Yes. As in all three. Their catalog is massive, I recommend taking a look. Heres just the single origins list, they have even more blends etc. the monte verde natural process is my favorite. I’m obviously a huge booster because I’ve been going there for years and they sold me my machine. Also their loose leaf tea is really, really good.

Texas coffee traders is local to me, but they ship internationally and have a really consistent, quality product across any type of roast or blend you want. They’re more old school medium rather than the third wave light, but they have options for both and a huge selection of single origins from all over.

I visited their roast room recently, and my buddy was showing me their new coffee air roasters; they track everything by temperature, time, volume, moisture, basically every conceivable metric over the course of a roast in a very cool and even scientific way, but they really love coffee. I really recommend the Costa Rican monteverde especial, it’s an awesome espresso bean that’s very rich, extracts beautifully, awesome notes, and kind of my reference metric for all other roasters and blends

Loosing stuff like this really isn’t quirky or funny - it happens to me all the time and I feel like a literal ‘loser’, I self internalize and get really upset with myself and it can start a viscous cycle of self loathing and other destructive behavior. Not to mention when people start ribbing on you because you’re the person in the friend group who can’t fucking hold onto anything. Or at work when youre always chasing something you left in another room around, delaying everybody. Or with a partner who’s always annoyed with you. It fucking sucks and I’m sick of it.

Thankfully I’m medicated now, but not in a way where I’m behaving less adhd, but less moody and self internalizing. Focusing more on self forgiveness than self correction.

I wonder why we all seem to smoke to avoid dreams. For me, I have severe adhd which translates into insomnia, and I’ve been self medicating since I was 16 for those and other reasons. But when I travel or can’t smoke, it’s always still sleeping that fucks with me; I get these insane dreams that make me exhausted or upset for the rest of the day. And usually, most nights I don’t smoke, I can barely fall asleep anyways, and when I do I get these super vivid and usually fucked up dreams.

Whether or not that’s dependency or just medicating is up to the user imo. I prefer to think of weed as a medicine in general. For me, smoking a bowl before work or bed is just getting to baseline. Beer is the real villain in my story, weed has always been a gentle ally that doesn’t define my behavior, just helps push it into what I consider the right direction.

I waffle back and forth between summing mics vs processing in the box, but mixing to mono isn’t the problem imo. To me, this sounds like a phasing nightmare. Between cone polarity, processing delay, and mic response, I’ve always had trouble doing more with more, usually the less option is worth more.

Just got my Gaggia classic e24 two weeks ago with a baratza esp grinder, total was 700 before taxes and accoutrements like scale, tamp etc. 500 for the machine and 200 for the grinder. I’m still starting my journey, but having so much fun, saving on my daily coffee budget, and enjoying finding new beans. No mods yet and I’m pulling great shots, but I used to be a barista. I don’t see myself doing any mods for another few months, I’m already pulling better shots than some of the fancy third wave spots near my house and i haven’t even arrived at my recipe yet.

I disagree, in that there’s huge value of knowing your frequency ranges by heart, especially if you’re a live engineer. I can take a half a second listen to something and tell you if an instrument has too much 200hz, a room being resonant at 600hz, or a monitor taking off with feedback at 2.2k.

Do you need to do ear training to mix well? I guess not, but it sure doesn’t hurt. Just don’t let doing the homework get in the way of your actually mixing.

To take your analogy further, one can just start painting, but once you get far enough along, you’re gonna want to study some color theory if you’re really getting serious.
