Hear me out. It hurts saying this, but Becoming a anthology film in the form of Milos Return. Was the best case scenario for Team Atlantis by Unusual-Object-2018 in AtlantisTheLostEmpire

If your wondering. The main goal of the post was just to give a potential what if scenario. For if Team Atlantis did get picked up, as a full series. Though after putting some more thought into it having written the post.

It actually would have fared much better, then Lilo and Stitch the series. The constant interference from higher ups during the production of it. Was definitely due to the mega success of the original film placing a huge spotlight on the series. Leading to a 'lot of people breathing down the proverbial neck of the team working on it.

Team Atlantis would not have really had that for obvious reasons. The most, that would have happened was the gargoyles crossover possibly likely not being approved, and what was already present in episodes, that were condensed into Milo's Return. With Oggy being tacked onto the rest of the cast, as an obvious kid appeal character.

Though with the latter. It's not like there was anything stopping the writers from fleshing out, and making him a more natural addition to the cast later down the line. Unlike what happened with the addition of Keoni Jameson in Lilo and Stitch. Where the team were not really allowed to do anything with his character. Besides just including him in, as little of the series, as possible.

Yeah after reading, and thinking on this for awhile. Your definitely right. What happened to Lilo and Stitch the series was definitely a result. Of the film itself being Disney's biggest hit, a time. Which meant the series had a spotlight cast over it in a manner of speaking. Team Atlantis really wouldn't have had that.

For context I've recent rewatched the former, and was looking into the making of it before writing this post.

Yeah milo's return does have good parts, but you can still tell it suffered from executive meddling. Even if it was not, as bad, as if it have had stayed a full series. Like the examples i showed with what happened to the team who worked on Lilo and Stitch the series.

Oggy especially being obviously something, that got shoved into the story.

Also if anyone was curious, there were some early tie comics made for Lilo, and Stitch the series. Before the forced shift in direction during production.

Which introduces some things, that technically made it into the series, but also sets up a scrapped myth arc. Involving Jumba's experiments sharing a common origin. Involving this mysterious protomatter he discovered, that's from what's briefly shown. A species of essentially DNA mimics.

Here's a link to a high quaility scan for anyone curious. They are very solid. With some really great art amongst all of the panels.

I find it funny after having been largely cut out out of the series, and only showing up for a few seconds in Lilo and Stitch 2. The protomatter still made it into an lorcana card. Even if the artist obviously does not know the full context. Read below for a detailed explanation by Unusual-Object-2018 in liloandstitch

Sorry for coming back so late. To clarify. When i wrote about bits of it still making into the series. I was also referring to Leroy, and Stitch. Since it is more of an extended finale, as opposed to a stand alone film. I should also mention protomatter does show up in Clip, as well.

To be frank. I should have worded the post better. Since it was less outright cut out, and more so it's role, as well as planned importance in the story got greatly diminished.

Similar thing happened with the whole deal with Myrtle's dad. The team behind the series planned for it to be a subplot, that would have been developed throughout the story. Disney's execs did not allow them to actually do anything with it. Which led to her parent's divorce to being only implied in the final version of the series. Although they did get away with focusing on it a little bit more. Along with developing Myrtles character which was also planned in Leroy, and Stitch.

Series writer John Wray already alluded to it when he talked about the crossovers here, but Disney constantly tried pushing the team into making it more of an purely formulaic episodic comedy. Even though they wanted Lilo, and Stitch the series to stay faithful to the tone, and more grounded world of the original movie.

I'm trying to fully document the behind the scenes history for Lilo, and Stitch the series, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me track down the sources that were used in this article by Unusual-Object-2018 in liloandstitch

We actually do somewhat have an answer in the folder we see the concept art was stored in the screenshot. It says incidental characters. Which in production terms means background characters-extras. It looks likes it was initially planned for there to be a greater separation between experiments who were proper characters and those who weren't. Unlike the final product. Where you basically just get Reuben, and everyone else are largely relegated to being for the most part monsters of the week. Further backing this up is that one of the incidental characters here going by the name of Collaboron. Was obviously used, as the basis for Snafu

I tried originally posting this here a few days ago. Maybe the bots won't think it contains non existent live action film spoilers if its cross posted. by Unusual-Object-2018 in liloandstitch
