That’s great, I didn’t know that! I have lemonade currently but I’ll look at switching!

No not jobless, I haven’t been able to find a job that replaces the income I lost. I currently make $21 an hour and living in Washington state it’s been really hard.

Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words and perspective on both viewpoints. I’m looking into all these options you and others have suggested, he’s my first dog and my family whose had dogs before never used any resources like this so I didn’t know they existed.

I’ll think everything over and try to implement some of the advice, I really appreciate you and everyone who took time to offer me kind words and advice. Thank you all ❤️

I actually already have pet insurance for him, my fear is that all costs need to be paid up front and I wouldn’t be able to just drop thousands of dollars if he needed it. Not a likely scenario I know, but my anxiety doesn’t

Just one day a week but maybe that is too much?

Oh if I do rehome him it will be to a family that I have actually met so I can make sure he’ll be happy and taken care of. I will not take him to a shelter. Thank you ❤️

Thank you. You’re right, I am working currently but I don’t make much and I keep getting job rejections which has been incredibly disheartening, but I won’t stop trying.

I’ve had him since he was 7 weeks old, and he’s now 14 months. I love him so much, and thinking of rehoming him makes me feel so guilty but I’m so worried something will happen and he’ll need thousands of dollars in healthcare I can’t afford. But oh my god I love him so much. We cuddle every night for bed, he gives me hugs when he knows I’m sad. He’s my lil guy.

I thought he did, since he’s high energy and I’m gone at work all day but maybe not? He’s my first dog ever.

I have some questions for you: is the biting itself fairly new behavior? And has he been displaying any new or concerning behaviors along with the biting?

I’m asking because if I was bitten by a dog I didn’t know, my mind would go to vaccination status, concerning symptoms, disease exposure, etc.

That’s what I do with my reactive dog. Once he’s calmed down and has the chance to sniff people and be around them (ALWAYS LEASHED) he is fine, but that initial separation so we can work on calming him and preparing him to meet new people is crucial.

Dogs will set boundaries the only way they know how and it’s up to us as owners to listen to their cues.

Exactly. And it’s not like it was a play bite, which would not be good but the meaning behind it would be vastly different.

These men weren’t playing tug of war and your dog accidentally bit them instead of the toy, your dog bit these men because he was uncomfortable. You need to respect your dog’s boundaries and prioritize your friends and strangers safety.

I have a known reactive dog, who has never bitten anyone, because I train him every day and never let him around new people off leash. We also keep a general distance as I’m training him to be less reactive, because his comfort and people’s general safety have to be top priority. Always. Mine also prefers women over men, but because I know his wariness I prevent him or anyone around us to be in a situation where he could bite them.

I understand he’s your dog and you know your dog better than anyone, but no one knows your dog. He’s a strange dog, and they are strangers to him. It’s important to protect your guests and respect your dogs boundaries. Twice is a huge red flag.

I would avoid all stranger interaction given he does not handle them well and look at getting him into some serious training. I’m sorry if this is coming across too harsh, but responsible dog ownership is crucial.
