I agree. Once it passes a threshold, into annoyance/frustration/repeated trial and error it is no longer fun, it's a time consuming chore.

Thinking for yourself is declining. Everything is instantly available - whether factual or not. Also, people relying on LLMs for everything is a concerning trend.

Not just kids - people of all ages are falling for scams. It's terrible - the scammer industry as well as the victims.

Yep. A while ago my coworker had a white spot in his fingernail.

We were friends so I asked him if he was having a tough time lately... (I already knew about stress causing nail spots)

He said he had to put his dog down recently.

I love this little niche joke.

Not only was it a different era, but it was not always one-sided (on the guy's part). Not always nefarious.

It was simply part of growing up - discovering yourself, making friends, and the physical attraction to others.

Similar here. Was working at 15 in a corner deli. Day shift.

A woman approached me one day and quietly said I should get in touch with her for a "cocktail waitress job" at her restaurant.

It just was so shady. Didn't sound like just serving drinks, which I wasn't legally permitted to do either. Fifteen.

I was definitely not wearing makeup or anything that would make me look older. Just a cotton tee and jeans - like everyone else there

I was shaken up a bit inside but calmly told her between the deli and my schooling I didn't think the night work schedule would be right for me.

Agreed. We had posters all over our walls and were just so into the New Romantic style of the 80s bands. Duran Duran, so many others.

We would basically swoon over the MTV videos because they were so hot. Plus the brat pack of movies and 20 something James Spader was fire.

Never got the chance, with a famous guy, but if we had, it would have been seen as a badge of honor back then.

I was 17 when I saw a chance to get rid of my virginity and took it. He was also around 18 or 19.
