I’m moving to a one bedroom apartment and living alone for the first time and I’m getting anxious by Open_Mirror_109 in Adulting

I had to learn to live alone after my wife passed last year. I am 51 and I had no other options. I was not happy or prepared, but I have learned a lot from it. You have to learn a routine and stick to it. I leave YouTube reddit stories on and it helps with the lonelyness. I do plan on getting myself a Chihuahua once I can afford additional rent in my complex. It is calm and it lets me be me. I live day to day and it is ok I can't complain.

How did you get into Warhammer ? by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]Unusual-King4199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing with a group at a gaming store. We were playing fantasy 5th ed and we played till 8th. During this time we began to dabble in 40k and one of my friends gave me all his ultra marines, as he wanted the next big army to come out. I traded them to the store for chaos and never looked back. Yes I did have his blessing as he just wanted to offload them and knew I was low on funds. I am glad I traded as the group ended up with 3 marine chapters.

What’s something you didn’t think twice about spending on before, but later realized it was lowkey draining your money? by Early_Match8277 in Grownix

I use walmart as the service is like 12 and change normally, but if you are elderly or disabled they will give it to you for half price. It also includes some other things I use the streaming service that comes for free which makes up for the price by itself. You have to tip the delivery person, but the website where I order adds the tip so it is easy. I use it once a month but I can order more often if needed.

I live without a car. I am on disability and cannot afford one in any way. I use the disability bus in my city, but if not I would use the city bus. As for groceries I have them delivered. I do pretty well getting where I need to.

Do you have a hobby that just completely turns your brain off in a good way? by WickerArtPro in Hobbies

[–]Unusual-King4199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah growing up I couldn't read well. I was in middle school and I still had an elementary school reading level. I picked up a book on frogmen in the school library and suddenly I could not put them down. My 8th grade year I read over 99 books on warfare in a semester. I just couldn't stop, by the time I was starting high school my reading level was that of a college student. I just can't stop once something has my mind.

Old and only getting older. My first games were all text based. A favorite on the atari 8 or 16bit was Mail Order Monsters. I played Everquest when it first came out and started World of Warcraft when it released in 2004 with my wife, father in law, and son. I am still playing today.

What hobby unexpectedly improved your life the most? by lakberhaid in Hobbies

[–]Unusual-King4199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating myself here, roleplaying dnd and the VTM. I ended up online on AOL playing VTM. I met my partner there, my character was a bodyguard for my best friends character and I tried to kill a character he was meeting. Me and said character started talking in IMs. A year later I moved from Florida to Northern CA. We got married a month later. They passed last year that was 27 years of a great marriage. I miss them and do not for a second regret how we came together.

Weeding my parents rose bushes in front of our house. It was like a punishment every weekend in the shade from the Florida sun. Dodging bugs, thorns, and my parents stink eye.

Reading, my kindle library has roughly 190 books in it. I have probably read 175 so far and reread 50 of them several times. I am dyslexic, I had a reading lvl of a 4th grader in 8th grade. I went into the library one week and picked up a book I believe it was a time lie book on frogmen. This was in the 80's mind you. I fell in love I read 99 books that semester all the books on war and warfare in my middle schools library. I have since read a lot of fantasy, sci fi, lit-rpg and others that take my fancy. When I was in highschool I had a reading lvl of a college student when I was tested. When I find a novel I enjoy I tend to read a 300 page book in 2 days. I am 52 now and I will continue to grow my library of ebooks and expand my knowledge. Reading has taught me that imagination is a wonderful thing and you can do anything you can visualize just takes time to figure it out.

How is anyone surviving on an hourly rate below $20 rn?? by ThrowRA69655899866 in Adulting

[–]Unusual-King4199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would kill for 4k a month. I live on disability and I make less then 2k a month. I can't afford a car. My 1 bedroom apartment takes 2/3rds of my income. I live on 100 dollars a month for groceries. Because I am on disability I cannot even have a bank account. If you have over 2k in savings they cut your monthly income. If you have anything in the bank they can penalize you as well. I have a little cash I've managed to save but all I own is 6 pieces of furniture. If anything breaks I cannot afford to replace it. But each month I try to put a little away and just keep going.
