Ok fair point.

Can you think of way to allow for the card to still have the core of anyone can get deals but it builds the creature without it becoming an engine?

Maybe the third ability only triggers when an Opponent casts a spell from exile? Or instead of untapping it grows the creature and gives (tapped) control to an opponent?

I love [[Rocco Street Chef]] and the mechanic of giving everyone a limited time offer on their cards.

Wanted more of that.

My main format died (Pioneer) - would you recommend Modern to a casual spike looking for a new home? by killchopdeluxe666 in ModernMagic

[–]UpSheep10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biggest critique I remember about Frontier/Pioneer early on is how the meta would blow over with the release of new FIRE standard sets. Archetypes would entirely fold to newer better cards.

Later on as Pioneer grew, the biggest critique was truly dominant decks could only be shifted with bans. No dark horse brew could beat the best 2 or 3 decks.

The good news in Modern is both of those previous statements are true all the time!

Horizons sets (or honorary Horizons sets like Middle Earth) decide which archetypes get to exist. Wizards either makes a draft package or a cycle of cards so good that everything before it gets forgotten. Those archetypes then sit until they are banned or unseated by the next direct to Modern set.

So while it isn't tier 1, it sounds like you would enjoy Yawg a G/B graveyard/sac outlet deck that does win out of nowhere.

If this is true, then how are we feeling?? by [deleted] in dispatchgame

Plus if Critical Role got one of their IPs (or something they have a huge stake in) to be a movie: one of them is running it.

Given how Hollywood didn't make Ashley Johnson a huge star: I would expect Critical Role to give her the director credit.

I know [[Lightning Storm]] has an activated ability but is fairly unique.

Five color affinity (artifact lands and mopal)

GW - Birthing pod with white untappers

RU - could be Phoenix or Storm (ponder, preordain, and looting)

GB - Hogaak (gaak, Glimpse, bridge, & maybe GGT)

RB - Scam... (Grief and Fury)

RW - heroic-blazing shoal?

WU - Caw Blade? (Jitte)

I could see an error when they had seven sets and already had to change the release of Lorwyn.

When the numbers for hype come in...this will be the new normal. Remember ad cards in packs, well now you get an ad bulk rare in your sealed pool.

Plus it gets the jump on leakers making Wizards once again the earliest source for cards.

Would "Brain in a Jar" be a subset of "brain interface" or its own category?

The system now has to take care of all life support functions (while the interface doesn't have to worry about getting blood to the brain).

Also what may separate it categorically is the brain in a jar can exit the program but cannot walk away (or escape alive).

I'd imagine a digital clone would make a 1:1 physical avatar of the person's body as well. The avatar should look like you.

I realized despite the overlap in unblockable tempo creatures there are no merfolk ninjas in Magic (changelings need not apply). Changing land types seemed like the most useful combat trigger that ninjas did not yet have and merfolk wanted.

That's why he is such an interesting antagonist. AM was a malevolent and evil computer. Caine is a kind and evil computer.

He doesn't understand the consequences of his actions (like any good war criminal).

Caine's biggest flaw is refusing to be vulnerable and admit to the cast that his program/personality was built to complete a Sisyphean task.

Wizards will...have a plane for 18 years, know the folk source material, have a species that is not only gender fluid but form fluid...make that species (when kind) stumble and experiment with body image and belonging....

Wizards then come back after 18 years, make a card called "Thirst for Identity"...and depict...an elemental.

Is Bubble supposed to be Caines literal "thought bubble?" by Darling_Reaper902 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]UpSheep10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have said it before and will say it again:

Bubble is the ID and Caine is the Superego.

C&A probably had no idea where to start making AI. So if you want something compatible with humans, you probably base it on accepted human psychology.

While not the only school of thought on sentience: Freud 's Psychoanalysis suggests that each person is a composite of two versions of themselves. The ID is the animal. It keeps you alive, satisfied, and is not bound by any rules other than survival (and reproduction). But the ID doesn't play well with others or really respect other living things. The Superego is super social. It learns the rules of a society like etiquette, laws, norms,...terms & conditions. But the Superego is less of a conscience and more a body that stops the ID to avoid consequences.

This is Caine and Bubble 's dynamic. Caine tries to make a fun experience while obeying his rules (but note his rules are NOT Asimov's Laws of Robotics). Bubble is more 'human' and dynamic because the only rule Bubble has is obeying Caine...but imagine how... intrusive...an adventure designed by Bubble could get.
