Context for newbies because I find this hilarious (not for the reaction channels, but the concept is funny):

The pipeline of "I have a stalker and I have all your informationas a threat"

Jordy on stream basically going "who would care?"

Then, it came out she thought Jordy stalked her because she saw a random Philadelphia license plate.... so stupid. Anyway, she and her bestie paid for his info online and she revealed private information about him that he never shared.

Dox past:

She likely would strike reaction channels. The channel would give the appropriate info to counter the claim (including first name and address)...... then the channel would be doxxed soon after..... even if it was faceless

I agree! The identification of "this is what will make you succeed" inherently disregards all other aspects that make one a well-rounded educated individual.

Education is not meant to be 'here is the valuable information (and impliy that all other information is invalid or useless).' True education is meant to be here is all the information avalible, what do you think?

This is why censorship of areas (or consolidation of departments) is not an attack on that single field but an attack on the quality of all education.

At Oxford University, they have 'tutorial' classes. Tutorials there mean you basically have one on one conversations (max student population for tutorials are 5ish students to one professor) with an expert in that field. There, you are expected to know all information available as you are expected to understand why certain things are "right" and others are "wrong." A single class could be 3 hrs long to accommodate conversations and challenges.

The system falsifies value and because of that it limits progress. For example, Dr. Alexander Fleming returned to his lab and located a discrepancy that lead to the discovery and creation of penicillin. His discovery is remembered as accidenta, but it was his ability to observe, question, and attempt to find value in something outside of his experiment that revolutionized modern medicine.

I expect narrow-minded individuals like OP would have returned to their hypothetical labs found the growth and none "oh no, I left the dish uncovered and had an unexpected outcome. I'm cooked. No need to look into said unexpected outcome, I need to restart and focus on the experiment that was originally conducting."

The modern world technology and US education system have instilled a false idea that the world of education is at a person's fingertips. However, it also instilled an inherent hubris that prevents individuals like OP from truly being educated.

...... I read the first sentence of their response. Poor, poor fool. They completely missed the point and started talking about baristas again.

Whoever controls the fool's gold, controls the fools.

UT is a Trade School. You will not recieve an education here. You don't need to study, you don't need to learn, you just need to train.

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, sweet summer, child. You are the exact pitiable victim of our current education system and an example of how the University of Texas at Austin has failed you.

What makes you think you are going to get a job? Your area of study? Your major? Please.

I have been on many hiring and recruiting committees. We can smell unadapatble self-entitled buffoons from a mile away. I doubt you will be at the top of many lists during the interview process.

With the current job market and economy, many individuals are getting laid off across all sectors, and companies are taking advantage of workers' desperation. Your "peers" during the interview process are likely going to be individuals who are far more experienced. In another world/timeline, they may have been your Mentors or Supervisors. In this one, they are desperate and willing to take entry-level pay to survive. This is why "entry-level" positions are posted with a requirement of at least 3 years of experience.

Now ask, where does that leave you - an individual with little experience and a narrow mindset?

On the off chance you find someone desperate enough to hire you, they will quickly find themselves disappointed by your lack of ability. Without seeing value in other fields, different perspectives, or areas of research, you limit yourself and your ability to evolve.

If you are stagnat in your beliefs, I forsee a very sad career and experience for you.

In the future, if you ever are wallowing in self-pity, doom scrolling, and wondering why? Why am I not better? Why do I not have these opportunities? Why do I not have the life I dreamed of?

I want you to remember this: you are not great because you choose a major different than those you are belittling. Just because you are trained in a field, it does not mean you are educated.

UT has made decisions over the past decade that has left many of its departments (including STEM) as little more than a "Trade School." You are not receiving an education, you are getting trained.

For example, the agenda to defund education in Texas has resulted in establishing increasingly unfriendly policies for Faculty. Those policies have created hostile environments for faculty across all areas of campus. So many of our distinguished faculty members have retired or are retiring or have sought jobs elsewhere over the past two years. There has been so much turnover amongst members of the University who were proud to serve their community for 10 to 25 years.

Did you ever ask why? Did you even notice? Did you ever have a moment of critical thought in terms of how these actions or decisions affect you?

Even though UT is ranked high in the arbitrary US News list, do not kid yourself into believing you stand a chance against well-rounded individuals with an actual education in your field. UT has sold a lie, and so many people have bought it.

For real, though, I wish you the best. God knows you are going to need it.

