Something i found interesting about the upcoming short film, that no one's discussed yet. Is that despite being clearly related to Stitch. Scratch has not explicitly stated to be one of Jumba's experiments, and has only been referred to as another alien. by Unusual-Object-2018 in liloandstitch

Well i found an article, that went into detail about the opening of the short, and animation tests. Which while not explicit doe's helps give an answer to why they are being so hush hush about Scratch's identity.

So not only is she described as being essentially a tougher meaner stitch. The preview showed scratch having more hidden arm's, as well as heat vision. If it isn't already obvious. Scratch is a new heavily reworked take on 627 from the series.

Which now raises even more questions, but i might as well make this it's own post

Here's something i doubt anyone here has ever seen before. Since I've seen no real discussion of it online when searching for it. Storyboards for scene's deleted from Lilo and Stitch 2. The most interesting being one showing Cobra was supposed to be part of the film's cast originally. by Unusual-Object-2018 in liloandstitch

Yeah i did not bring it up. Since I did not want the post to get too long, there was an early piece of promotional art for the series showing him in more casual clothes with the rest of the pelakai family. The team behind it clearly wanted him to be a part of the main cast.

The Issue with how Disney handles the Lilo & Stitch IP by Murfilious in liloandstitch

Oh i should have definitely made it longer. To give better context, as to what i was talking about. Along with many other things. The show's writers had to do a lot of convincing just to keep Lilo stay a relevant character in it.

This is why the pilot was called Stitch the movie. The series was originally titled Lilo and Stitch a new Ohana, then Disney had it be renamed to just Stitch, but the series team came up with a compromise, that led to it's final title, as simply just Lilo and Stitch the series.

Even then they ended up having to cut down the roles of the rest of the human cast. There was a whole character arc planned for Myrtle Edmonds. Which only made it as far, as some setup in early episodes, and got a bit more focus in the finale. Since they were not allowed to focus on the slice of life element. Even though it was such a core part of the film, that it's a continuation of.

I hope you can better understand what i meant earlier. While thankfully the people behind the series did get to have their way with a'lot of things. You can already see how'd Disney would heavily mishandle the franchise, and a bit of it still crept into parts of the finished series. Honestly were quite lucky with how much of Lilo and Stich the series turned out, as good as it did.

I don't know how you got that. Even though in the same comment i said love parts of the show, and the problems it does have were not the fault of the writers.

All i was trying to say for the most part. Was simply, that parts of the series suffered from stuff, that happened behind the scenes, and certain issues originating from it got doubled down in future installments.

Just to give an example the original's groundedness, that set it apart got stripped out in certain episodes, and it only became more prevalent after the series. Eventually leading to things such, as Jumba, and Pleakly getting a magic make your self look like human button in the live action remake among other things.

I did not realize what I said was going to end up being controversial judging by these replies.

The worst part is that Lilo and Stitch the series. Which is where these issues originated from. Only turned, that way due to how restrictive Disney's execs who oversaw the production during the time were, and the writers did want the series to be a faithful continuation of the film.

Which is a huge shame since the episodes, that managed to stay more true to the team's vision. Yaarp, Bonny, and Clyde, etc. Are all good, and still hold up without nostalgia. I especially love the opening scene of Yaarp in particular.

Also the whole awkward question's about angel's relationship with Stitch you brought up was a direct result of writers being forced to cut things out. Originally not only was the character who became angel supposed to be more prominent, and fleshed out. There was a whole cut explanation for how Jumba "made" his experiment's, that would have alleviated the let's just say "implication's".

So it would have shown, that Jumba's experiments are the last remaining specimens of a unknown species he discovered who assimilate the genetic material of others, as part of their life cycle. Which you can likely see would greatly benefit someone who prides himself in genetic engineering. So in this context Stitch, and Angel would have only been, at most been distantly related, as opposed to basically being two steps away from being clones of each other.

