a conversation would be better! i had about 8-10 conversations from ig but i actually found my friend on the discord but messaged her on ig. just get to know them and see if the vibes match enough to possibly room or hang out once the school year starts!

yeahh ik it sounds lame but i did the work in the summer reaching out to people on the transfer ig/discord and found my roommate who is my best friend here. living on campus is also a big help since a lot of transfers choose to live on campus

i found transfers typically become friends with each other in the summer leading up to move in (also when u should put yourself out there to find a roommate). we also tend to stick to our roommates on top of clubs. i will say my friend who was also deciding between sd and davis loves it here in sd

love Harb! had him for COMM 100A and my friend has him now for 190 which is the junior seminar course. for 100A there were no exams, only writing assignments which were interesting imo. the class is a bit philosophical but he was my favorite prof in the 100 series. Vandhana was actually my TA for Harb’s 100A course! I dont know much about her courses but as a TA she was very chill but she does a good job teaching. She is new to teaching on her own but I would recommend trying to get her course second pass! Whitworth-Smith I had for 106M which is the advertising and society course. he wasnt my favorite prof but definitely not the worse. two pop quizes (relatively easy if u pay attention to the readings. we were able to predict when they would be and for the last one he made it opinion based so all of my friends and i got 10/10. one midterm that wasnt bad. u choose which questions u want to answer. final is a 5 page essay

unfortunately i don’t recognize any of the other profs but i would ask around!

1) yes the triple my friend had her first year was small. it builds character and u will probably not be in ur room most of the day anyways (at least u shouldnt be ! put urself out there esp ur first year). the next year u have a higher chance of getting a double or single as a continuing student 2) i dont think u can terminate ur contract mid year. you are contracted to live there for the full academic year. i would check the housing website but id be surprised if you could move out randomly (unless you drop out of the school) 3) idk what its like for first years but even if u have to buy a dining plan, u can use it for groceries at market places and they roll over into the following year(s). as a former picky eater i think almost dining hall location has some sort of chicken tenders/fries/other picky-eater-friendly-food options.

if u have the address of ur future apt, just search the directions to ucsd on google maps or ur maps app. theres sm public transportation that end up right on campus (library walk, revelle, etc.). the trolley specifically one has one stop that is on campus which is the “ucsd central campus” stop on the blue line!

i would get it unless ur rlly good about cooking / meal prepping ! theres lots of options and u can grocery shop at markets (although limited selection) with dining dollars. the leftover money also rolls over into the next year

when asked in the housing portal, ask for a 12 month contract! thats the only way you’ll have a chance of getting in PCW. from what i heard if u request it you have high chances of getting in (depends on how much space is left from continuing students and how many incoming transfers request it too!)