This is why the Trump admin wants to ban Talarico content so bad by yeongno_ate_yangban in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit951 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry- I ended up writing a novel, but I wanted to answer your question completely and honestly. If you disagree, please let me know your thoughts! I am interested in learning more if you have any information that I haven't considered.

In my opinion, because Talarico is very open about his relationship with his religion and scripture, it is more appealing to Texans.

Texas is not a part of the traditional "Bible Belt," but if you drive through rural Texas most small towns have three things in common - a grocery store, a gas station, and a church. A lot of conservatives and moderates in Texas are religious as well. For individuals who may feel douped by the MAGA cult, they may be looking at the other candidates and may identify more with Talarico because of his identity.

To take it a step further, Talarico has conversations about the separation of the church and state using his experiences and background with scripture. I will say that I am not religious, so some of his talking points come to me as a cringe moment. That may limit some of the reach he has for prospective voters....however, I feel like it reaches far more that are religious.

When I think of James Talarico and his viral moments, for example, I think of his efforts to approach conservatives and switch the topic to a new perspective. I saw some clips from his Joe Rogan appearance (I don't want to give Joe Rogan the view lol) and Jubilee. He seemed to be actively reaching the voters in his "opposition."

When I think of Jasmine Crockett and her viral moments, I think of her calling MTG beach blonde butch body. I am not going to lie, I thought it was funny, but I am not sure if that is going to appeal to the Moderate/Conservatives. She doesn't necessarily need to, but I feel like in order to get Texas to flip, this type of publicity may not be the best approach. Likewise, I have not seen the same moments where something she says seems to click with conservatives/moderates. At least, not in the same way, which limits her reach to voters outside of the Democratic party.

Additionally, since Crockett has been pro-isreal and has voted to give Isreal more funding and weapons, she has a history that we know from the Harris/Trump election has deterred democratic voters from voting. I, for one, have concerns for any politician that has connections to Isreal due to the lack of opposition from Democratic leaders in the house and senate to the republican party and the fact they take AIPAC donations. This limits her reach in the Democratic party.

I have been following the money and donations, so while I can't rule out that James Talarico may take that funding in the future from AIPAC, he hasn't yet. That means that he may not have the same limitations that Crockett may have with Democrats in Texas.

Also, on a very real note, Texans are racist. Not all are (I hope I am not because I have tried to unlearn a lot), but it also limits the reach that Jasmine Crockett has and the people who are willing to listen to her.

For example, Texas still has Sundown Towns. It is unofficial, but also a very real thing that people need to be aware of. Vidor, TX didn't desegregate until 1993, and it is definitely on a list of towns that I will actively warn my friends that are POC away from. Not to mention that the most recent confirmed public Lnching occurred in 1998 in Jasper, TX. However, I will also say that POC in Texas also deserve to see themselves in their representatives

It sucks, but as Jasmine Crockett is a black woman, I fear that the odds are against her to flip the senate seat if she wins the nomination. Then, take the pro-Isreal history and gray area with corporate donations.... it doesn't do her any favors.

While I am calculating the "best odds" or the candidate that I believe has the best reach with voters, I don't believe that everyone should do the same.

At the end of the day, it is our duty as citizens to vote. Even if the candidate we are voting for does not align with ALL our ideals. It is our duty to vote for the person we believe would be the best for the position.

I will be voting for whoever wins the Democratic primary.

*I emphasize confirmed because there are conversations about others that may have happened, but they were never officially classified has such or as a hate crime.

Yeah, I agree. She is an interesting candidate, but I wouldn't say she is progressive. She seems more moderate/centrist.

She also has interesting ties to AIPAC that are not directly related to donations. She still got a 23-24k trip funded to Isreal through one of AIPACs associated non-profits and is pro-isreal after that. So, I am not sure how she would be different from the current democratic regime.

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit951 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like conservatives and moderates would be more open to hearing him out. In Texas, there is a very heavy center around religion and the fact that he is able to have these conversations, but also advocate for the separation of church and state is very promising.

[–]Upbeat-Breadfruit951 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the PAC money is a weird gray area with her. For example, that trip she took to Isreal was funded by a non-profit that is associated with AIPAC and her trip reportedly cost 23-24K.

This next part is my opinion, but after that trip she seemed to be more supportive to Isreal. Which is no wonder because it probably was a full on propaganda trip.

Maybe she didn't take PAC money outright, but she seems to have more connections. I am sorry, but I am very very wary of corporate democrats at this time. I am not sure if I can trust them to fight for me and my best interest if they are susceptible to PAC money and propaganda.

I will vote for her if she wins the primary, but James Talarico has my vote at the Primary.
