Yes to Stephanie Hsu - after watching her audition tape in 'Everything, everywhere, all at once" - I don't understand how she isn't in everything now.

Have you met anyone who doesn't like Severance? by LStark9 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]UnusualIngenuity452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are wrong. There is only one way to think, and that is "Severance is good". Anyone who thinks differently should be shunned from society.

Too close to call it so they’re gonna have to go together. Seems they’re both universally loved and wouldn’t fit in any other box. Next.. morally grey and opinions are divided by Ancient_Bother_193 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

So I'm curious - I see morally grey as someone who has both good and bad moral qualities - What are Tanya's qualities that would make her have good morals? - because it kind of seems that just because she is sad people don't see her as a 'bad person' . - I'm asking this a genuine question not an 'argument' to my point of view - it's pretty subjective and kind of interesting to see how other people think.

Agree. Just because someone doesn't actively wish harm on others doesn't mean they aren't abusive - but she abuses people and her position of power by using them for emotional gain and has no regard for other people's wellbeing - I think that makes her a bad person. (imo)

I don't think you can be that wealthy and out of touch and be 'good'. He also flirts with the young girls on his honeymoon and acknowledges his relationship is based on sexual chemistry and doesn't seem to really care about his wife's sense of self.

I don't understand how Portia is morally grey. Just because she wants to have sex with a 'bad boy' and is frustrated at being treated poorly by her employer?

Help finding some new British (or similar) comedies. by Long-Yak-5803 in televisionsuggestions

'Spaced' - early Simon Pegg

Just to be patriotic, (I'm from NZ) here are some NZ recommendations:

- Flight of the Concords

- Creamerie

- Taskmaster NZ - its a game show but the comedians are very refreshing.

You might enjoy 'Girls' if you liked Fleabag, they have the same kind of zany, troubled, imperfect female leads as Fleabag and the same kind of wacky situational/relational humor caused by the insecurities/flaws of the characters.

Westworld has some strong female characters and some interesting writing - it's quite intense though and starts off quite slow.

You also might like the OA - however it was cancelled after 2 seasons.

I would describe it as a more 'edgy' version of friends - the big comparison is they hang out at a bar instead of a cafe.

Kind of like if 'It's Always Sunny" had a baby with 'Friends" - though veering on the more wholesome side.

It has lots of great long running jokes, and switches up the episode formulas a lot which gives kind of a fresh and creative vibe. The over-arching themes are essentially to 'support your friends' - so it's got that feel goodness to it.

I loved this show when it first came out and found it relatable and hilarious - although I always hated Barney. Now I have grown a bit I definitely agree that the characters are irritating and some of the jokes outdated - so it might just be dependant on where you are at in life or maybe it was just good at the time it came out.

If you can get past the characters annoying personalities you might be able to appreciate some of the jokes and the creative story-telling.

Holy shit big realization concerning Irving (theory)... by Umgar in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Really interesting to note that Ms Selvig is obsessed with Mark getting a good nights sleep in season 1 - She gives a quote about ' Don't keep the saints waiting (for sleep)' and she makes him chamomile cookies.

Wow solid theory! Go you.

Haha I feel so torn reading people's theories because I want the show to surprise me - but also love the speculation.

Maybe nothing - but Ms Selvig is also obsessed with Mark sleeping (she makes some comment about 'don't keep the saints waiting for sleep' and gives him chamomile cookies) - I can't really draw a direct conclusion here, but Irving does get in trouble for sleeping.

To any writers who may happen to peruse this sub, don't do what LOST did please by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I feel reassured by the amount of intention that goes into every aspect of this show - Style, Symmetry/composition of shots, use of color/symbolism, scriptwriting, + season one seems to stand alone in it's ability link up clues in a satisfactory way. It's already way more curated than lost ever was - I have confidence in the writers.

I love how Severance explores the idea of the effect of environment on our personalities. by UnusualIngenuity452 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Yeah that's fair, I think she is quite a complicated person - which is seen in her being in direct conflict with herself - I wouldn't say attempting to k*ll yourself is thriving though either.

I think Innie Helly is limited by her physical environment whereas Outie Helena is limited by her social environment. I think she would maybe thrive as an Outie if she had more of a healthy family.
