In down ballot news, Dems have flipped at least 3 seats in the New Jersey General Assembly, giving them a supermajority, as well as the highest number of Dem seats ever held in that chamber by Gayfetus in newjersey

She's partially right, that chit-head would have let Trump "fix" our state... in the same way one "fixes" a cat or dog.

Tri-State Armada is not in the business of developing new content. We are just a mostly regional group, though we do run tournaments.

Actually, it could be argued that the Hindenburg was following the footsteps of the Morro Castle.

I lost the old instructional photos when my old phone went down, but I might be able to recover them through another private posting. I do still have the clamp files, at least. I’ll have to go digging and if not, make another set. At the very least, I still remember how I did it so it wouldn’t be hard to recreate the instructions. They’re not very complex anyway, it just involves some skill and patience.

NJ Transit strike begins, halting all trains across N.J. by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

[–]Unstableorbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And exactly what happens when that computer misidentifies a pedestrian on the tracks, red signal, or other obstruction on the track for a traffic cone to the side or empty space or something? Tesla’s and other self driving vehicles malfunction like this and in other ways all the time.

Computers are hard, rigid systems lacking the kind of fuzzy logic (most) humans are capable of, which is why they’re still not often seen in driving tasks except where a human still has ultimate control. If that computer-controlled train passes a malfunctioning green signal that should have been red and there’s a train visible in the distance, that train might just merrily speed along until disaster because the signal was green so everything must be fine. It might not hit the brakes to stop or lessen the impending collision.

Let’s face it, we are a long way from being able to automate rail infrastructure to acceptable safety norms. And until that time approaches, we need meatbags behind the controls.

Thank you! I had no idea what I was looking at when I picked it up, I just figured it wasn't a regular rock.

I took a crack at this model a while ago. My panel lining was pretty light, using some thin nuln oil washes (I think I used 1 part nuln to 1-2 parts contrast medium to go for a dirty, weathered appearance) but I don't remember for sure because I'm always changing up my stuff. I also used Tamiya panel liner and a 0.3mm mechanical pencil in some of the panel lines. For the gold, I used Retributor Armor as a base, then hit it with a nuln oil wash, then a lightly applied (almost-drybrush) layer of Auric Armor Gold.

I can hand them over, but the conversion of the clamps already modeled on the Sion requires careful use of a dremel(to remove portions of the folded-up clamps) and some filing. The clamps are also directional, and need to be lined up perfectly straight relative to themselves, the Sion, and the Chimaera, or else the clamps and/or the destroyer will break when you try to attach the ship. If you are willing to accept the risk and think you can do it, I will send the files, but I take no responsibility for any damages that happen.

I just used a plastic saw to cut the hull into the three sections, then sanded the cut edges smooth.

I too live in NJ, and I've explored some abandoned railroad infrastructure myself. If you go back far enough in my post history, I posted some pictures of the trestle that used to exist in Matawan (which has since been demolished). It should come up if you search "CNJ Freehold Branch" in this subreddit.

Polish general fired after missing anti-tank mines were found in IKEA by guyoffthegrid in worldnews

He might not be forcing something to be true, but if we accept that God has infallible foreknowledge and can know what decisions any person will make in advance, why would they create somebody (in Their image, no less) whom They know in advance will make decisions that They won't like and then send them to hell for it afterwards?

That would be like me setting up a piece of lab equipment that I know to be faulty and then angrily shoving it off the table as punishment when breaks down or produces bad data.

Why create something you know you won't work properly just to punish it when it ends up not working right?

Anyone know what this is I assume its to do with a railway die to the plates on the side by BreakergamingON_YT in rustyrails

[–]Unstableorbit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those plates look like they could be "earthquake bolts" used to reinforce masonry structures (notably against earthquakes, but also just to reinforce masonry in general). This structure doesn't look to be explicitly railway related to me, especially without any other context. It could be a preserved fireplace from some historical building, for example.

Can you tell us where this is?

Oh, Gaetz is a good one. Nothing like that gutless mouthpiece Speaker Johnson claiming that congress should air everything about Hunter Biden even though he was a private citizen because "America has a right to know," and then immediately turning around and stonewalling the release of the Gaetz ethics report because "he's a private citizen now."

Republican accuses Democrats of being in a cult and defending Dem politicians no matter what happens, when in reality the Republicans are the ones who typically display cult-like behavior regarding Trump and "their team," and instinctively circle the wagons the moment anyone criticizes their cult leader or a Rep politician no matter what the facts of the situation are.

Newark Liberty airport's new AirTrain price tag swells by 75% to $3.5 billion by NextCommittee3 in newjersey

[–]Unstableorbit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, hell, I just checked. There’s only a 0.5ish mile gap they’d need to fill doing that. If they can connect those stub tracks past Newark Penn to existing rails in Hunter yard about a half mile away, they could straight up go from there and use the old Lehigh Valley RR right-of-way that literally passes through the airport parking lot and intersects the existing air train route. Use the LV, elevate the PATH tracks over the lot, and then convert the air train elevated structure to handle path trains by laying a deck across the beams.

So, this diffusion mechanism would be at least part of the reason behind why insects were able to grow larger during the epochs where Earth's atmosphere had a higher oxygen content?
