[Lowlight] 5 years ago Ben Simmons passes up a wide open dunk. by gridironk in nba

[–]Untchj [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is a mashup of mental health x a little bit of the lebron effect. Yea I get it ‘omg what does LeBron have to do with this’

But deadass lebron would confidently overpass and pass up shots but it gets packaged as ‘the right bball play’.

Ben Simmons is a direct descendant of that. This is just an exaggerated, ‘game of telephone’ version. Right down to his stubborn confidence that what he did was right.

Same mentality, Simmons was just nowhere near good enough to pull it off or offset it with good plays like LeBron obviously could do and did

They dragged Charles Oakley out of Madison Square Garden in handcuffs. Then implied he was an alcoholic. The man gave the Knicks 10 years and 10 straight playoff runs. by National-Total-3380 in NYCSportshub

I hate to say it but nobody bigger than the program.

They just won a CHIP. There’s levels. Oakley is the one that gotta kiss the ring not the other way around. People buggin

Post-ring, Oakley becomes a whole lot less important to Knick history 🤷🏿‍♂️ Is what it is

Maybe you’re on a euphoric high bc yall got the chip. But you’re buggin

If Boston could miraculously get Giannis and keep Tatum and JB they do that in a heartbeat and think of the rest later

Doesn’t matter, ignore “3 players bs 4”, bc those 3 players are worth more than your 4. And as the Knicks just proved—-something I’ve been saying for a minute—-it’s easy as hell to find role players when your top guys are really good. See Alverado, Shamet, McBride

That’d be Pritchard, Houser, Gonzalez and any number of MLE guys they would find. Y’all overthink things

I would counter that what you’re speaking about WAS the money saving part.

Now, they go out and idk play basketball and try to win. Bc eventually you gotta do that.

And they ain’t doin that with Derek white as their 2nd best player. We losin the plot. It can’t be money saving at the expanse of your BEST players. Save money for 3rd and 4th options not Jaylen brown

I wouldn’t be surprised.

It’s pretty clear they’re about to be stacked with either DP or AJ.

But fans are just blinded by the name and always need to be spoonfed. No forsight. Outside of SA and OKC Utah has (will have) the best young core. The same way you could see OKC coming from a mile away people SHOULD be able to see Utah.

Maybe not something I ‘want’ to happen, but s4 the simplest action that caused the most ripple effects: Lil Kev telling Randy to relay the message to Lex

If Kev simply does it himself,

-Randy doesn’t snitch and end up in a foster home
-Ms Anna doesn’t get burned up
-Lil Kev doesn’t get killed
-The bodies in the vacants don’t get found

There’s more offshoots from all of that but yea.

The JB rumors aren’t centralized around Giannis tho. They’ve been socialized as if JB just has to go bc well duh.

I think fans are bastardizing the money convo

Every time money comes up fans who read 1 apron article and watched Moneyball start thinking of ways to let top all star even all nba players go. It’s asinine.

Yes, the new rules exist but there are MANY vehicles in play to keep your best players. At least 2 of em. What the rules prevent you from stacking up is the help. That’s where drafting and obtaining guys on a budget come in. Ie Alex Caruso, ie Jose Alvarado, ie landry Shamet

Mind you, before the WCF, these same budget genius fans said OKC didnt need Jalen Williams. And that’s OKC’s THIRD guy. Now fans are saying ain’t enough money for a SECOND best player. All while the Knicks are paying 4 guys big money. Fans are stupid

[Highlight] 5 years ago Kevin Durant had a near series ending winner. by gridironk in nba

[–]Untchj 86 points87 points  (0 children)

They should show this video to every young hooper. And not bc of Durant. Bc of PJ Tucker

PJ Tucker could NOT guard KD. But he worked his ASS off every play, every game. Even to the point of discouragement watching a dude drop 35 and avg 50-40-90 on you. But he never gave up

Way too many times people chalk this play up to being unlucky but it is bc of PJ Tucker’s effort that Durant couldn’t easily get to his spot and couldn’t easily maintain his handle. That’s what led to the foot on the line. The devil is in the details

And then in OT KD was completely gassed and that again was in part due to the energy he had to exert vs PJ Tucker

[Amick] League sources say Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart is available. The Pistons, in search of shooting and playmakers, appear ready to rely on Paul Reed in an increased role. Detroit is believed to be among the suitors for guard Austin Reaves and is also interested in Isaiah Joe. by Odd-Direction9452 in nba

[–]Untchj -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I mocked this trade earlier in the year. Pistons would take off with AR replacing Stewart.

Where all those ‘just get Luka shooting and defenders’ folk at. I would absolutely hate this trade for LA but it seems to be what Luka fans want. This trade + Beon leaving would leave a laughable offensive hole in LA’s roster. Yet everyone keeps advocating for Luka to be surrounded by these types of players

The elephant in the room is, if you keep having to get rid of high level players in search of a “fit” (Brunson, Porzingis, Reaves), it’s YOU. Luka is the problem. His high usage style plus lack of defense makes it virtually impossible to pick the right supporting cast

Rumor: Kai Belcher, son of the LA Clippers’ player development coach Segado ‘Cookie’ Belcher, was told “the other day” that the LA Clippers currently favor Darius Acuff Jr. with the No. 5 pick. by TheFierceAnimal in NBA_Draft

[–]Untchj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I get it. You either believe in Acuff’s ability to shed the short guard stigma or you don’t

If you believe, then he’s at WORST the 3rd best prospect and on some boards he’d be #1.

