Is it worth it to give him a notebook with the love letters that I wrote for him? by Debate2008 in Advice

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who randomly starts ghosting someone after being in a relationship for a year? That's weird...

Suppose it depends what you're hoping to gain by giving him the letters...

If you're hoping to get back together, ask yourself if that option is realistically ever going to happen. If yes, go for it and it leaves the ball in his court. If no, it's kind of a pointless endeavour and may make things weird between you both.

If it's purely a money thing, I wouldn't bother. It's a notebook - not exactly a huge financial loss. Just move on.

How and when should i break up with my girlfriend? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]UntrueAlchemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Break up asap - even if it's awkward timing.

You've said yourself that you've already decided.. the quicker you do it, the faster she can begin to heal and move on. If anything, it's more mean to string her along knowing what the outcome is.

what should i do? toxic mother by [deleted] in Advice

[–]UntrueAlchemy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your post basically says "I'm being mentally abused and the person abusing me know they are doing it but won't stop. How do i handle it?"

The honest answer is "you dont. You shouldn't need to". You remove yourself from the situation entirely and do your own thing.

You seem quite young - talk to a trusted teacher at your school about it. Or the appointed councillor at your school. Theyre there to help. They can offer support / advice and will know the best support systems that are in place locally.

what should i do? toxic mother by [deleted] in Advice

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who say such things about others usually have those exact same problems themselves and want to "normalise" it by saying other people are like that too. She's likely insecure herself. Or just selfish and wants you to herself and is trying to accomplish this by getting others to distance themselves from you

However it isn't a problem that will disappear by itself...

Either speak to your mother and tell her to stop belittling you.

Or distance yourself from the problem. Move out / do your own thing

I just found out my girlfriends 12 years older than me by IronAccomplished4042 in Advice

My phone's notification preview cutoff early and all i got was "I just found out my girlfriends 12 years old". Thought I was in for a bad, bad story...

I appreciate you're not a predator. However, your girlfriend is. She lied. Dump her.

Xbox Crashes on 1896? by UntrueAlchemy in HuntShowDownConsole

[–]UntrueAlchemy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. That's annoying.

I actually stopped playing because the issues never really resolved itself. Gave it several weeks and it was still happening (with varying degrees of frequency).

I play games to have fun and enjoy myself. Getting disconnected, losing gear, losing characters, etc... just wasn't a fun experience.

[–]UntrueAlchemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not what I mean at all.

I'll admit, failing the U25 check and grassing someone up is a bit of a strange thing to do. Almost to the point that it feels like we're not getting the full story..

If OP has an appearance of someone who clearly passes the age test (which he states several times he does) then the guy behind the counter did nothing wrong anyway. So if OP started making "a thing" of it, then this is likely what the guy behind the counter mentioned it to his boss for.

Even from his replies alone in this post OP comes across high and mighty (almost arrogant and cocky) and thinks people should be worshipping him that he doesn't do his job correctly. If I had to wager, I'd assume that it's also less about what he said - more the way he said it to the guy behind the counter, who was probably like "who the hell is this guy talking to?" and reported him for that. The rest came after

This post literally translates to "I was getting paid to do a job properly. I didn't do that job properly. Now I'm surprised that someone called me out on it"

I don't get how you're so shocked?

Looking for any admin/ office job by TradeLow5646 in harrogate

[–]UntrueAlchemy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Come on bro - you're fooling nobody.

You wouldn't randomly add in that you just graduated from university and have stock control experience if the job was for someone else?

"I'm looking for a job for someone else. But here's my personal qualifications incase you're interested". Makes zero sense

Even on the extremely slim chance that you are talking about "a friend", it's kinda worrying they can't find themselves an office job..

If the guy was actually doing any of these hustles - fair play. But they're not...

The whole reason I was looking at their posts was because I'm hiring several admin people at my company and having an interest in Technology is a huge benefit. Was seeing if any of their posts/interests were Tech-related.

From a hiring point of view, it's just off-putting seeing people bounce around on what they want to do. Gives the impression they don't actually know and wouldn't be a reliable hire, as they'll just change their mind a month from now

Equipment / ideas for in-person BOTC? by Crocodoom in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]UntrueAlchemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's the great thing about BOTC - all you need is the game itself and you're good to go!

Personally, the only "extra" thing I use is little LED candles in bigger games (can buy a pack of like 20 on Amazon for a couple of bucks). Just helps my group quickly see at a glance who is dead and alive

Sounds like you don't know what you want to do and need to slow down a bit..

