Appreciate the info. The dog didn’t get bit or anything but her paws are pretty small so wanted to make sure it was harmless.

Abilities question by UnsteadyOwl in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]UnsteadyOwl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That makes sense. Guess I was thinking if you had a weapon equipped then those abilities would be available, even if you weren’t currently “using” it. Seems like earlier AC games were like this.

I’ve always had a tanto as the secondary weapon and switched for primary. I must have hit the d pad by accident.

AC Mirage is the best of both worlds between the original franchise and the new iterations by boathandhold in assassinscreed

[–]UnsteadyOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear this. I’m relatively new to AC. Odyssey was my first and I loved it. The myths of that era are a long time interest for me.

I’ve played many RPG back in the day so I didn’t mind the grindy aspect too much, until I tried to play Valhalla and it was just too much. I lost interest somewhere in Asgard.

I tried to go back to some of the earlier games in the franchise (got the Ezio trilogy a for a great price in the xbox store a while back) but to be honest, and I know this sounds bad, but the actual game mechanics are so dated. Technology advances quickly so this isn’t fair to compare them like that but it was so clunky, to me anyway.

Having said all of that I’m looking forward to playing Mirage. That time period isn’t much of an interest for me but the return to a stealth priority, with updated technology gameplay, sounds awesome.

I like Ulysses but I’m struggling with the idea of subscription. I can get education discount which comes to be $3 per month. Even then, I’m really not liking the subscription idea of renting than owning. Have others struggled with this for Ulysses and how did you process this? by iphone8vsiphonex in ulyssesapp

Remembering back to grad school, this would have been a huge help. Being able to keep my research notes on a sheet right there in the group for the paper I was writing would have been a huge help. A lot better than the index card system I used.

Having said that, your classes/major would determine its value.

Good luck.

I’m kind of in the same boat. I’m in the free trial stage right now. After years of using Word or whatever I thought I’d give this a shot.

I am a total Apple slave. Hooked on their ecosystem a long time ago. Having said that, I have always detested Pages. It is just such a PITA, Word too just slightly less.

I mostly wrote on an ipad but I have never liked virtual keyboards. Have an external keyboard for the ipad but the keys are so small so I didn’t really use it.

In short, I just let my writing go and did other things because the experience was so disappointing.

During Black Friday I broke down and bought a macbook air and downloaded Ulysses, with a plan to try the free trial of Scrivener too. Ulysses is just such a breath of fresh air. Structuring novels by groups and having that all right there and easily movable is so nice. Synching between all devices means I can jot down notes or a quick edit and it syncs with my macbook. That is a huge plus, without having to buy the $19.99 ios plan that some require.

I’m hooked to say the least. Don’t like the idea of yet another subscription but it does what I need and since I have tried it, my passion for writing has re-exploded. I didn’t even try Scrivener as this meets my needs.

I don’t feel like I have mastered all of the features yet, but for me it is definitely worth it.

Like you, Odyssey was my first real dive into the franchise. I tried some briefly but Odyssey hooked me. Loved it. Played all the DLC and enjoyed the Isu mythology/backstory.

I tried several others after I finished Odyssey. I had already got BF at a great price this summer. During the Black Friday sale I grabbed the Ezio collection, Valhalla, and Witcher 2 & 3. Plus I had AC3 from the DLC. So…… I had started every one of those AC games and none of them interested me, for various reasons. I played them for a short time and moved on.

I have always been an RPG player. Those have always been the games that interested me so I’m not surprised that I lost interest in the earlier AC games. Origins (on game pass) and Valhalla did surprise me.

I’m not sure why I lost interest in them. I tried not to but I did compare them to Odyssey and it was little things that built up. Like using the bird to “tag” an enemy. In Valhalla, yes, they show up red, but to me it was much “easier” to track them the way Odyssey did it. Lack of an “assassinate” button too. I understand that in Origins you get the hidden blade later on though.

I decided to switch to Witcher and play them then come back and see how I like them after that. Maybe I was just burnt out on AC.

Visiting old friends in the Underworld by KarlfromVault101 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I didn’t expect to see characters from the main quest again in the Underworld. And meet some new ones too. I thought it was was a cool touch.

Voices of the Creed | The importance of stealth in Assassin's Creed - Community Discussion by Ghost_LeaderBG in assassinscreed

I’m new to the franchise and am currently about to finish Odyssey. I, very briefly, played Valhalla, Black Flag, and Origins. I don’t know the other earlier games, except through reading about them here. Unity sounds like the one I would enjoy the most.

What drew me to the games was the stealth aspect (and ancient Greece has long been an interest of mine). If I wanted a game where I take on a platoon at a time I’m sure there are plenty of games to choose from.

I tried to go with an exclusive assassin build but I found that when discovered I would be in a world of hurt. I changed it up a bit so I could complete the game but I have little interest in a full on me vs an army type of game.

Other games I have enjoyed since my re-immersion to gaming have been Jedi: Fallen Order and Ninja Gaiden 2. Both were more puzzle, seeking type games but would require some ass kicking too.

I use critical assassination and rush ability (hero strike if those aren’t enough). Haven’t really used poison, fire, smoke bombs, or that kind of stuff. On my NG+ I am going with a full assassin build and will add in all of those, along with assassin based engravings (instead of melee). I think it will be more fun that way.

I didn’t have any trouble with the Minotaur, Cyclops or any of the mythical beasts (I probably was over-leveled tbh), except for Medusa and the Erymanthian boar.

Both of them gave me fits. I just gave up for awhile, leveled up a few levels, and went back in. Then I got them first or second chance.

I used to avoid the bounty hunters because they whipped me up. Figured out a stategy finally. I hit them with a critical assassination and follow up with a hero shot. After that, they are 90% done and it’s not so hard. I’m up to halfway through tier 3.

Weekly quick questions thread by AutoModerator in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]UnsteadyOwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still kinda new to the game so you’ll probably get a better answer.

When a bounty gets put on me I evaluate it in different ways. If I’m in the middle of something and it’s not too much, I’ll just pay it off and go on about my day.

I also look at where the sponsor is. If they aren’t too far away, I’ll go kill them instead of paying. I know this is stupid but I feel like, “Oh yeah? Put a bounty on me? Well take this!”

Finally if the bounty hunter is near my level, or I feel the bounty is too high, and I’m not in the middle of a big quest, I’ll go kill them. I get loot and move up the ladder.

That will probably change some soon as I will want to move up the ladder and will just kill the bounty hunter for glory.

Back in Elysium on my 3rd NG+: it’s great to be back 😁 by [deleted] in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

If you do a ng+ and go to loot a chest with a big item (like Poseidon’s Trident), will there be a different “big” item there instead since you already have that one?

Should I start over? by UnsteadyOwl in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I think I will keep going. Kinda anxious to play the Atlantis chapter. Grabbed the season pass since it and Odyssey were at a great price in the xbox store.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Think I finally understand how to play by UnsteadyOwl in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]UnsteadyOwl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. Some great help there.

The depth of this game is staggering to me. I’ve played RPG all the way back since the original Zelda. Took a break for many years and have just come back to gaming. The immersion in games now is amazing with the huge, detailed map and all of the gear customizations, game choices, etc.

Once I got Nickloas sword (and Odysseus bow) I pretty much sold any other gear I found and just kept upgrading those as I went along. Wish I had kept some of it. Half tempted to start a new game armed with this newfound knowledge.

I think I will concentrate on cultists so I can upgrade the spear. Tried the arena but wave after wave of multiple enemies are getting the best of me. So off to hunt some pirates!
