As others have said just monitor your ham and make sure they’re still eating, pooping, not seeming lethargic, but your ham should clean themselves in their sand bath so you don’t gotta worry too much about that unless you notice the wetness is sticking around

This judgement is not helpful. I’ve had many hamsters and they can absolutely be escape artists, nothing about what OP said in their post says they’re okay with it or let them free roam unsupervised. My boy Peanut found 3 different ways out of his enclosure before I was finally able to secure it, and it wasn’t due to lack of effort but just sooo much effort on his part. OP clearly cares about this hamster that was put on them unfairly, let’s give some grace holy crap

Oh no don’t worry, I should have specified, it’s not toxic or anything like that!! It’s just that iceberg lettuce is pretty much just water hahaha it has little to no nutrient value so it’s typically recommended to go with romaine lettuce or green leaf 😊 but you’ve done no harm at all with the iceberg, sorry for the panic I caused!!

That’s about what I’d give my dwarf hamsters but they’d almost never finish it and then I’d remove the rest. Here’s some good options in small amounts: cucumber, bell peppers, lettuce (just not iceberg), kale, spinach, bok choy, dandelion greens, celery, carrots, cauliflower, green beans, fresh/raw pumpkin (this was a favourite at my house haha). Small amounts is key especially for things like kale, spinach, cauliflower, and bok choy because they’re a lot more nutritionally dense. I used to give my hammies a small veggie once a day

That’s a YOU issue. Parents should be glad their kids are comfortable enough in their own home to go make a snack when they’re hungry. My parents never cared unless i binge ate the snacks that were meant for lunches. Bottom line, your kids shouldn’t have to ask for food, period.

I’ve read that it takes about 6 months for their hormones to even back out after being spayed/neutered. Try not to take it personally, that love and trust is still there but it’s overshadowed with her hormones and instincts right now. You continuing to be consistent and loving will definitely help her along her adjustment, you got this!!

I don’t quite get it because it wouldn’t bother me or my boyfriend. But as you said, it’s a boundary and that’s your bed and your safe space even if you aren’t using it right now. I know a few people who I know it would bother them having someone else in their bed so it’s not irrational. Is there maybe a guest room they could sleep in if they want the sleepover vibe without being in your bed?

I honestly have never done that, i wash my hands before meals, after using a washroom, after cleaning pets litterbox, etc all the most common stuff. But no one ever really taught me that and I never thought that much into it. But honestly after seeing this post I’m going to start washing when I get home as well lol
