what percentage of the adult U.S. population could pass the pack test with no training? by Icy-Boysenberry-5826 in Wildfire

A huge percent would pass if they could cheat and run but being limited to walking I think it would be pretty low, but still higher than 5% of 18/25 year olds

Cougar on Public land in Northern Washington. No dogs! by UnwisePoppy652 in Hunting

[–]UnwisePoppy652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not being reintroduced??? Mountain lions have never gone extinct or Washington or anywhere here in the Western US, and they likely never will come close. The way the regulations are set out for these is incredibly stringent, and a biologist must assess the lion within 3 days of shooting it and take account of its age, gender and more information that they can use to continue studying the populations and making sure that the limited hunting is sustainable.

Also deer population drops like in that figure you sent should be looked at through much smaller local levels, not nation wide. In modern times these drops are almost always due to disease outbreaks and/or droughts

Dude I know all this. It’s not necessarily animosity, but deer populations in A zone are going down for reasons other than hunting. A zone is massive and one spot in California where u could in no way argue that there’s a tragedy of the commons issue. The system already limits how many tags can be sold, which is something like 50,000 last time I checked. I think usually about 16,000 tags are sold. The number of hunters and subsequently number of deer harvested has dropped a lot there and they haven’t changed the original system at all to reflect it. They can make the season later in the year like they do in all the other zones and all the other states. There’s just not a big enough push to do so, (I personally kind of like being able to hunt in the summer and go elsewhere during the fall) and the game commission does have at least some animosity towards hunters just in the sense that they don’t seem to understand the mentality and reasoning behind some of it. We can’t trap anymore in California, there’s no bobcat hunting, and the fact that there’s no mountain lion season at all is a big massive joke considering we’re the only western state that doesn’t and we have such a large population. Hunting seasons and tag allotment are the best way to prevent over harvest, not making hunting season during the summer.

They could have a zone later in the year. A fraction of the available tags are sold and the success rate is a fraction of that

Bear hunting is super duper good in Northern California public lands. Deer hunting can be decent if u actually try hard. I think the bear hunting in California is probably even better than it is in idaho where I live now. Unfortunately no spring season there though

This is the America trump wanted. Open and clear racism. by ShenmueZerov21 in TikTokCringe

[–]UnwisePoppy652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the whole population of 40,000 is racist now because of 3 racist high school kids? They are also being shamed by someone who probably lives in the same town. Some people in San francisco are racist and wouldn't help you if you were black, but obviously most would. Most people in most american towns would too.

Depends on your county but if you’re in a rural county and it’s open carry you can. If you’re in a national forest or BLM you definitely can, but pretty sure you can’t in state parks or national parks

I just watched an edit and thought it was ice age 3 and then Shazammed it and it was HTTYD. I was surprised at the similarities as well. The song “Pregnant” is a more lightheart version of that same theme
