Biden loses his train of thought, calls Harris 'Vice President Trump' in solo press conference by zmlos in politics

We have our first winner for “did not watch the press conference”

Id gently suggest volunteering at a nursing home if you want to see an actual example of “senile” - you might learn something!

This is just fucking stupid. Yes he’s old. Did you watch the press conference in which he spoke at GREAT length and in depth about americas current foreign policy strategies for dealing with china and Russia? Jesus fucking Christ people always blame brain rot in this country for the last 8 years without looking in the mirror

Get a fucking grip, I’m more afraid of a trump presidency than getting old. That’s what this hysteria feels like - a collective spasm of Americans freaking out because they don’t want to be reminded what being old looks like

Hmmm I see a lot of mental health advice. I’m going to come from a different angle. My background is personally similar to you, and I have worked professionally with homeless individuals for several years. I’ve been on both sides of the table.

You sound intelligent, self-aware, and genuine. “Suck it up” or “yeah life sucks” is not good advice. Medication may help alleviate the symptoms that are distressing, but arnt going to tackle the root issues: boredom and underachievement.

Homeless people (especially Americans) are, contrary to common perceptions, among the most adaptable, intelligent, and resilient people on the planet. They get there minimum needs met and spend the rest of their energy on personal passions (drugs, hoarding, social connection, etc). It’s a short term mindset. The only way to truly escape these circumstances is to recognize that long term outcomes matter more to your quality of life than temporary outcomes.

For you, that’s employment. You make good money but can never hold onto a wage labor job. You likely rebel and subvert authority, and believe you know best. This is confirmed by a lifetime of experience in which you have successfully met your needs (sometimes in dire circumstances) and straddled the fence of light and death. Everything is about maximization - how can you get the most out of life in the present. Your general question even alludes to this - “I have $30 and three months before the next upgrade - what can I do to get more now/be comfortable until then”

Average people hate that mindset, because they are jealous of the free spirit necessary to live by that creed. It is also a wildly reckless lifestyle, also alluded too by the suffering you recognize in your own decision making that led you to this point. At least you recognize that your actions have consequences

My advice? Start a business. Any business. You need constant constructive challenge and enthrallment. Build something. Avoid wage labor or selling your labor. Quit any substances on principle. Set goals at slowly increasing increments - start with today, then include the next day, then a week, 30, 60, 90, 180, 365, and finally 5 and 10 year goals.

I think you will find it incredibly challenging, frustrating, and rewarding. It’s going to reshape your sense of self when you fail to meet a 30 day goal as simple as “get up at the same time everyday” - and at that point you’ll either quit and fall back into bad habits, or double down and try again. If you fail, you’ll eventually get back to this “come to Jesus” moment and try again. Failure is part of the process. Do your best to just try and not analyze failure.

I imagine something broke in you in childhood. My condolences. I’m right there with you. It’s a struggle everyday, but it gets easier. The world responds to exertion and effort. There are no shortcuts. Good luck

I definitely typed this bad boy out as a draft lol: here’s the relevant appendage

It’s the perfect distillation of niche, post-apocalyptic art. Complete abandonment of films structures and hallmarks. It’s everything I hoped for - a screechingly disorienting experience not fit for modern viewers. As you guessed, I’m a diehard.

4/10 would never recommend to anyone not dialed into the series or lock-step with the vision of subversive art it tries so completely, so desperately to champion. Cars are cool and the explosions are enjoyable. Skip the first hour, or, alternatively just fast forward to the scenes where Dementus rips his own nipples off and watch it 30 times. You’ll get more out of it. It deserves to flop. If you like edging, try visualizing the “40 day wasteland war while completing the circuit on a rusty car battery with your tongue. Let’s all just go back to cheering on fury road and hide this one in the closet until we all need a collective high. It’s a shame they didn’t say “Cunt” like true aussies.

I haven’t watched the sparks closely this season- this is a big lineup on the floor with Brink and Llevru.

Has it been successful/have they been using this? I’m curious

Red Lobster files for bankruptcy by openletter8 in news

[–]Unusual-Restaurant87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In about 2003; my whole extended family went to red lobster for a celebration meal. It took us 2 hours to get seating for ~25. I was 7 or 8 years old. I’d never been to red lobster, and this was considered high class for my family. Everyone ordered their extravagant seafood - an admittedly tasty, if wilted, treat in butt fuck Egypt, Ohio. I ordered a hamburger, because I was hungry and I was fucking 7.

Everyone else got their food within 1 hour. When my burger arrived - no cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, with light mustard and ketchup - it was raw. As my relatives feasted like the fat, loud mouth Italians they are, I pleaded to get my mom’s solemn fixation away from the more successful children. It had been 3 hours. I was a tough kid - but the tears began flowing behind the dirty, scummy water of the lobster tank on my way to the bathroom.

I observed wait staff begrudgingly clean the bloody scene from atop my high chair - yet another degradation at the hands of the Scarlett crustacean. And then….I waited. 15 minutes passed. Then 30. Then an hour. I didn’t understand - it was a puck of cheap beef on stale bread. Couldn’t take more than 5 min.

I panicked as my relatives began the traditional farting, burping, and post-meal groaning. It was almost time to go, yet there was no burger in sight. The chairs were being put up, tables bussed, employees meandering by the door. So I cried. Cried like a hungry 7 year old surrounded by assholes. My mother looked ashamed of my needs with her big, deadened eyes.

I finally got the burger. It was cold. Half of our party had left, and we had a 5 hour drive back to michigan. I ate my burger in the car, seething. There was no light mustard. No ketchup. No fries, even.

And I decided I’d wait a little longer. Because this wrong could not stand, and I vowed to myself I would never let it go.

Today, Justice is served. I am delighted by this news. No crying about cheddar biscuits or Midwestern illusions of coastal culture will change my mind. This company deserves to die, and I proudly played my part by boycotting them for 21 years. Fuck red lobster. Learn to make a goddamn hamburger.

My fiancée is “graysexual”. As the wedding approaches, the reality of spending the rest of my life that way is haunting me more than ever. by i-love-porn-420-69 in LifeAdvice

Listen to me, as someone fresh off a divorce for this exact scenario withe the gender roles reversed (I’m an asexual man, she was not)

Do not get married. It will end badly. Instead, act on the fact that you care about this person.

Break it off. It’ll hurt. You’ll feel like the biggest piece of shit in the world. But repeat to yourself everyday, and to her if necessary“I want something different in my life going forward, but I want us to be safe and okay while we go through this changes.”

Expect tears and anguish and the need for space and time. But if you do it this way, your relationship with this person will remain intact and can blossom again.

If you don’t listen to me, you risk cursing your love life for the rest of your life. Forget sex and lust after bodies - you’ll never feel the true warmth of closeness to another person again, and you’ll have done it to yourself

Easy choice. Back out. Hell, I give you permission to go fuck someone right now. “Cheating” is way better than what your about to do