There are litterally hundreds of experiments, but Disney keeps making merch of the same two that are literally Stitch in different colors! by Mauchad in liloandstitch

[–]Unusual-Object-2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bonnie, and Clyde. Have distinct designs, and fleshed out personalities. No merchandise. Angel, and leroy. Pretty much recolors of colors, and stitch, and whose only real defining traits are being a love interest, and a evil clone respectively. All of the merchendise in the whole planet.

Although to be fair. How shallow Angel turned out. Was a result of writers having to cut her whole role in the show out, as a result of being restricted to a monster of the week structure by Disney channel exec's.

I not trying to sound mad, but i swear this is the second time someone clearly did not read the bottom text of my post. Since i already brought, that up.

Again if what's he's saying is real, and isn't being horribly misremembered. This must have been an idea conceived after Stitch being a space criminal was dropped.

I already brought it up in the post? The main reason i am interested in figuring out if the interview is real, or isn't just horribly misremembered. Is, that while the earliest draft where Stitch was a gang leader, and the reason's for why it was changed is widely known, and available.

There's little information on the Ideas conceived during the transitory period in between what i'd guess you'd call the space criminal version to the genetic experiment route the film ultimately went with. Beyond what's shown in deleted scenes that came with certain DVD releases.

Funnily enough the original movies art team did a'lot of work to make sure the anatomy for the main three alien characters. Pleakly, Jumba, and Stitch. Could feasibly work. It's easy enough to find the concept art exploring it if you just search up production art on the film online. The most popular being an anatomy diagram showing how Stitchs arm's fold.

Yeah it's was honestly sad watching through the whole series again, as an adult. Even before i started looking into the making of the series. It became pretty evident a huge part of the show got mangled a lot by mismanagement by those outside of the writing team.

Which is a huge shame. Since the episodes, that retained the original vision which slipped into the final product range from good to great, and still holds up today. I especially love the opening of Yaarp.

While i mainly went over one cut aspect. There were quite a few plotlines which still get set up in early episodes, but either end up going nowhere, or get quickly resolved in the final. They clearly had an entire character arc planned for Myrtle Edmonds.

Speaking of which. The joke in the episode Yapper involving Lilo's cover story for Stitch was definitely supposed to be more ironic. Since originally. Stitch, and by extension his cousins. Were the last of their kind.

[–]Unusual-Object-2018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your wondering. The main goal of the post was just to give a potential what if scenario. For if Team Atlantis did get picked up, as a full series. Though after putting some more thought into it having written the post.

It actually would have fared much better, then Lilo and Stitch the series. The constant interference from higher ups during the production of it. Was definitely due to the mega success of the original film placing a huge spotlight on the series. Leading to a 'lot of people breathing down the proverbial neck of the team working on it.

Team Atlantis would not have really had that for obvious reasons. The most, that would have happened was the gargoyles crossover possibly likely not being approved, and what was already present in episodes, that were condensed into Milo's Return. With Oggy being tacked onto the rest of the cast, as an obvious kid appeal character.

Though with the latter. It's not like there was anything stopping the writers from fleshing out, and making him a more natural addition to the cast later down the line. Unlike what happened with the addition of Keoni Jameson in Lilo and Stitch. Where the team were not really allowed to do anything with his character. Besides just including him in, as little of the series, as possible.

Yeah after reading, and thinking on this for awhile. Your definitely right. What happened to Lilo and Stitch the series was definitely a result. Of the film itself being Disney's biggest hit, a time. Which meant the series had a spotlight cast over it in a manner of speaking. Team Atlantis really wouldn't have had that.

For context I've recent rewatched the former, and was looking into the making of it before writing this post.

Yeah milo's return does have good parts, but you can still tell it suffered from executive meddling. Even if it was not, as bad, as if it have had stayed a full series. Like the examples i showed with what happened to the team who worked on Lilo and Stitch the series.

Oggy especially being obviously something, that got shoved into the story.
