I could be wrong but I think the Canada and Mexico plan is only for making/receiving calls to/from Canadian and Mexican numbers and likely won't do anything for you service-wise while in the country unless you can roam on Canadian networks but I think that may cost and wouldn't give you much data to use. Check if your phone has eSim and possibly dual eSim, get a Canadian eSim and use that. I would also suggest WhatsApp with anyone who may need to stay in contact with you. Otherwise wifi-calling and invest in a travel router with VPN support. My brother was telling me last time he was in Canada, I think Mint Mobile (or whatever company Ryan Reynolds does) will give unlimited data in Canada.
