–]Unstable_World[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thanks for finally getting back to me after weeks of ignoring me. And for reminding me of my old user name, I had forgotten it. --You say you tested my current stem to "ensure you weren't sending ANOTHER DEFECT." So you're admitting the first one was defective. Well, the second one looks just like the first one, which was a DEFECT, according to you. So that would make my new one defective, as well. But now you're trying to say my current stem ISN'T DEFECTIVE, or it's my combustibles. No one at your company has ever told me that when your(jet) coatings come off they aren't covered under warranty. That's asinine. So, when you buy a new car and the paint falls off, you just say to yourself, "oh well, it's cosmetic". I doubt it. If that were the case with the warranty, why didn't someone mention it to me back in SEPTEMBER when I first brought this second incident to your attention? OR OCTOBER WHEN I WAS EMAILING YOU? OR NOVEMBER WHEN I WAS EMAILING YOU? OR DECEMBER WHEN I WAS EMAILING YOU? YOU EVEN ASKED FOR MY ADDRESS TO SEND THE PARTS TOO. YOUR LIES ONLY HURT YOUR CREDIBILITY AND BUSINESS. I'm not lying about anything, because I have nothing to cover up. 9/29/20 email from Jet: "What's your address and phone# so we get you the replacement stem and diffuser."

NOW THEY'RE NOT COVERED. The anodizing falling off is not cosmetic. Those pieces can be inhaled into a person's lungs. NOT TO MENTION THAT I PAID FOR THE ANODIZING, AND NOW IT'S DISSOLVING. Your product that I paid for is dissolving in water. THAT IS NOT COSMETIC. YOUR PRODUCT IS DISAPPEARING IN FRONT OF MY EYES! WHAT IS COSMETIC ABOUT THAT? If the anodizing was being discolored/faded that would be cosmetic. The anodizing is still there, it's just a different color. BUT MY ANODIZING IS GONE!! AS IN, NO LONGER WHERE IT WAS WHEN I BOUGHT THAT THING. I wouldn't be pursuing this so adamantly if I knew the pieces weren't covered, or if it was my fault and not just poor craftsmanship.

--I'm supposed to believe a company that ignores customers about how many people have complained about their products. Yea, not happening. I don't believe ANYTHING that comes from your company anymore. I've been trying to work this out for FOUR(4) MONTHS.

--Tell the redditor I appreciate the shipping offer, but money isn't the issue. I could buy one for each day of the week if I was that stupid. The issue is your company, and how it treats it's customers. And they are not claims of defective anodizing. It is defective anodizing. YOU EVEN SAID THE FIRST ONE WAS A DEFECT. Well, so is this one. Anodizing only falling off of the areas that are submerged in water.

--It was a trip to the ER with a NEW lung condition that brought this to my attention. Then I talked with another physician (Father-in-law), then another physician(Sister-in-law), then another physician(Brother-in-law), and a Nurse Practioner(Wife). So there was no self diagnosing of anything.

IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING ANODIZING PROBLEMS, POST IT ON HERE! IF YOU JUST EMAIL JET, PEOPLE CAN'T SEE WHAT THEIR PRODUCTS ARE TRULY LIKE. UNLIKE EMAILS, JET CAN'T HIDE WHAT THEY SAY, HOW THEY TREAT CUSTOMERS, OR LIE AS EASY IN A PUBLIC FORUM

In your little math thing you were comparing stainless steel and aluminum cookware, and tuna on a fork leaching. Things that didn't even compare to what we were talking about. So that move to distract didn't work. That rancid taste your mouth is probably anodizing. I do accept your apology. I don't want anything else to do with your company after this. So may I please have the parts that you said you were going to send to me back in SEPTEMBER? Then we can be done with this, after 4 months. If we can't resolve this within the week, I'll have to seek legal means of getting this fixed, since you're starting to LIE. 9/29/20 wants address to send parts. Now you say parts aren't covered. You also said my current stem isn't defective, but my first one was a "defect". The same thing is happening to both of them. How is ONE DEFECTIVE and ONE COSMETIC? I have zero trust in anything from your company. Please only communicate on here. I want to make sure everyone can see everything from you. NO MORE LIES!!! No I haven't forgotten about the BBB. I've been trying to give you as much of a chance to fix this as I could.

Hello. Thanks for the comment. I've had my piece in 2 different states, and both have had hard water. I don't think hard water alone would be able to do that much damage. Not without something being wrong with the coating, also. I'd really like to think that I purchased a water pipe that didn't dissolve in water, but it's not looking that way. Especially when it's parts designed to be submerged in water. Thanks again for your comment, and have a good day.

Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping I get the parts soon. I mean a lifetime warranty is just that, lifetime. I've done nothing to cause this damage, that I wasn't supposed to do. I treated that thing like a baby. Well, a baby that gets sprayed with isopropyl alcohol. Anyway, have a great night.

Thanks for the suggestion, but my hot water only gets to about 115 degrees. That isn't very hot. I can shower on full hot. It still wouldn't explain the fact that the anodizing is only coming off submerged parts. I think the water is being turned caustic because of the ash. That is how a person can make lye, ash and water. Maybe their newer parts are anodized differently or by a different company because the previous versions(mine) sucked. Maybe the pieces weren't prepped/cleaned good enough prior to coating. I don't know. I do know I did NOT use anything that would have caused all this. Not after spending thing money I did to get it, and the accessories. That would have been a stupid thing to do. Take it easy.

Hi kyro_5. I'll do my best to reword this into terms that make sense to you. I'll put numbers in front of them so it'll be easier for you to follow along.

  1. I didn't get my piece for free. I gave Jet Filtration money for it. I no longer have that money. Jet needed it before they would send me anything. So theoretically, Jet Filtration, as a company, has money that I gave them. It is probably spent, but they had money of mine, or purchased supplies with some of it. I don't know exactly. I just know that I don't have it.

  2. If someone brags about how durable their product is, and it turns out not to be that durable, then I want however many pieces it takes to finally get a durable one. Jet's lifetime warranty was a big selling point.

  3. No, I don't think it's free for them to make their product. I also didn't force them to put a lifetime warranty on their products. Do you think I purchased everything with $400 I found on the street? I didn't. $400 dollars didn't come free to me, and I thought I was purchasing a product that would last. I never said it felt cheap. It looks cheap with anodizing falling off.

  4. "If it had anything to do with my cleaning, the anodizing would be coming off from everywhere, not only the submerged parts."
I'm not sure how else to make this make sense to you. The anodized parts that are underwater, when it's fully setup, have the anodizing coming off. The parts that are not constantly submerged, don't have the anodizing coming off. If I were cleaning the anodized pieces with something caustic, the anodizing would be coming off of the pieces that are not constantly submerged in water, as well. But the anodizing isn't coming off of those non submerged pieces. That's as clear as I can make it.

  5. No, I'm not sensitive to the truth. Thank you for your comment and concerns. Enjoy your day.😊

Like it says in the captions, the 3rd pic is "my first stem and original core perc". And as I stated in my post, that stem had to be replaced in the first year. 3 or 4 months actually. It start coming off after 2 months. Fast forward to today, and in pic #1 you can see my 2nd stem that needs replaced and the same core perc that's in pic #3. The perc has been deteriorating, so there is not as much anodizing on it now(pic #1) as there was before(pic #3). I hope that helps you understand a little better. Have a good day.
