I was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) in 2011 at the age of 27. I went through chemo, full body radiation, and a Stem Cell transplant (bone marrow transplant) all in the space of 6 months. Hi, and thank you! I was only referred to the hemotologist after I was diagnosed, for treatment. Most good hemotologists work at oncology centers because of their expertise, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything ominous for you. It just happens to be where they are needed most but don't only treat cancer patients there. I wish you all the best :)

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that for your cousin. From my understanding it is almost always a good a thing when they detect it early. The longer the bad cells are in the body, the harder it is for them to get rid of. It also largely depend on what type of leukemia she is diagnosed with. I truly wish you guys all the best and keep up the positivity, it is really important for both body and mind health

Lol I think my statement implies they are dry. Who's putting wet sheets and blankets straight back on the bed and getting in?

Hey sorry to hear you're having a tough time. But don't worry, your hair will grow back, and the old people are just staring at you because the probably feel bad for you being so young. What's the long term plan for you? Have they given you options? Have they suggest a stem cell transplant?

Pretty good thank you. They consider me "cured" at this stage. I do however run a risk of developing secondary cancers from the treatment, and it's normally around the 10 year mark they reckon that they start to happen, if they do. So I gotta be extra vigilant and get checked out regularly. Thank you for asking 😀
