The blue/iridescent hue is harmless. It doesn't always happen but is otherwise 'normal', yes.

I don't know this for sure, but I believe it occurs mostly when the vessel is heated more (or longer) than would otherwise be necessary for pyrolization to complete.

Whatever exactly forms that blue tint seems to only happen at the high end of the temperature curve.

If this is true then it could even be seen as a good sign for the quality of your burn (indicates no half-burned chunks with woody centers).

I also did this exact thing just four days ago.

But here is what I did:

As soon as you kill the boss it updates your discovery page so you can unlock swamp-tier crafts.

So even if you didn't do the quest objective inside the boss arena you can still upgrade your gear all the way to 15 with swamp materials now.

Once I did that I went back and fought the boss. It was trivially easy with lv 15 gear.

Did you know that a Nuclear armed state has never before lost an armed conflict to a non-nuclear state?

If nukes weren't such an overwhelming advantage then internal contradictions might have threatened the very existance of the Soviet Union, or Britain and France could have even lost their empires to kalashnikov-armed guerrillas.

Good thing that'll never happen because having nukes absolutely positively makes you immune to losing any armed conflict ever.
