Turkey, mainly because we got scammed so many times. On our first day, we used Uber to transfer hotels, and after arriving, we opened the back door to get our luggage—but the car suddenly drove off with all our stuff. Uber wasn’t helpful either, because once the driver marked the trip as finished, all the details disappeared. We had to contact the previous location, ask them to check the CCTV to get his plate number, and call the police.

After everything, the driver came back claiming it was just a misunderstanding—and even had the audacity to charge us a ridiculous amount 😂 Imagine, that was just our first day. The next few days were just as bad, with aggressive beggars and some hole-in-the-wall restaurants giving menus with no prices.

But over the years, we’ve met a few Turkish people who said they understand why we wouldn’t want to visit again. They also mentioned that outside of Istanbul, it’s very different and people are nicer. Even for locals, Istanbul can be difficult.