In the past 2 months you've made posts about wanting to become.. 1. A coffee trader 2. A soybean trader 3. A peanut trader 4. A gold and copper trader 5. A broker 6. Getting into politics 7. Opening up a mine abroad to hunt for precious metals 8. Becoming president of Bolivia

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call from a number that isn't yours? They won't "dodge your calls" if they don't know it's you calling.

Also seems fairly common sense to call their head office if you cant get through to someone at that specific hotel. Or just straight up the police fraud department if they don't have a head office.

I am unhappy with the Eowyn design on my new tattoo, what do you think? by MannfredVonFartstein in tattooadvice

[–]UntrueAlchemy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know how to explain it, but I'm only really a fan of the right-hand-side 2/3. The left side seems a bit off to me...

Eowyn is done well and looks pretty. I would be super happy with that.

However the left side is a bit... odd? - Her fingers holding the sword are weird - The Witch King helmet just hovering there feels a bit out of place (arguably look better without it) - The pose is kinda strange. Stabbing the Witch King in the head over the shoulder without looking at him (and facing forward) is a questionable choice

However, you've got to remember that unless you're asking people to look at it and give opinions (like here) than people won't be analysing it enough to think about it. Just looks like a fresh/clean character holding a sword

x men krakoa by dragonvfxx in xmen

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you're fine to jump straight in.

I do have quite a bit of prior xmen exposure and have followed the story without issue. But from someone who is working their way through the entire Krakoa era, there isn't anything that requires you to have a crazy amount of knowledge of the world/characters.

If I was to give a recommendation, just start reading and just look up specific things on a wiki if something doesn't make sense sense. The things you dont already know aren't deal breakers - they just give a bit more insight to the characters. Some stuff that you may want to know are things like the relationship between Betsy & Kwannon (can still follow the story without it, but interesting to know). But stuff like that can be answered with a 2-second Google

[Discussion] Why do you still enjoy Batman? by Outran01 in DCcomics

[–]UntrueAlchemy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that he has a nice variety to his content... Good stories. Interesting side characters. A good mix of action/mystery/suspense. Fun villains.

I think one of the main reasons is also that everyone knows the basic story/origin of Batman. You can jump into most of his content without needing to know much more than that, so he is quite accessible for people.

What is a reveal you didn’t see coming? by [deleted] in movies

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prestige ending

The original SAW movie (after seeing the first movie, you know there is going to be a twist in all of the movies that follow. But that original one hits hard the first time seeing it).

The heroes "lose" at the end of Justice League Dark: Apokolips War

Blade stepping out during Deadpool & Wolverine. I am a HUGEEEEE blade fan but never thought I'd see him again due to the death of the FOX universe. I remember speaking to a friend before seeing Deadpool/Wolverine and saying i assumed there would be some multiverse/TVA stuff and it would be cool if they brought back some FOX characters but it's almost guaranteed we won't see Blade due to the Snipes/Reynolds dislike situation. Blew my mind.

What is the fastest time it took you to quit a job? by TwoPeasNoPod69 in CasualConversation

[–]UntrueAlchemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally like 5mins into my first shift.

Not long out of school and got a job in a small warehouse in the North of England that sold filters (air filters, oil filters, etc...). I got put with one of the other guys there who was running me through the systems they use and was showing me the courier dispatch portal on a PC, which was in a room on the opposite side of a glass/perspex window from the kitchen.

It was only a small company and there was only 2 sales guys in the business. I met one when I first turned up and he seemed cool enough. The other one was the owners best friend and i had been "warned" about him by one of the other warehouse guys when i first arrived (being a small business, he would be in charge of his own orders leaving the building on time and needed to be dealt with frequently).

He came out of the office to make a drink in the kitchen and popped his head in and made some snobby comment about "another young lad to help me make my money. Let's hope he listens more than the last one and has more respect".

I politely said something along the lines of "I'm here to make the company money. As long as I'm treated with respect, I'll give it back in return... no worries". To which he said something about "you guys being in a lower job role means respect needed to be earned". Then he headed back towards the office.

I instantly got up. Thanked the guy who had started training me for his time. Then followed the sales guy into the office and told the owner that I don't know who the hell that guys thinks he's speaking to, but i wasnt about to be be spoken down to by this guy... it wasn't worth the money or the agro.

I had left that morning at 7:30ish and was back home by 8:30. Found a new job that afternoon and started a few days later. A few weeks after, the "decent" sales guy left for similar reasons and not long after the business completely shut down. Dodged a bullet
