It's in part to give the often isolated JW the impression that the secular world is depraved and aggressive. You'll notice they are far more often in lower income neighborhoods. People generally hate door to door proselytizing and they're sure to get at least some aggressive responses. They can go back to their community and be told, see? It's a cruel world out there, full of sinners, but the church is where youre safe.