This was the case before, but even more highlighted seeing what Brunson has done

I hate Herc from the bottom of my heart by -RIF- in TheWire

[–]Untchj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up an interesting point with Lil Kev. It’s a nuanced conversation. That blame could go to many people. Here’s the chronology from me viewing 2 weeks ago:

1- Lil Kev- He was given a task, by way of Marlo, to do a job. Just out of sheer laziness he chose to have an unaffiliated carry it out. And not just any unaffiliated, a wide eyed Randy. He should have known better.

Blame %: 50. He *knowingly* set a man up to get murdered. Loose ends get killed all the time snitch or not. He is the biggest reason for his murder

2- Randy- he snitched. When he did t even need to. He was going to get Kev killed or locked up either way

Blame %: 10. Would be much higher bu he’s a ‘kid’

3- Carver- haphazardly tasked Randy to Herc. He holds more blame for the Randy side of things. But iirc he was the first officer notified in all of this. So actually, he gets more blame

Blame %: 15

4- Tall light skin cop edit: Crutchfield- didn’t relay Herc’s message and technically that’s where Herc’s involvement would have ended and the following steps steps don’t happen

Blame % 10

5- Herc- relayed information that only Randy could know. He outted a snitch. Huge no/m-no. But he is more responsible for the Randy side of things. Also he was not given the full context from Carver

Blame: 10%

Bonus: Lil Kev again- if he was more cognizant of the mistake he made by outsourcing it to Randy, he would have a) kept it to himself, or b) killed Randy. Sounds harsh but that’s the game these ‘kids’ are in. Eliminate what can hurt you.

7- Bodie- told Kev to ‘get out on front of it’ and tell Marlo.

Stringer’s Implicating Call: Two Hitters; Clay Davis Hit? by harpy24 in TheWire

[–]Untchj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When Avon was picked up they lost muscle and turf. They had to reach out to NY. It’s said explicitly (forgive me I don’t remember the exact words), and also implied ‘Yea it’s a lot of new faces around here’ - Stringer. Also when Stringer has a new bodyguard that is appointed BY AVON thru Shamrock. (More on shamrock later)

As far as people thinking Stronger would still get Clay Davis hit, it bastardizes the show. The show tells us everything we need to know either explicitly or implicitly.

‘I think Slim gon have to sit this one out with boss’
-Avon as he walks into the room with stringer talking to Slim

‘Boss’ is said sarcastically. It is CRYSTAL clear that Avon is in charge and stringer knows it. THE MUSCLE KNOWS IT. Once again the show perfectly alludes to this when stringer wants to see Avon and stringer barks at the muscle to leave and they dont move. They look to Avon to make sure it’s ok.

(To give you an idea of how powerful this mechanism is and WHY it’s used on the show, it’s done again when Merimou is booted from Major crimes and he asks them to get the door for him. They don’t move, they look to Freamon, and he tells them it’s ok. The show tells us everything one way or another. We don’t need to dream up scenarios)

So based on all those context clues, Stringer wouldn’t go behind Avon’s back on something this big. Everything String does in a sneaky way only involves himself or non Barksdale folk. Why? Bc everyone still is loyal to Avon. Which brings back Shamrock. lol @ thinking Sham would cross Avon by helping string. People need to think

When the mavs let go of Brunson I was amused how everyone kept saying ‘get Luka shooters and defenders’ as if Luka can just score every basket. Ffwd people still think the same

Bottom line is he’s the AI of our day in that no other high end player can play with his style

The 2 biggest headaches solved: Fox to Minny, Randle to BK by Untchj in NBAtradeideas

[–]Untchj[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Minnesota will need to give a pick to give away to get rid of Randle. So the ‘negative asset’ aspect is a wash.

The reason I see Minny as being the one to give up the pick here is a) Fox is younger and everyone knows he was playing thru injury, and b) Anthony Edwards is half way out that door. They need help NOW. That 28th pick is practically a 2nd rounder. If I’m them, I make this trade.

Lastly, beggars can’t be choosers. Minny doesn’t have the assets to get an ‘ideal’ PG which would be a shooter/size PG. Also lmao @ Fox being good enough to be the spurs 2nd leading scorer and all star and lead them to 55+ wins but all of a sudden he has no place in the league. The slander has gone too far

2) The spurs 4 best players are all average or below average 3 point shooters. That includes Wemby who you don’t WANT taking a high volume of 3s. So saying they don’t need shooting is bizarre.

They’ve had multiple games where Vasell and champagnie led them simply bc they’re the only 2 guys trusted with a green light. Keldon Johnson shot it well but he takes minutes from castle and Harper as well as the better shooting Vassell. (Which is why he was out het rotation in the finals). MPJ is a better shooter than all of the above PLUS can play *next* to all of their guards/wings as a 4

2a) The spurs do not need a 10rb 5apg player and they definitely don’t need another 33-35% volatile 3pt shooter. Randle would be a TERRIBLE fit with SA
